Welcome!
Hello and welcome to the fan based charity project created to help support a cause that is near and dear to our favorite rocker's heart.
Background
David Cook burst onto the scene during Season 7 of American Idol. Early on he declared himself as a Word Nerd and the fans followed suit. As the season wore on, his fan base grew and he showed us his heart. Winning Idol has allowed him to raise awareness to a cause that has affected him most of his life. We, the word nerds, have decided to come together to help out in any way we can.
About Us
We are a group of word nerds who have merged two of our loves in an effort to lend a helping hand. We are crafters who will be creating items to be sold at a shop at Etsy. The proceeds from this will then be donated to the American Cancer Society.
*You do not have to be a crafter to join the community! Everyone is welcome to view the items for sale and to provide input.*

Hi everyone! I know that I promised that I would revamp this, but I haven't really had the time. Anyway here's a quick post as to what's on tap for the rest of the year.
We currently have a bunch of Kristen's (
finneadan's) necklaces and bracelets still available at our etsy shop. I'm also still available to create the "Word Nerd" bracelets seen here, as well as keychains seen in the same post.
I will keep all the previous posts, but since I haven't heard from the other crafters in a while, I've decided to only post info of those who's items are featured either in the shop or here. We still welcome all of you crafters who would like to donate, but it'll be on a "freelance" basis.

Hi everyone!
I've finally found time to update here. I want to thank you all for your support this past year. I really hope that in the coming year I'll be able to get more done to help raise money for such a worthy cause.
I would also like to wish you and your families Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year! May all your wishes come true.
---
As for this community, I will be completely revamping it. I'm guessing that most of you who signed up at the beginning will be freelancers, and I'm okay with that. At any point in time you are more than welcome to contact me and let me know of any items you would like donate and have sold at our store in etsy.
Everything will get a complete overhaul. I have a few ideas floating around in my head, but I'll keep those a secret until I figure out all the details. ^_^
Thank you all again for all that you have done!

Hi all! Big news,
finneadan contacted me about two amazing items that she would like to put up for sale in our Etsy shop. There's one problem though, we have no idea what a resonable price would be for each item. Therefore we are asking you for your opinion.

Hi all! We haven't neglected this community... I promise! We just wanted to wait until everything was pretty much finalized and whatnot.
Anyway, wrdnrds4acs has now merged together with a bigger project along with projects at d-c.org to become Cook Fans Conquering Cancer. Our very own Deana is co-heading the organization. The new site is cookfanscc.com.
Oh yeah, just want to let you know that for the month of July we raised $38. Thank you all for your support!
---
I would like to ask you all for your help. I have recently lost my muse and have no idea what more to create. Are there particular items that you would like to see or whatnot? Any ideas would be very helpful in sparking my creativity. :) Thanks!

I recently received an email from an organization that is working toward the same cause. They are currently looking for a donation of a recipe for their annual cookbook. All the information will be following, but if you'd like more information on the organization please go to TBKF.

Hi Everyone!
I contact MyFox Kansas City yesterday, the local KC station who has been doing all of the DC coverage, to tell them about our project. Well, Rebecca responded and has written a story on us! Here is her letter to me and a link to the story. :)
We all better get crafting, haha!
Happy 4th to Everyone!
Deana

I thought that I would have the bracelets done by tomorrow, but due to some measuring error, I had to start over. That put me back a day or so. I'll have them done by Friday and can have them mailed out on Saturday. I apologize for the setback.
Once everything is finished, I'll make a new post with a photo of your bracelet along with the final cost (if you've ordered a keychain as well). So please check back often. Thanks again!

I've got two afghans in the works right now, no pics yet though. I hope to have 1 done in a week, no more than two.
The first one is a patchwork type design, squares of autumn inspired colors sewn together. I'm aiming for it to be 32" by 48".
The second is cream, dark orange and a chili red color strips which will be sewn together to make an afghan approx the same size 32" by 48".
At some point I might branch out into scarves (which I love to make, quick and easy!) and maybe handbags.
