Just stop it already!

There's been debate about maturity and intelligence level depending on which faction you choose to play, I know... and the psychology behind what faction/race/appearance/class/spec we decide to play really does fascinate me. On the other hand I do believe that it's utter crap that the side you play and the character you choose is any reflection upon your intelligence because let's face it, idiots are everywhere. You're just as likely to find a mindless human tank as you are a mindless undead priest (just examples for example-y sake, no offense).

Annoyance and Triumph

So I got DCed yesterday, for an extended time, in the middle of a SLabs run.  I decide to check my server's board on the official forums to see if anyone else knows anything about it.  And I happen to see a thread with my character's name on it.

I check it out—some complete stranger is flaming me, mostly about my gear. )

Bear in mind that this is a level 33 who's not even on my server.  So I suspect either a troll—and I don't mean Darkspear—or a sock-puppet for someone whom I either /gkicked or told off in the past.

However, by the time that I got to the thread, several people—including a former guildie—had already jumped to my defense.  My own contribution to the thread ended up adding up to "Who the hell are you, and isn't it uncomfortable to sit on your own head like that?"  (I know, it only encourages them.  But I couldn't resist.)

But enough about that...onward and upward.  My guild has been working on a Kara team recently; unfortunately, it hasn't entirely come together.  So those of us who've been able have been...well, I'd say we were PUGging it, but it's a bit more organized than that.  Thus far, we've taken out Attumen, Moroes, the Maiden, the Opera (R&J, dammit...the Wolf drops the only elemental piece in the whole raid) and the Curator; we're working on Nightbane and Shade.  But aside from all the badges that I've picked up between Kara and heroics...last night, these dropped.

So...I now have my first piece of Tier 4.  Unfortunately, I only have one screenshot of us standing over a dead boss.  (When we get Nightbane, you can bet I'll screenshot that!)

I can't believe you just did that....

Wow, I had to share this because it's the single jerkiest thing I've ever seen anyone do in WoW.

Last night I managed to get into a PuG to do the quest "The Ata'mal Terrace." For those not familiar with the quest, you have to kill three 70 elite Illidari orcs who summon a crap ton of regular 70 orc warriors, then summon another elite and kill him for a gem that you turn in to Akama to complete the medallion of Karabor.

This Tauren (shaman I think) had been hanging around the terrace on his flying mount, and when he saw us start the fight he /cheered at us and clapped and I thought "Wow, that's cool" considering that we were Alliance.

Until what he did next.

He parked himself right by the summoning orb you click after you kill the initial mobs, then once we had cleared the elites and the adds, he summoned the other elite and whacked it once--graying the mob for us! We had to kill it because otherwise it would have killed us, and we couldn't run away because we hadn't cleared the whole zone up to the terrace and we would have been axed on the way down. So we just had to take this guy down then watch while this @#$#ing Tauren looted our kill and completed the quest for himself! And then, of course, we had to wait for the mobs to respawn and do the whole thing again!!

Seriously, how rude can you get?!

...So my petty revenge was to /slap him when I saw him in the Warden's Cage when I went to turn in the quest. Honestly though, now I find it more funny than anything, how much of a loser do you have to be to pull something like that?

When good things go bad..?

Reintroduction, if you're interested )

I'd thought for a couple days about asking here for guild advice, but then this came up and I just feel the need to rant =) So for a couple of months now I've been doing at least one heroic a night with the same group. Sometimes the other dps changes for whatever reason but the tank and healer are always the same. It's been great... but then there's been the last two nights making me just want to scream.

The night before last we ran Heroic Sethekk, and we had the full normal group. We always summon Anzu (healer's a druid) then go on to Ikiss. Just before Ikiss one of the dps asks what other we're going to run, someone said the daily was Bot, so we decided on doing Bot after. It's all good - I'm soooo close to getting all my badges for my robes so I'd have probably run them all night heh. After Ikiss goes down though the tank tells them they need to arena, then after we'll do Bot. One dps tells us it should only be about 20 minutes. Two hours later I ask the tank if it's been called off or what and he says that he doesn't even remember saying he'd do it. One of the dps got sick so I guess that canceled it... it would have been nice to be informed.

So last night after we got the tank to take us to Bot (we kept the daily heh) we decide to try Shadow Labyrinth for the first time in heroic setting - we'd done it many times in normal. Our shadow priest decided to turn holy and our hunter was in Kara, so I was with the tank, healer, and 2 new dps. This made me happy because after downing Murmur I'd have the badges to get my robes. It started out good, then though when we got to Hellmaw I noticed a huge difference in the aggro-holding of the tank. I had to pop soulshatter and still had to stop dps. I died twice with Blackheart (one fight, battle rez), three or four times with Vorpil - dots keep ticking so it takes a while for my threat to go down even if I stop dps... he normally picks it back up easily.

Then though we got to Murmur. Our first attempt was short-lived because none of us had read up on the boss to see how he'd be different. I had the healer and tank on vent so I opened up WoWWkiki and found Murmur. I read everything it said about Murmur in heroic over vent to them, then explained in party chat. I showed everyone where to stand then we started. I got touched first, so while running through the boss as the wiki instructed I got aggro and died - while noticing our pally tank wasn't even tanking, he was standing there healing.

WTF. Really? WTF. I'd read several times to him how Murmur is unforgiving about not being tanked. He said when the healer said something to him "I wasn't even worried about tanking I was just trying to keep you up" - to which I said "so that's why you had no aggro and I died" - and was just not responded to. Then "guys my guild says to run into that tent when you're going to explode" - that's one strategy in normal mode yes but did you listen to anything either of us had said? You can't even make it to the tent in time - the healer had tried our first time around. I mean it would have been one thing if I was coming up with a strategy from nowhere, but WoWWiki, I think, is pretty freaking reliable.

The other dps wanted to try again so we did, and failed. By that time I was just pissed off and really didn't want to be there anymore, final badge for robes or not. It's so weird because he's normally so nice and there's never been any issues with him... then all the sudden he's not listening in vent (more than just with the boss stuff), not holding aggro... just all of this. It makes me sad =( and now I'm afraid to do anything tonight because it's not fun - why play if it's not fun?

Transfer Woes

So, there was an unusual free transfer lately from a few Oceanic PvE servers to Thaurissian, an Oceanic PvP server. It was Alliance-only to fix some faction balance problems, and a lot of people took the opportunity.

It's not the server change that's bothering me. )

Endless pugs and WTH?

P.S. 2 - thank you all who offered suggestions on how i can link my computers - i'm looking around for KVM switches now.  and yes, i have my general files backed up on DVD disks, but I don't think I can trasfer programs from one harddrive to another, when aforementioned programs are limited license (so i only have back up disks, not full install software), especialy since the other computer is NOT gateway (I shoudl have made that clearer, sorry)  If its possibile, its beyond my limited computer tweaking capabilities, so KVM switch seems to be the best solution :)  again, thank you all

Where does it become not my business?

I had a long, elaborate post here going into a lot of detail and crap. But it's pretty extraneous, so I'm cutting back to the tl;dr version.

I no longer raid, but helped found a raid group. I've seen something in the WWS (I still keep an eye on them, I'm nosey and want them to do well) which is wrong in the "plz lrn2play kthxbai" way. It's not troublesome currently, but will become a problem as they progress through T5 and T6 content.

Being uncertain how to deal with it, I posted a "this is a problem, this is why, this is what can be done about it" to the raid leader's forum (which I still have access to) but... gah. Part of me says "this isn't your business anymore, you're not participating in the group" and part of me wants to have long talks and educate the masses.

(Yes, I'm a pushy, bossy, opinionated know-it-all, why do you ask? >.>)

So, should I be reading? Should I be examining the WWS reports? Should I be pointing this stuff out to the current leadership? Should I be pulling people aside and telling them how to play?

plz halp...

Small Guilds & Big Guilds

I know there are guilds with members numbering in their thousands, but I think a lot of people running relatively smaller guilds forget that 40-150 people is still a lot of people. Imagine all of those people in one room, with their different opinions, lifestyles and schedules. Imagine all the organisation it would take, if they were all in one place, to get them together to perform various tasks - small groups of 5 doing those team building exercises, groups of 25 learning mass dances, or even the entire group of people (say 100) doing a march or parade.

Then think about how well your 'small' guild of 100, or even 30, gets together to do fun things. 10 people in different time zones, different ages, different expectations. Artificial limitations of what they can and can't do, extremely specific tasks that they have to do. Random things for them to react to.

I'm organising a party for my guildies next month. There are about 115 people or so in the guild, we'll get between 15 and 26 people turning up. I'm currently a little bit paniced about organising transport, food and entertainment in our smallish apartment for these people. And then I thought - 3 times a week 25 of us get together and work as a team. On those other days we are forever forming up smaller parties and groups do do retro-raids, heroics, dailies and so on. Surely a party isn't as hard as this 24/7 scheduling we have going on.

So. Yeah. Anyone in what they call a small guild - doing anything as a team is still an achievement. Don't paint yourself as unimportant just because there are less accounts in your /guildinfo - you matter as much as any guild with 500+ members (and I mean members not characters.)

Grr!

Twice in one day has the "this is just a game, lighten up" argument come at me. First was in this thread and then again, just now, in a Mara run. No, please, it's totally okay to say "that bitch raped you!" because it's "just a game" and people need to "lighten up already". Telling me I'm "sensitive" because I'm a woman earns you double-plus points, pal. D<

I know it's a game, thanks for reminding me, but I don't spend 10-15-20hrs a week on something not marginally important to me.

I'm just so RAR! I HATE that argument with the fire of one million suns. "It's just a game." It's just such a cop out, especially when EVERY ONE knows what a bullshit excuse it is.

PuG rant, just had to get it off my chest

Dear Mr. Mage,

Are you sure you aren't actually a brick wall masquerading as a human? Because I asked you four damn times last night to stop pulling mobs before I had a chance to and you just completely ignored me and kept merrily going about your business. I don't care how leet your dps is, you're not the one wearing plate. I am. If the tank tells you to stop then you STOP. I hope next time you're in a group it's with a tank who's much more vindictive than I am and actually has the guts to let you die when you pull that crap. Maybe then you'll finally learn your lesson.

No love whatsoever,
A Pissed Off Pally

... Sigh... I swear I wanted to reach through the screen and punch that guy in the face by the end of the run. Especially since he went and pulled the last boss as well. Yeah, I know, I really shouldn't have put up with it and just told the group leader to boot him or let him die or something but sadly I'm far too nicey-nice to do that. -_- And I didn't want to drop group myself since the priests and rogue there were doing a decent job and it didn't seem fair to abandon them.

Oh well. At least we did suceed in making it all the way to the end and killing the last boss despite the stupidity of the mage. First time I've ever managed to conquer BRD. I swear that place is the Instance from Hell. :p

Ding!

In a statement that says too much about my life (I am World of World of Warcraft) I'm now part of the 3rd 70 club. (and yes, that's hpriest #2) I didn't get a dingshot, I was eyeing my XPs and hoping to ding on Akama, but no, I was short and ended up dinging on a felboar.

The character I made as kinda a goof-off when I was really starting to burn on raiding back in March finally dinged. Though I don't know why I say "finally" as mid-March through mid-June is my fastest real-time level ever. But my husband and I had a long stall-out at ~64 (ugh Auch) where we didn't do anything at all.

And now... Do some dailies, finish levelling my cooking and fishing, keep praying the Alchemy lottery will bless me (it started so well, too! Flask of Relentless Assault dinged off my first Mad Alchy potion. Now 375 and nothing since. Boo!) Farm up a Talbuk (kinda skipped Maghar since I'd done Nagrand on both my Ally 70s) a Netherdrake and an Azure Whelpling...

But after the push yesterday (srsly, 1 2/3 levels, oy) I'm gonna be doing it sloowly.

And as a note: Aggro-chaining with a flying mount? What's up with this? Is it a bug?

Ok, maybe its just me, but I'm disappointed in my guild. We're young and what not, but things are not going as I had hoped. I mean, I would think the whole part/reason of the guild is to help all guild members achieve mystical/magical lvl 70 (*cue 'ahhh' sounds*), do dungeon runs (which I've been trying to get my group to do from the get go), raids, etc. For a period of time, me and 2 other players were running around having fun together (these are former Alliance players) and I learn from their son that they are playing alts I guess. For how long, I don't know. I asked them about "inactive" players, should they get the boot and the couple (druid) was like "No no - in our Horde guild members would come and go, sometimes weeks or days or years and then they would come back"
Yes, but out of courtesy did they say "when?" A hint maybe or say "Taking a break for abit" something to that extent?

I'm new!...and angry:\

So, about three weeks ago I was asked to join this guild that ran kara a lot and was just getting into mag, gruuls, and za. Everything was going great, I was getting new gear and starting to be a pretty good hunter. Then all of a sudden about a week ago there started to be wispers of a possible merger and the officers were running things like SSC and TK with this other guild. Meanwhile we weren't being told anything. Then today I log on and in about 20 minutes all of our main tanks, officers, healers and the GL left and joined this other guild. That was that, no explination or goodbye, NOTHING. For the next hour they would randomly sign in on their alts and remove them from the guild also.
Needless to say the guild totally fell apart in about 2 hours, I even left and am searching for a new guild, but I'll probably join my old one with just my best friend and I in it, cus we don't suck :\

I'm just really mad that they would first just give up on new members like that, and then second just leave without saying anything...

But yea, Hi! I'm new :)

Ok, I recently respecced my resto druid to feral. Granted I'm not tons experienced with tanking yet, but if a group wants you to tank don't they, oh...typically let you go in first instead of running ahead and agroing everything in sight, then getting pissed when they die and tell you that you suck? Am i wrong here?

And to the main idiot of that scenario, who whispered me that I sucked after i left party and then blocked me so I couldn't reply...bite my huge cow/bear ass.

Rar.

So I'm gonna rant here, maybe it will bleed off the urge to say/do something stupid. I'm feeling massively discontented.

Advance raiding group is assy to non-raiding guildies, WHAT A SURPRISE. )

Okay, WTF.

I'm half tempted just to /gquit in disgust. Aside from a couple personal friends who are helpful, nobody in this guild ever does anything to help anyone but themselves.

Although even /gquitting wouldn't address things fully. I'll be damned if I get shut out of the raid channel, a lot of good friends of mine from other guilds are there.

What should I do?

[info]sorairodays

So, the game has pretty much become unplayable for me now.My ISP, Optimum Online, seems to be having issues with WoW; and I'm not the only one alone on this matter - There is a whole 15 page thread in the tech support section for it. Apparently it's on WoW's end, not OO's. I'm thinking about stepping away from the game right now and work on something; or maybe a new game; because when you can't talk to NPC's every 5 minutes and have to reboot WoW just to level a alt to do 2v2's with your brother on another server, it gets on your last nerve. At first I thought it was Medivh being mildly retarded; but it's happening on the server me and my brother picked, Ravencrest, as well(We decided to do this for fun over the summer. Since..we're actually getting along.)

Anyone else a disgruntled WoW player right now? I mean, it might not be exactly them(it's apparently because OO's(or other ISP's in the NE region) not a high priority on packets on ATT's network); but it's frustrating. And skimming over the thread, a bunch of other people in the Northeast area with different ISP's have been having lag issues like I have, only on WoW. It's upsetting that I may have to leave a game I like for a while because of this.

(Hope this post made sense. Ear is killing me right now and I'm still trying to resist the doctors.>.> VIVA LA RESISTANCE)

This has got to be against the EULA

The past few weeks I've noticed the same person selling a shitload of rare and epic patterns, weapons, armor, &c on the AH. At first I thought it was probably some high-end guild's bank.

But I've come to the conclusion that he is a bot scanning the auction house continually for new listings and buying out anything that is a certain percentage below average list price.

Case in point: I'd listed Lady Maye's Pendant for 250g buyout several times last week with no luck. So I decided to drop it down to 150g buyout, and guess what! In less than a second I get "A buyer has been found for your item."

So I added this guy to my friends list. He's a Level 1 who stays in Darnassus, and is online 24/7. I reported him but just got the standard email from Blizzard saying that they'd investigate it.

It's taken all the fun out of the auction house for me. It's impossible to find any bargains when there's someone running an automated program to nab them as soon as they're listed (I think it's some modified version of Auctioneer's BottomScanner addon).

Any suggestions as to what I should do to get this guy banned? I'm thinking about posting on the realm forum to bring him to others' attention.
