Would anybody be interested in trading custom artwork for custom jewelry? I'm looking to commission a piece of b/w line art to use as the basis of my next tattoo. If this is something you'd be interested in discussing, please shoot me an email and maybe we can work something out! | 1:47 pm [kythryne]

Happy 4th of July! As usual, we're celebrating with a website update. This week we have 15 new Strange Worlds pendants for your enjoyment, as well as the results of last night's ill-fated Flashback Friday, and the July Shiny of the Month.
(Also, double rewards points on every order between now and midnight eastern time today!)
Tomorrow afternoon I'll be in Medford MA doing a jewelry party -- if you're in the Boston area, there's still time to RSVP! Email kythryne@wyrdingstudios.com for the address. It's at 2 p.m. and it is accessible via public transit. I'll have my entire show inventory with me and will be doing custom work on the spot. Have a safe and happy holiday if you're celebrating, and remember, everybody, fireworks are for OUTSIDE use, and the screen porch doesn't count. (Why, yes, we do live next door to a family with teenage boys, how did you guess?) Enjoy your weekend! | | Friday, July 3rd, 2009 | 1:44 pm [kythryne]

Because our internet is still seriously borked (and Fairpoint is evidently choosing to ignore the problem) I'm not going to be able to run the webcam tonight for Flashback Friday. I tried yesterday, and with just one person viewing, it was like watching stop motion animation in slow motion. With an eight minute lag. So to make things easier for everybody, I'll put this month's Flashback pieces up with tomorrow's update instead. This month I'm bringing back the Gratitude series, in versions that haven't been seen in quite a while -- over the years the design evolved into one particular style, but there were some earlier incarnations that I liked quite a lot as well. Tomorrow's update will happen at 2 p.m. eastern time, and will contain 15 new pieces in the Strange Worlds series, 8 Gratitude pieces, and the July Shiny of the Month. Thank you for your patience! | | Monday, June 29th, 2009 | 4:47 pm [kythryne]

Welcome to Instant Gratification Monday, early edition!! I will be doing simple custom work from 5 - 8 p.m. eastern time on a first-come, first-served basis, and the webcam is on. ( You know the drill... )FINISHED: yuki_ona, link (barter for story) PENDING: none EDIT, 7:57: That's it for today! I'll be back on Friday at 8 p.m. for First Friday Flashback, and there will be a website update on Saturday at 2 p.m. with a second set of Strange Worlds pieces featuring lampwork glass from Sandpiper Studio. | | Friday, June 26th, 2009 | 7:49 pm [kythryne]

Welcome to Instant Gratification Monday, late night edition!! I will be doing simple custom work from 10 p.m. - midnight eastern time on a first-come, first-served basis, and the webcam is on. Cats, Cats, Cats!
EDIT, 10:00 p.m.: moving on to IGM now! You can still get a cat pendant if you want, though, I have lots left. Okay, so. Remember those fiberoptic glass cat beads from last year? I just bought a lot more. No, seriously, a lot. See? A lot. For one hour tonight, from 9 - 10 p.m. eastern time, I'll be taking requests for cat pendants, and only cat pendants. ( The webcam is on.) The wirework will be my usual swirly-swoopy style, a little different on each one, and they'll be between 1 and 2 inches high and about an inch wide. They can be any of my standard wire colors: silver, harvest gold, copper, or antiqued brass. Because cats like a little mystery, I won't be taking photos of individual pieces -- it'll be a surprise until you open your package. They're $25 each. The cats are available in the following colors and quantities: - yellow - 6
- green - 2
- light green - 1
- light purple - 1
- pink - 4
- aqua - 3
- light blue - 1
- purple - 2
- black - 5
- cobalt - 2
- navy - 4
- grey - 3
- white - 2
Want one? Leave a comment on this post telling me your first and second color choices, and what kind of wire you'd like. I will respond with a confirmation that I will be able to make your pendant and a payment link, and I will periodically edit the list of quantities available for each color. Meow! (Appropriately, Slippers The Kleptomaniac Cat was curled up in my lap as I was typing this. He tried to steal a few cat beads, but was unsuccessful, as he lacks the necessary stealth to pull off such a heist.) | 2:06 pm [kythryne]

Two things happening tonight - Instant Gratification will run from 10 p.m. - midnight eastern time for all you night owls and west coasters, and before IGM starts I'll be doing a special one-hour promo involving those fiberoptic cats, from 9 - 10 p.m. eastern time. The webcam will be on for both events, so there will probably also be guest appearances from Slippers The Kleptomaniac Cat and possibly a not-so-small-anymore puppy. | | Monday, June 15th, 2009 | 7:01 pm [kythryne]

Welcome to Instant Gratification Monday! I will be doing simple custom work from 7 - 9 p.m. today on a first-come, first-served basis, and the webcam is on. ( You know the drill... ) EDIT, 9:05 p.m.: That's it for tonight! I'll be back next Monday from 10 - midnight, and at some point in the near future there will also be an LJ-only LE involving those cat beads that y'all like so much. | | Monday, June 8th, 2009 | 9:57 pm [kythryne]

And they’re up! Also, I will be doing a jewelry party in the Boston area on Sunday, July 5th at 2 p.m. I will have all of my show inventory (which includes a few things not yet available on the website) and can also bring items from the website if requested, and I will be doing custom work on the spot. If you haven’t been to one of our parties before, they are VERY casual and there is absolutely no pressure to buy things; if you want to come just to oogle the shinies and hang out, that’s perfectly fine by me. Email kythryne@wyrdingstudios.com to RSVP and get the address! | 8:01 pm [kythryne]

First Friday Monday Flashback: Pop Culture In Space! From 8 to 8:30 I will be making as many pieces as I can in this series. At 8:30, I will switch to requests; I've had requests for Peacock In Love With The Mirror, Window Into Dreamland, New Wine From Old Casks, Sundering Persephone and Secrets of the Bronze Age (both of which are really too new for this, but we'll see how things go), Of Order & Communication, Fairy Explosion, Mermaid Dreams, and River Road. I'll do as many as I can, ending at 9 p.m., and then they'll go up on the website just as quickly as I can photograph and upload. | 5:50 pm [kythryne]

Welcome to Instant Gratification Monday, broadcasting live from the land of newly repaired computers! I will be doing simple custom work from 6 - 8 p.m. today on a first-come, first-served basis, and then at 8 p.m. I will segue directly into Flashback Friday, which will get its own post. The webcam is on, thanks to Amy, and ( you know the drill... ) Comments are open as of now. Go for it! Please tell me what you want, what size it should be, and either how much you want to spend or what you'd like to barter. If your request does not contain those three details, I will move on to the next request in the queue, and will return to your request only if I have enough time left at the end. I will periodically post an updated list of what I've finished and what's pending in the queue. EDIT, 6:45 p.m.: Video is working again. The dogs very helpfully unplugged my wireless router. EDIT the second, 7:55: Requests are now closed, and I'm about to start into the Flashback. Watch for another post in just a minute! | | Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009 | 8:24 pm [kythryne]

Welcome to Instant Gratification Monday, Tuesday Edition! I will be doing simple custom work from 8:30 - 11:30 p.m. eastern time today on a first-come, first-served basis. The webcam is on. ( You know the drill... )Comments are open as of now. EDIT, 10:05 p.m.: It's a really slow night and I'm still feeling a bit under the weather, so I'm probably going to wrap up early tonight. I'll decide at 10:30; if I do close up shop early, I'll leave the requests open and fill anything that comes in during the last hour tomorrow morning. EDIT THE SECOND, 10:30: yep, I'm closing up early. I will leave this open to requests for another hour; anything timestamped before 11:30 eastern time will be made first thing tomorrow morning. I'll be back on Friday at 8 p.m. for the June First Friday Flashback, and then again next Monday from 6 - 9 p.m. | | Monday, June 1st, 2009 | 6:32 pm [kythryne]

IGM is going to be delayed until tomorrow due to your friendly neighborhood wirebender having a sleep-deprivation-induced headache and a rather impressive inability to concentrate on anythiOH LOOK A BUTTERFLY. Please direct all complaints to Miss Quinn, who required walks at midnight, 1:30, 3:45, and 7:30, and spent the remaining hours of the night bouncing off the walls of her crate, gnawing on Maggie's ears, and fighting with her blankie. (I think the blankie won.) | | Monday, May 25th, 2009 | 10:27 pm [kythryne]

An hour and a half left on the sale, and I just did some final markdowns. Including all of the Valentines pieces, which come with a story that you can't get anywhere else right now. And one thing is down to a dollar. Sale ends at midnight eastern time. | 11:48 am [kythryne]

Welcome to Instant Gratification Monday, Memorial Day edition! I will be doing simple custom work on a first-come, first-served basis from noon - 8 p.m. today, punctuated by a handful of breaks. The webcam is on, although I may wander away from the workbench if I don't have any requests pending, so depending on when you tune in, you may just see the workbench. Or a cat on the workbench. ( You know the drill... )That's it for this week -- thank you all so much! I will be back next week, exact time TBA. | | Sunday, May 24th, 2009 | 5:06 pm [kythryne]

Stone Readings, 5 - 7 p.m.
Okay, so. Stone readings. This is a new thing for me, although I've been doing it informally for myself and others for quite some time. I've assembled a collection of stones, and this afternoon from 5 - 7 p.m. (eastern time) I'll be doing free single-stone readings for anybody who wants one. You can either ask a question -- being as specific or vague as you want -- or just ask me to pull a stone for you, and I'll tumble out the stones and pick one and tell you what it is and what I get from it. (Some people read tarot, some people cast runes, I talk to stones.) In the future, I'll try to do free single-stone readings about once a month, and I will also be available to do longer readings as part of the custom process. As a bonus this week, one person will get a free pendant made from the stone* I draw for them. I'll put everybody's name in a hat at the end of the session. If you don't have an LJ account, please sign your comment with a name or initials so I'll be able to enter you in the drawing. As with anything of this sort, there are no guarantees, and what you do with the reading is entirely in your hands. Use it as a meditation focus, use it to reflect on where you're going with your life today or this month or this year, use it as a way to figure out what color to paint your kitchen... it's up to you. And as always, I remind you that pretty rocks are not a substitute for medical care, legal counsel, psychotherapy, or common sense. Ask away. The webcam is on. * Not the actual stone from my set, but another piece of the same kind of crystal or stone.EDIT, 7:08 p.m.: I just realized that 7 p.m. had rolled right past me, so I'm going to close this to new requests now. I need to take a quick stretch break, but I'll be right back to finish up the rest of the requests as quickly as I can, and at the end I'll put names in my digital hat and draw out a winner for the pendant. Thanks for participating, and I hope you're enjoying this! EDIT THE SECOND, 7:45: all done! According to my spiffy virtual Randomizing Hat, cointeach is the winner of the free pendant, which I will be making up very shortly. Thanks again, and I hope my readings gave you interesting things to contemplate, or at least a bit of entertainment this afternoon. :) If you're interested in getting a longer reading, either on its own or as part of the planning for a custom piece made, feel free to email me any time. | | Saturday, May 23rd, 2009 | 12:00 pm [kythryne]

I'll be putting most of our website inventory on sale at noon tomorrow. This will be a last-chance clearance sale on a lot of items -- on Tuesday, whatever's left becomes fair game for a transfer into my show inventory. So if you've had your eye on something, grab it now! If you can't afford it, ask me about barter, or a payment plan, and maybe we can work something out. There will also be a website update at noon tomorrow; this collection features some new designs with lampwork beads from a local artist. On Sunday, I'm debuting something completely new - stone readings. This is something I've been doing informally for myself for quite some time, and I've begun putting together a dedicated set of stones to use for this specific purpose. I plan to offer free single-stone readings once a month or as I have the energy to spare, and will also do longer readings by appointment or as part of the custom jewelry design process. More details forthcoming! (As with tarot or rune readings, what you choose to do with the reading is entirely up to you, and as always, I remind you that pretty rocks are not a substitute for medical treatment, legal counsel, psychotherapy, or common sense.) Monday I will be doing an all-day Instant Gratification session -- noon to 8 p.m., with occasional breaks because my attention span is only slightly longer than the puppy's right now. *wry grin* The stone readings and IGM will both happen on the Wyrding Studios LJ community. | | Monday, May 18th, 2009 | 9:49 pm [kythryne]

Welcome back to Instant Gratification Monday, broadcasting live this week from the Land Of Sleep Deprivation! I will be doing simple custom work from 10 p.m. - midnight eastern time on a first-come, first-served basis. The webcam is on, and why, yes, those ARE my pajamas you're seeing. ( You know the drill... ) Comments are open as of now. EDIT, 11:50: I am falling asleep sitting up and I still have to take the dogs out one last time before bed, so I'm calling it a night. There will be a sale this weekend and an all-day IGM on Memorial Day, and I'm hoping to also add a few new items to the website. If you're in the area, I'm vending at a craft show at the Concord Birth Center on Sunday, and some new pretties are debuting there, and then the following weekend and every weekend through the end of July, I will be at the Concord Arts Market -- often with guest artists! |
