xf_journals, a unique X-Files roleplay community.

The time is the present. Mulder, Scully, and countless of their friends, relations, and sworn enemies have discovered the glories of livejournal. As our heroes struggle to avert the impending alien colonization and wrestle with the obstacles of a new marriage and a young son, others face their own unique problems. WHO is the mysterious government agency shadowing Gibson? WHAT is their connection to Samantha, and what exactly is her relationship to Krycek and the Smoking Man? HOW were Samantha, Emily, Melissa and others cloned so precisely, and for what purpose? WHERE has Suzanne Modeski been since her possession by the black oil in 2004? WHY are we unable to keep a Doggett around for longer than a month? And perhaps most importantly, WHEN will Ruby and Langly stop fussing around and get hitched already???

Guidelines for NEW and POTENTIAL Characters

++ Before posting, familiarize yourself with the way the journals work. This is not a traditional LJ RP; characters post only in their own journal and in comments to other characters. This community is only for OOC posting.

++ Also before posting, catch up on the lives of all the current characters by reading at least the last month's worth of entries and comments for each character.

++ Now that you understand what's going on, post out-of-character in this community. Tell us which character you'd like to play, and your ideas for their characterization and, if applicable, how they might integrate with existing characters. We'll discuss it with you in comments to that post.

HOW TO CHOOSE A CHARACTER

- Characters must have appeared in at least one episode of The X-Files or The Lone Gunmen, and may NOT be previously claimed (see list above).

- ORIGINAL CHARACTERS: OCs may become available due to the vagaries of our storyline, and approved on a case-by-case basis.

- CROSSOVER CHARACTERS: Crossover characters MAY be approved on a case-by-case basis. The crossover character should be firmly entrenched in the X-Files universe, and any crossover characteristics must be secondary. Read this discussion before posting.

- Consider how your character may have changed and aged in the years since we last saw them.

- Is your character dead? Figure out why they've come back to life. Do you want to have a lot of interaction with the major players? Invent a character and/or a plotline that places you in their path.

++ After being welcomed with thunderous applause, create a journal for your character. Create an in-character friendslist, interest list, profile, layout, icons, etc.

++ Hide your friend-of list. Anyone may friend you, so we'd like to keep in-character at least this much.

++ Characters MAY join this community, but it isn't required; posts here should be OOC and should generally be made through your personal journal. (If you'd rather keep your true identity secret, that's ok - but full disclosure definitely helps with communication and coordination.)

++ Make your inaugural post, and jump in!

++ ASK QUESTIONS. We love to help - it makes everything run smoothly.

Rules for CURRENT MEMBERS

1. EACH CHARACTER IS REQUIRED TO POST AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH, measured from the date of your last post. Exceptions may be granted for certain in-character ("But I'm currently abducted by aliens!") or out-of-character ("I'm going on a six-week vacation to Antarctica.") reasons. If you miss your deadline without an excuse, the Official Post-Enforcing Bitch

fae_de_luna will stalk you and haunt your dreams relentlessly until we get a post, an excuse, or the password to your journal.

2. Do not friend non-characters.

3. Posts should all be public. Friends-only, group-only, and private posts can be simulated by a short note at the beginning of the post, a forward-dated initial entry, or a note on the info page.

4. Keep track of posts through your own friendslist or through the flist of

xfjournalsflist.

5. IF YOU WANT TO START A SECOND CHARACTER: Follow the Guidelines for New Characters above.

6. IF YOU NEED TO LEAVE THE COMMUNITY: Please do not delete your character journal; since we have a continuing story that depends on what came before, I like to keep a complete post archive for reference. Turn the password over to me,

stellar_dust, so that if and when we find a new player to take over the character, they can pick up where you left off. If you have a problem with that, talk to me about it.
