Okay, I admit it. I'm spoiled. But after living the same schedule with my mate for the last 14 months (after years of never living the same schedule as *anyone*)...I am *not* coping well with his current work schedule.( Details behind a cut to spare the give-a-fuck-impaired... )

I see the moonlight gate, I see the face of Time Future that God creates Heights that the spirits climb I'm the horizon knight, My memories unfold, Sinking so deep in light, Darkness one must behold Of what I used to be, Evil that I had seen My path is healing me, Turning me free and clean Free from the bounds of steel, Free from the desperate sighs, Far from the storms unreal, Far from the souls of ice Enter the silver gate, Kneel 'fore the holy Throne, Greeting your smiling fate, Feel what remain'd unknown

King Sun marching in the dance is haloed by planets in the Milky Way. Helios! Your benevolent gesture is sent down to nymphs of Ceres. They are contemplating your face in silence. Dispassion is your virtue, Phaeto! Heraclites would gain enlightenment from this music of light which unveiled your path to the far-lands the dwelling of the Night. O, Hesperia! Your dance is wild like the Ocean calling. A virgin once heard the same motive near the walls of Carthago, entered the flames of the eternal Sun’s bed. Don’t cry from love even at your death-time, Dido. The rainbow goes down to you from Lato, Who gave birth to Apollo.

So my halfling sorceror character in the D&D game I'm currently involved with can't wield a lot of fun weapons, as he's a spellcasting fella. When he DOES get his stab on, he favors the punch dagger, pictured here. It's all about getting in close and working it all out, if ya know what I mean.
Blake and I just finished regaling each other with our evening's tales of customer service horror, and the decision was made that we need to get a FEW of these things. You know, just for work. If we use 'em or if we don't, it's a win-win situation, really.
PUNCH DAGGER!!!

Obama and McCain blew chunks at this debate. It makes me miss McCain version 2000 and really really miss Hillary. Based on their general evasiveness in answering the questions, going over the time limit that both parties agreed to adhere to, we are merely electing who is going to fuck us in the ass next. We get the leadership we deserve.

I was so painfully reminded on this listening to McCain talk tonight, I felt the need to share. Up to 1:11 I kept expecting McCain to yell,"What the hell is wrong with you people?!"

| Subject: | And thus goes the weekend |
| Security: | Public |
Had my first real full weekend off since starting the new job. A whole Saturday and Sunday to do with what I wished. And that included:
A) A trip to the mercado for supplies like potatoes and tortillas and cilantro and cheese and stuff. The things that will keep me bound together during the work week...
B) A revisiting of the PS2 game Kingdom Hearts, an RPG that combines characters from the Final Fantasy series with Disney characters (weird, I know, but oddly compelling). Thus far I have trounced through Wonderland, and am currently saving gorillas with Disney Tarzan.
C) An EPIC session of Dungeons and Dragons. Yes, THAT Dungeons and Dragons. Been playing with a cool group of folks for about a month of Saturdays now. Haven't been anywhere near this game since, oh, I dunno, 1983 or so. Now that I'm all grown up, I get to drink beer and eat fun snacks whilst blinding goblins. I am a halfling chaotic neutral sorceror with a viper familiar and a +1 staff. BOOYAKA.
D) Sleeping in, which these days is about 9:30 or 10 (Thank you, body clock. Kind of).
E) An intense work session with my performer friends who I am helping craft a sitcom pilot for. Lots of arguments about narrative structure and logic, and how to solve narrative problems in a 23 minute structure. And create two sympathetic leads. While all the while keeping the funny. If this gets picked up, best BUH-LEEVE I'm getting a producer credit on this mug.
F) Shaving my head...with a #2 clippers, so there's still a nice peach-fuzz shine to it.
G) Read Kyle Baker's Nat Turner, a graphic novel about the titular character. Very moving and extremely powerful. It's a part of our history that shouldn't be brushed aside.
H) Tried to watch Ironic Iconic America on Bravo, but my TiVo went on the fritz. RIVES BROKE MY TIVO, DAMMIT. Now, back to the proverbial grind, selling geegaws and gadgets to the affluent locals. It's the kind of whorin' that lets me stay fully clothed. In clunky dress shoes. God bless Sherman Oaks! God bless the Fashion Mall!!!
