I'm sad. Looking for a MSR? Slash? Gen? Noromo? That Doggett fic with that thing that happened but you just can't remember the title or the author's name... ask at xfstoryfinders.
I highly recommend reading Buckingham's fanfics. Her fics can be found here: http://fluky.gossamer.org/author/15119-1.html

During the show, I was often confused about the going-on's during season eight and nine, especially in regards to Mulder and Scully's relationship and about William. Buckingham helps make a lot of these things much clearer. I definitely recommend her stories if you like seasons 7-9. Or even if you don't, these stories could quite possibly make you feel better about the seasons, heh. I know it helped clear up a lot for me.

I'm not actually recommending anything, I was wondering if anybody could rec some fics to me. I'm looking for some good cancer arc fics. Any kind. Romantic fics or fics that deal strictly with trying to cure Scully. The only kind I don't like is character death stories, so no Scully dying stories, please!

Also, I'm always up for a good Mulder/Scully/baby story, whether it's William or not. I am a sucker for babies and therefore, baby fics.

If anyone has any recommendations, I'd love to hear about them! Thank you.

P.S.
This is one from the Novel Annex .. I wanted something long and good to read last week, and picked this one rather randomly. (Well, not so randomly. It's near the beginning of the "story" category. d-: ) I really liked it a lot; it has something of everything, and lots of Scully's family. And I need to see if there's a sequel because there's mytharcy stuff unresolved ..

TITLE: "And Death Shall Have No Dominion"
AUTHOR: Jean Helms
WARNING: Explicit sexual violence/rape of a character. Character death, although if you're like me, you won't weep for this one.
ORIGINAL POST: 12/12/1999
CLASSIFICATION: SRA, MSR.
RATING: Mostly PG, but overall NC-17 for language, chapters dealing with explicit and implied sexual violence and for explicit consensual sex.
SUMMARY: Mulder and Scully, off the X Files for now, investigate a possible bioweapons facility. What they find there puts their partnership, their investigative skills, their love and even their sanity to a test neither could ever have imagined.
SPOILERS: U.S. sixth season; to be safe, let's say up to but not including Two Fathers/One Son.

Anyway, read. But yeah, it's long. 987 KB. ... Does anyone but me ever actually read these huge long monstrosities that I rec? hee.

A long time ago I read a story called 'Where there's A Will'. Later, 22 chapters came out continuing the story line. Then abruptly, it stopped. I mean, Scully's pregnant, there's a crazy lady trying to off her, and I really wanted there to be a good ending, lol. Does anyone happen to know what I'm talking about, and if there are more chapters out there somewhere that I just didn't know about? Thanks in advance!

It is not gratuitous, it is
contextual, but nevertheless you will find it disturbing; as well
you should. I cannot stress this too much, abandon now if you
think you won't cope, don't bother to flame if you get halfway
through and start upchucking. Some characters take apparently
very dark twists, but hang in there....all will be revealed.
Synopsis: A horrific series of child molestations and
murders has escalated. The director himself, under
political pressure from the Justice Department has no
choice but to assign the FBI's best profiler to the case,
despite a promise he made ten years previously...But this
series of killings has no resemblance to anything anyone in
the FBI, including the X-files' Fox Mulder, has ever
encountered before.
Size: 683 k

Claim Forms
at gossamer
http://tooms.gossamer.org/gossamer/cgi-bin/story.cgi.txt?ac/ClaimForms.Spider
Category: V, H.
Spoilers: must have a good general knowledge. There is
a specific reference to Mind Games: Mirror Mirror, but
you do not have to have read that piece to understand
this one.
Synopsis: What FBI agents *really* spend most of their
time doing.
Author's notes: In the process of writing MIND GAMES
Things got pretty dark, so this was my comic relief after
writing Mirror Mirror.
Size: 15.7 k

My favorite of these was Mind Games .. but then, I have a weakness for really good, really long, shippy, profiler!Mulder fic. This one has a really unique take on his profiling ability - it also has a tie to the mytharc that will have you going "wtf .. I'm not going to ask if I just read what I think I just read because I know it's what I just read" - I mean, this theory is so far out there it's even beyond Mulder's usual. But just go with it.

Claim Forms is very short and HYSTERICALLY funny. The single reference to Mind Games isn't very big, you probably won't even notice it if you haven't read the other. So, go, read!

Revelations

Revelations by Sue Esty, aka Windsinger. If x-files.bytewright.com goes down again, it's on gossamer too.

Another classic one, and it is ... LONG. There's 8 interconnected stories and most of them are novel-length (or multiple-novel-length). I'm pretty sure nothing's rated higher than PG-13/light R.

The whole series takes place in season 1. The first story is set right after Jersey Devil, and it's a profiling case. She has the new-partners vibe down *perfectly*. This was one of the last to be written, so it's sort of a pre-quel, and it's my favorite part. It can stand alone, so while the whole story is definitely worthwhile, if you don't have a week of your life to devote to this fic you should at least read 'Dawn.' *grin*

The second through seventh parts jump forward to after Tooms (although she's really played with the schedule a lot, because Christmas happens during her story, but then, she knows that, heh). They've lost that new-partners feeling that Dawn had so clearly, but there's still a refreshing naïveté with such an intense, complicated, angsty, and adorable plot coming before the X-Files closing, before Krycek and abductions and deaths and cancer.

Part 8, the epilogue, takes place right before Erlenmeyer Flask and neatly addresses all the loose ends from the previous chapters. ( .. Actually, I take that back. There's one part from Abductee that doesn't get resolved and it's bugging me a little. It has to do with aliens, though, so maybe that was intentional, hee.)

marikology was worried that S1 is too early for an MSR. Think of it as a self-contained AU; within that context, it really does work. I didn't find it to be OOC at all. Of course, if it had really happened this way, seasons 2-9 would have been much different, lol. (slight spoiler) Also the ST stays nice and U until the end of part 7. IE, most of the story is the absolute EPITOME of the text on my icon. ^_^

And if MT is your thing, the poor man just does *not* catch a break for almost the entire story. *sigh* *pets Mulder*

More praise: Skinner and Maggie Scully are portrayed really well, and even Melissa and Teena (though her first name is different .. hmm .. I forget what it was) make in-character appearances. There are a lot of original characters, and they're all very well crafted and fun (or terrifying) to read. And perhaps what was most refreshing to me is that Ms. Esty *clearly* has been around the Beltway a time or two herself. Finally, an author who knows her way around the DC area! (Or else she just did really good research. Either way, yay!)

So, go read!
