I'm interested in what you have just said, but lacking brain power at the moment. Expand?

I've traveled a lot, but studenthood has left me broke and research has stolen my interest, so I can't go to the places I still want to.

travelling takes money, unless yr a hitch-hikin' hobo.
it's not always a matter of choice.

My thoughts exactly. I sure as hell don't CHOOSE to stay where I am, but I also am not one to blindly cast off in any direction without a plan or financial security.

right? sure would be nice to have the money & leisure to travel, but considering my current position, vicarious travel will have to suffice.

I never understand why people feel the need to add snipey comments when they're replying to other people.

Maybe a more appropriate metphor would be to say that the world is a bookstore. Some books are really amazing and we'd really like to read them, but they happen to be insanely expensive and written in another language. So we watch the movie version instead.

I like it too.

I heard that everyone was reading the Dan Brown novel the Da Vinci Code, but I was too lazy so I thought I would wait for the movie to come out. Then I heard the movie was rubbish and anyway I was too lazy to go to the movie.

Yeah, you're right. People are pretty fucking lazy, and really quick to settle for second best if it means they don't gotta get off the couch.

i'm guessing you interpret that reasoning as "people are pretty fucking lazy?"

One of my favorite quotes of all time. Maybe because I've been one of the few lucky enough to have traveled the world. But, based on my trips and the wisdom I've gleaned from each, this quote is so, so true.

You also have to figure that travel doesn't have to be taken literally. It's about experience. A rich life isn't made from exotic locales (not saying they don't help of course) but fantastic stories.
