filmed all of riotgrrlscout's scenes for "The Sigil" this afternoon. It went very very well, and her performance makes me think I might be a pretty good director after all. :)

I finally got around to cleaning up the minor problems in my short script this weekend, so I'm ready to film it, and I'd like to film it next weekend. Since most of the characters are based on people from here in wtf_comedy, I wanted to post the casting call here first before I started looking for actors elsewhere. Oddly, this is a serious horror script, so if it works out then WTF Comedy's first project would be a horror short without much comedy at all. As I've mentioned to some of you before, this short is epistolary, and filmed entirely through webcams, and none of the characters are ever in the same shot together; the characters in the short are in different cities, and it's entirely doable for the actors to actually be in different cities, so if you're really interested in the project but don't live in Albuquerque, we can accommodate. I would like to try to get this whole thing filmed over Thanksgiving weekend, although, again, its epistolary nature means that we can film one or two of the actors later if we need to.

OK, here are the five roles; they all have roughly-equal screen time:

Jared is based on me. I could play him if we're short on actors, but I would prefer not to, and think that djsparkydog or damndirtyzombie would work well in the role.

Dale is based on 7ghent. I think aequitus could also do it.

Nadine is not based on anyone in particular. She is an upbeat graphic design student at CalArts. I think riotgrrlscout would be good for the role.

Lindsay is a severely autistic woman who rocks back and forth and stares off-camera and whose lines are read by a speech synthesizer. She's based on this person. As such, her role really doesn't require much acting. I was hoping that cuntchocula or xuer would be up for playing Lindsay.

Scott is based on a combination of elijahdprophet, hoshizora, and wookie_x, so hopefully one of those three people is interested in playing him. I think brianarn could also do it.

If you're interested in acting in this, or helping out with filming or special effects, please let me know in the comments of this post and I'll send you a script! Again, I'm hoping to get at least some if not all of this filmed over Thanksgiving weekend (which is next weekend).

Barbeque?

In honor of our hard work and awesome success as a troupe I think we should have a barbeque sometime labor day weekend. It wasn't easy setting the world on fire, but somehow we all took time out of our busy lives to make it happen.
...
No wait. We didn't do a goddamn thing this summer.

We should have a barbeque anyway. What say you all?

Drowsily laying in bed last night I swear every time the cook on TV said "non-stick" cooking spray it sounded instead like "gnostic" cooking spray.
Therefore, I propose there be a faux ad for the product "I *believe* it's not butter" and maybe one for a rival agnostic cooking spray: "It might be butter, but I'm not certain".
