| Name: | Writer's Block | |
| Theme: | Writing for writers | |
| About: | This is a community for writers of any sort, be it poetry, fan-fiction, essays or whatever tickles your fancy. The purpose of this community is to offer a place for people to put up ideas or parts of works in progress that they want comments and critique on. If you’re stuck on a part of your story or you want to know what someone thinks about some idea for then this is a community for you. Completed works can be linked to here, but shouldn’t be put in an entry. This is only for works in progress, plot bunny adoptions and/or give away and needing help with ideas. Prompts may actually happen here. If they do, you're not obligated to write them. Generally they'll be whatever I feel might be interesting to write. Or if something strikes my fancy. Challenges may also happen. If you know of anyone looking for submissions for magazines, books, things like that, post them here too! After all, getting paid for writing is even better than writing itself! Rules for Writer’s Block: 1. This is an open community; anyone or everyone can post something on it. They can also comment on it. This means you must respect other people and their works. If you don’t like something, fine. You can say it, but say it constructively. Why don’t you like it? Just don’t say this is a piece of shit, stop writing before you cause the intelligence of humanity to drop thirty points. 2. The rules of English are your friend. Grammar is your friend. You don’t have to be perfect, but you have to respect them. This means that Netspeak will not be tolerated, except for parody purposes, or if it adds something to the story. If the entire story is composed or comments to another person are composed of Netspeak you will be warned. Do it again and say good-bye. 3. When posting, if it is longer than two hundred odd words or contains material above “R” it must be put behind an LJ-Cut. The above “R” rated material must also have a warning, indicating that it is above an “R” rating. 4. When writing fan fiction you WILL respect the canon. You will not run willy-nilly over the place with the characters and places. The Canon comes first. This means no Mary-Sues (unless for parody purposes). If you don’t know something ask. That’s what this community is for. Or look it up. AU is not an excuse to ignore canon. Fan Fiction is not an excuse to ignore canon. If you want to do that, write an original fiction piece. 6. Flame wars will not be tolerated. The same goes for Trolls. Trolls will be pickled and stored for the winter. 7. The moderator reserves the right to modify and change the rules at any time. 8. There is no rule number five. Useful links Ralan a site devoted to markets for book publishers, magazine publishers, pro and semi pro markets and all sorts of fun things like that. The Universal Mary Sue Litmus Test Check to see how well your characters score. Good for knowing how Sue'y your characters are. | |
