AboutThis is a community dedicated to exposing bad writing in erotic fiction (especially fanfiction) and promoting good, realistic writing of sex scenes. Consequently, the entire community has an NC-17 rating, and if you're under the legal age for viewing pronographic materials in your area, you shouldn't be here.
(But it's not like we can stop you.)
After the umpteenth bad sex scene in fanfic, the maintainers of this community finally broke. Otherwise excellent writers were faltering at the sex scenes, producing unrealistic, ludicrous, or just plain impossible descriptions of sex. The maintainers, having actually had sex, were always shocked out of story continuity and left feeling disappointed and... unfulfilled.
We decided to try to do something about it.
The aim of Writer's ORGASM is to provide resources and articles that we hope will contribute to a better understanding of sex and better sex scenes in erotic fiction. Everyone, writers and readers alike, are welcome to contribute and discuss cliches, inaccuracies and how to avoid them.
Our other aim is to (gently) mock bad sex scenes in fiction. Because snark is good for the soul.
Community Rules:
1) We mock the writing, not the writer. If you post an excerpt from a particularly bad sex scene, do not include the author’s name, the title of the piece, or a link to the piece. If the excerpt is from a published work (such as romance novels, mainstream published fiction, etc.), this rule does not apply.
However, praising writers for good effort and good research is always in order. If you post an excerpt from a particularly good sex scene, please do provide more information about the piece.
2) Hateful language – as in, insults and slurs based on gender, sexual orientation, race, nationality, etc. – is not permitted, except as it may occasionally appear in quotations from excerpted works (and be aware that if you just happen to post only excerpts from works of a certain, hateful type, we’ll lose patience with you very quickly).
3) Articles, pictures, and lengthy posts should go behind a cut. Please also try to put potentially offensive or triggering materials behind a cut, preferably with a warning about the contents.
4) This isn't a sex education community, and you shouldn't take anything here as medical advice. That said, we value accuracy, safer-sex and sexual equality, so you're unlikely to learn anything actually wrong.
Breaking the rules may result in warnings, deletion of posts and/or comments, or banning.
(But it's not like we can stop you.)
