13th-Oct-2008 09:44 pm - Monday Word Prompt
Bunny
One word from me. Many words from you. In honor of the very ugly job the Browns are doing (though currently winning) this evening, I bring you one of the ten ugliest words in the English language (so says Willard R. Espy, for whatever that's worth). I like the word and don't think it's ugly, but you can decide:

Crepuscular
Pronunciation: \kri-ˈpəs-kyə-lər\
adj 1 : of, relating to, or resembling twilight : dim [crepuscular light] 2 : occurring or active during twilight [crepuscular insects][crepuscular activity]

In an abuse of modly power, those referencing the book Twilight in any way, shape, or form will be coolly disdained (there's not a lot you can do over the internet, alas).

Those referencing bunnies will be given carrot cake, so long as the bunnies don't have a bad ending.

Anything in between is fair game.
26th-Aug-2008 08:56 pm - Monday Word Prompt!
Ring around the planet
...only one day late!

Today's word is...

floccinaucinihilipilification - an act or instance of judging something to be worthless or trivial

Your (extra) challenge is to insert this into dialogue!
11th-Aug-2008 07:47 pm - Anathema
hayloft
Our [info]clare_dragonfly is on vacation or something, so I am hastily filling in for the word prompt. Let's use the Merriam Webster word of the day for it: anathema.

This word has Greek origin and refers to something held in intense, or religious, dislike. Croutons are anathema to me. The chief librarian muttered anathemas towards the couple playing footsie.

Your prompt is to use this word in a short piece, either a poem or flash fiction. Bonus points if you can point this divine hatred towards something ordinarily harmless, something you personally like.
