| Hey gang. I just started a music blog called Dude, You Gotta Hear This! and I'm looking for some contributors. My goal is that the blog will expose more people to bands and artists that you can't hear on mainstream radio or MTV. It's open to any genre; from punk to rap to gospel. If you're interested, let me know. And mods, if this isn't allowed, I'll delete this post. | |

| The world is swarming with cheap ploys and salesmanism -- and yet here I am, standing before you, about to deliver a pitch. I suppose it's like gravity, or the circulation of the blood, just a fact of life. (I know that should be a semi or dash, but I just got done reading Mario Puzo, who uses comma splices with great liberality, you start to get used to it after awhile.) All this to say, my script evaluation website which I run with a friend -- we're having a screenplay contest, with some pretty good prizes. If you have a script lying around you think is pretty good, you might want to check it out. Buzz on over to storypros for more information. This has been a moderator-approved post. Thank you for reading. :) | |

| Hi all,
I am currently compiling a book with a secured publisher about what people don't learn in college. The book combines real-life stories from recent graduates with time-honored insight from industry experts.
I need more grads to interview! Would you mind filling out the questionnaire at http://www.kristenfischer.com/college.htm or sending a friend over to the site? I can use more submissions ASAP and would love to hear from you!
Thanks:) | |

| As seen in nanowrimo: brutal_crittersI thought I’d pass this along for those of you who have expressed the opinion that our critiquing is a bit… nice. According to the community info, all the snarkiness you want to dish out is not only tolerated there, but quite expected! So if you’re interested in a harsher critique, or if you want to dish out some of your own, that might be the place for it. Since write_away is a gentler, more encouraging community. | |

| I noticed that there are a lot of fictionists in write_away, and so I would like to take this opportunity to advertise the prose community I just launched. We welcome fiction of all genres: literary, sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, and others. Essays will also be welcomed depending on proposals, although they will most likely be rare. This community is for writers who would like to work on pieces that are longer than typical: ideally a 3,000- to 5,000-word short story every 4 to 7 weeks, although up to three consecutive skips are allowed. ( See the ad. ) | |

| ( Oh no, an image! )We are aiming to become a supportive, creative collective that encourages the development of original fiction - we're likely to have prompts, character development exercises, discussions, and links to original fiction writing resources. You will also be able to post your original fiction works for feedback and critique. If you write fanfiction currently, but are looking to branch out into original fiction, we welcome you as well! There is no application process, no minimum posting requirement, no experience too great or too small - all you need is you and your creativity. C'mon and join already! We're waiting for you. | |

| A friend of mine is embarking on a bit of an adventure with a new Zine, and needs writers! He could also use ideas/suggestions/support in any way, so if you have been through this before or have any tips to offer, let him know! If anyone is interested, you can contact him via e-mail at grayscaledreamer@hotmail.com to discuss the details. =) | |

| Greetings, all! Besides returning to re-immerse myself in the critique-giving, I've come back to encourage the poets and poetry aficionados in this community to check out iron_poet, LiveJournal's very own Literary Stadium! The matches are all in good fun - exhilarating for competitors and viewers alike - and the work created for each challenge always receives very constructive criticism. We're gearing up for our third challenge, but we very much need new, eager challengers to keep the battles going. That said, if you like what you see, consider becoming a challenger ASAP! Fame, glory, and my everlasting gratitude await! | |

| Someone posts a poem, quote, song lyric, picture, etc. (quote the source, of course). Then we, IN REPLY, give back an original piece that is inpired by it. Members post songs - either the actual song for download, or just the lyrics - and then we all respond with poetry&prose inspired by the song or lyrics. | |

| Hey all! Just wanted to give you a happy heads-up that beginnings has returned after a six-month hiatus. For the 18 and older crowd, beginnings is a community where the challenge is to write a 500-word or less piece based on a first-line challenge. | I love plays. Especially of the miniature variety. And a large portion of my friends seem to enjoy them as well. So I thought I'd start compiling some of my favorites. We begin with A Paul Jay Joint. (Warning: it's at least PG-13) Got a miniature play you think I'd like and don't mind sharing? A miniature play is one that is 2 lines to 1 page in length and consists primarily of dialogue. E-mail them to me at jenni.powell@gmail.com and I will begin to post them daily at my blog: jenni_powell. You can also go to The Miniature Play Library section of my memories if you don't want to read all my other silly entries. Let the art begin! | |

| Check out this community - it's for paper journaling daily in 2006. You have to join before the first of the year. embodiment I think that would be fun, and very productive! Who's with me? Come on, you know you wanna... | |

| Hey, I don't know if I can do this or not, but I honestly wanted to tell all the sci-fi/fantasy writers about .... The Other Worlds Writers' Workshop It's a sub/crit group for the speculative genre. These people take their work seriously, and it's the best sub/crit group I've ever found. Trust me... I've joined a few. I just wanted to tell everyone here, cause I really like it and I thought some of you might find it interesting. Okay, that's all. | |

| Thirteen Blackbirds is the online equivalent to the poetry group that meets every fortnight in the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor area. At the meetings, we bring along poetry (usually assignments from the previous meeting), read works of published authors, and talk about why poetry interests, moves and excites us. The emphasis of the community will be on providing quality feedback to members' poems. Fly-by crits are better than none at all, but we all have a chance of deeply influencing the trajectory of a poem. Also, feedback naturally encourages revision, and revision is the tool by which poems become great. Interested? Come on by. 13_blackbirds | |
