David Gemmell's final book

  • 2nd Sep, 2006 at 6:26 PM
This splendid news just in via Stan Nicholls.

"Transworld are delighted to announce that David Gemmell's wife, Stella, is going to complete FALL OF KINGS, the final novel in the Troy trilogy.

David delivered 70,000 words of FALL OF KINGS to his editor the day before he went into hospital, taking the story up to the final siege.

He had discussed the storyline with Stella who has been deeply involved with the research and creation of the trilogy since its inception in 2003. He left behind him a chapter by chapter plan as to how each character should develop and how he saw the final novel ending.

David's editor at Transworld, Selina Walker, says she's in no doubt that there is no better person than Stella to conclude this magnificent trilogy of novels in the way David would have wanted."

Hurrah.

Great news
That is such brilliant news. Although I've yet to read David's Troy series (I'm currently re-reading all of his classic Drenai novels) I have heard only good things about it. Some have said it is his best work. Whether it is or not, it would have been such s shame if his final legacy was never completed.

I'm sure Stella can deliver a fantastic ending to the series; good luck to her, and thanks to David for having the bravery and consideration to make plans in the event of his death, so his readers would not be disappointed. That act alone - thinking always about his writing and his fans - sums up the man.
