Another Scryer/Aldor Q.

I'm getting mixed suggestions from my friends, and can't really see a point to siding with either faction. ATM, my Enhance Shammy (Alchemist) is sided with the Scryers, but a friend tells me I should've gone Aldor. Any suggestions? :D

Spriest help

I have a friend who is struggling with an spriest. The character was originally her brother's character, who asked her to take the character when she transferred hers off of her parents' account to hers when she turned 18. So she didn't regularly play the character until around level 50 or so and is now level 60. She's very frustrated with and wants to improve, but isn't sure how to go about it.

I've never successfully gotten a priest above 20 and only know a little bit of what I've asked and read here, really. So I thought I'd ask you all for some advice to give to her. I plan to refer her to shadowpriest.com for some help but I'd like to be able to discuss some of this with her to try to help alleviate her frustrations a bit better.

I don't feel fully comfortable posting her armory without her permission so I'm going to recreate some of the information myself.

Spell Rotation )

Profession advice & Aldor/Scryer )

Thanks so much for any help. I think this character is frustrating her enough to stop playing and I'd really like her to stick around, so all advice we can give her is much appreciated. :)

Lore Question

I have been trying to find this information for a while now, and have come up with blanks. :(

I'm trying to come up with a backstory for my main character, Lilitharien, and I had this idea that she would be born to two Sin'dorei (not sure the classes of them yet) who are members of the Scryers/SSO, and were killed while in service to the SSO, which would leave a young Lil (around equivalent age of 6-8 human years) to be raised in the Shattrath Orphanage.

Given how old a character is when they're created in the game, would this make sense? I've been unable to locate what year the orphanage was established.

Also, I haven't decided on a definite age for her yet, though I'm leaning on making her young... just reaching young adulthood, or a year or so into it. Probably the equivalent of 18-20 years of human age. I would be willing to alter it to fit the above backstory, if that is possible.

Aldor vs Scryer

Thanks for all the advice you ladies have offered in the past, it's been very helpful. ^_^

My paladin has since hit 70, though I've been having trouble figuring out what I want to do with her, and haven't spent much time on her since she dinged. I'm wondering if I made a mistake with choosing Scryers for her (she's protection).... someone in my guild said Scryers was better and I wasn't sure, so I went with them... but it feels a bit weird for a human paladin to be running around with a bunch of blood elves instead of draenei. ^^; (I feel silly for worrying about that, but it's true.)

My baby hunter is almost 50 now, so I need to decide relatively soon for her too, since I want to set Shatt as my hearthstone soon after getting to Outlands. She's a BM hunter, and a blood elf. I feel like I want to choose Scryers for the opposite reason that the choice of Scryers makes me uneasy for my paladin - I can't see her hanging around with a bunch of draenei. ^^; (And this is on a RP server, so it might actually matter a bit...) I think my hunter might become my new main, since I have more fun playing her, and my guild is made of RL friends so it's more enjoyable for me.

I know about this page and it leads me to believe the rep rewards are better for hunters for Aldor... but this doesn't include the quest rewards. She's a miner/JC, if that matters.... Does anyone have any advice?

Money or gear...hmm

Hello! I'm hoping to get some help with a professions dilemma I'm having currently.

I have a huntergirl who I'm loving to bits right now. She's a leveling machine, having gone from 39 to 48 in about a week. She's my first character on the server she's on, so I've been doing skinning and mining to try to help her make money. Even so, she's still not exactly rich. She's got about 175g total, but is also only 12 levels away from her epic mount. Between her leveling so fast, all the arrows/ammo, training for herself, her pet and the secondary professions, she's not generating tons of money. I am planning on holding her at 49 for the next few weeks to take advantage of WSG/AB weekends. ;) That'll hopefully give me a bit more time to concentrate on doing some farming and money-making.

My vagueish plan was to get her to 70 and then drop mining for leatherworking. And, although I hadn't also completely discounted engineering, I'd begun the process of saving some of the leather she skins and sending it to a bank alt to hold for the grind up of LW.

But...the real problem is that I'm really feeling the lure of LW right now. Especially as she's leveling so fast that my gear can't seem to keep pace with her at all. I was thinking that perhaps if she can make some of her own stuff, that it'll help a bit.

The thing is that I'm afraid of losing the mining as it does generally bring in quite a bit more money than the skinning does. It's an endless debate I've been going through the last couple weeks and it's making me nuts!

So, in order to help me work this out in my head, I was hoping you ladies could give me your opinion or help on a few things...

The most basic question is: 1) Do you think LW worth is it at this point or am I better off waiting?

2) Are the high-end crafted pieces (especially anything BoP) worth taking LW for? There's so much talk about how good the tailoring stuff is, but I haven't heard as much about the LW stuff so I don't fully know how it rates with other gear you can get.

3) For the specialty, Crafter's Tome states that most hunters do Dragonscale. Is that the general consensus?

4) I had bookmarked this site a while back for help with leveling other professions, but there doesn't seem to be anything for LW there. Does anyone have any good sites/guides/etc for the most effecient way to level LW? Especially anything that's going to estimate approximately how many stacks of what type of leather and other things you'll need.

5) What factions should I be looking at concentrating on getting rep with for recipes? Are there reps that are more worth it than others? I'll be looking at the Aldor/Scryer question probably later on when I need to, but what's the opinion on who is better for a BM hunter?

Thanks so much in advance for any help!

Aldor/Scryer

At only lvl 52, I'm jumping the gun a bit, but I'm an obsessive planner. Now, I've done the research, looked at the rep/quest rewards and as a MM hunter nothing really jumps out at me, and makes me want to choose that faction. I don't even know how important it really is, as in will I end up eternally screwed over for choosing one over the other. Now my professions are Enchanting/Jewelcrafting (what can I say...I like suffering), and don't actually plan on leveling them too much more until I get my epic mount money saved up (halfway there). So, I am tempted to choose Scyrer that way I never have to go back into Ulda (I mean, I suppose I could...), but then I read somewhere that there was a Jewelcrafting recipe vendor/trainer on the Aldor tier that had recipes the Honor Hold trainer did not. Now I have looked for more and more information about this...but cannot find it. I have looked through a complete list of the JC recipes and cannot find one that is only sold by someone on the Aldor tier (other than the faction recipes I mean), but being that I am new I may not entirely know what I'm looking for. The only faction gem cut I'm interested in is Scryer side, but even then I'm not sure it's an OMFG MUST HAVE type thing. So yeah...advice/am I missing some awesome reward off either side, and does it even matter?

Scryer and Aldor question

My warlock hit 60, and got the option to side up with either the Scryers or Aldor. However, after checking the rewards for rep in the Brady Guide book, I noticed there's only one Alchemy reward listed.

Has Blizzard changed that since the release of TBC? Or will my 'lock be stuck holding her nose and flipping a coin?

I probably made an introduction post here, but... bleh. Not sure. I don't post here much. Hello there, my main's name is Nao (named after one of my favorite Seramyu actresses, Nao Takagi). She is a draenei mage and currently at level 62. Fire specced. I play on the Staghelm server and belong to a guild called Axes and Allies. It's a raiding guild, but we aren't so hardcore where our members break their backs over it. (I haven't raided in a looong time though... Gotta get my Nao to 70!!!)

Anywho, I'm here with a question: Aldor vs. Scryers? Which should I choose? I'm looking for which has the best rewards for my mage. I'm already friendly with the Aldor, but I have yet to complete the quests to finalize my allegiance.

Thanks for the help! Oh, and here's a funny picture as thanks. The story behind it is, well, I was swimming around in Serpent Lake in Zangarmarsh, and well, ... :D

Fishies. )

By the way, who else here names their mounts? I named my brand new green elekk David Duchovny. :D

As my main is slowly creeping towards the lvl 70 mark (at 67 atm) I have a couple of questions on my mind I thought you ladies could help this still noobish girl with. Oh, and yeah, I know my gear and spec are a bit meh, but feel free to ignore XD

1. Is there any way to unsocket gems? I got a belt with sockets ("It's got the power... to move you" XD) the first time I was in Ramparts, and put some gems in it, then a couple of levels later I got a green one that was better... Can I take the gems out and put them in another item? It didn't seem to work when I tried, but I might've missed something obvious like a "CLICK HERE TO UNSOCKET GEMS" button... And even if you can't remove them, can I switch the gems that are socketed, if I get a better one I want to use insted?

2. Exactly how much is the (non-epic) flying mount? I've heard it's 800g for training and 100g for mount, which adds up to 900g (if my math skills don't fool me), but people have said it's 1000g total. Is it just to round it up to a nice big number, or is it actually what it costs?

3. I picked Aldor's side to get a nice and shiny sword out of the deal, but I seem to be doing something wrong. I've only got one quest, to get Marks of Kil'Jaeden, which gave me a big whooping 250 rep, and that was it... Am I supposed to go do this a couple of times to get my rep up to get other quests or am I just missing something again?
I'm not too Shattrath savvy, I keep getting lost, and I lag something fiercly while there (512MB of RAM ftl!) so I havn't spent too much time looking for quests and whatnot. Someone care to push me in the right direction? And yes, I am looking into buying more RAM. We have stores where you can buy computers, printers, modems, external harddrives, cables, and lord knows what, but a little stick of RAM seems to be harder to find -_-

4. This is a bit silly, but I got myself a pair of headphones with a mic, to actually be able to talk with people. Nobody's asked me to get on Vent with them yet, but I figured I'll be lvl 70 soon, and it might be time. Problem is, they did not come with instructions, and I figured that hey, they look simple enough, so no problem. Only that apparently it is... They've got two plugs to connect to the computer, one is greenish and the other one is redish. I currently have the speakers connected to the same greenish slot, and I can get the sound to work with the headphones. But the mic refuses to work, even though I connected it to the slot with the same redish colour. I tried the other colours too, just in case, but no luck. And it doesn't seem to be any other place to plug it in to, but yah, I'm known to miss things. XD Or maybe they're just broken.
I would swallow my pride and go back to the store and ask, but the problem is that I bought it in another city, and I don't think we have those stores here, not that I've noticed at least...

Sorry for the noobness and wall of text (tell me if I should cut it!) and thank you in advance!

Aldor/Scryer quest rewards

Does anyone know of a website that lists quest rewards (not rep rewards) for Aldor/Scryer quests? I dinged level 60 a few days ago and know that I'm going to have to decide between the two in the near future. As a moonkin druid, I've been leaning towards Aldor based on rep rewards but want to know for sure that there isn't going to be some OMGMUSTHAVE item given in a Scryer quest that would cause me to change my mind.

Any info/advice would be greatly appreciated :)
