SW rep?
Okay, so I have just dinged 38 on my main, and I have been feverishly saving up gold and mining everything in sight to make cash for her first mount. I've only got 76 gold and change at the moment, so I'm...sort of relying on having an exalted discount with someone.

Problem is, she's a gnome, and her rep with Gnomeregan is abysmal. She's barely even honored. However, I'm ten thousand away from exalted with Stormwind, and I have this crazy hope that I can somehow manage that in two levels. Horses are much prettier than robo-chickens anyway.

I've done every single SW-rep-giving quest I can find, though, and aside from that one in Theramore where you run around shooting cannons at the sea monster, which I'm just about to do, I'm fresh out of quests. I can do wool and silk turn-ins, which will get me maybe 700 more rep points, but that still leaves me a whole lot of rep left to get.

Does anyone know of anything else I can do to build up my rep with Stormwind? Right now I'm going back over Westfall with a fine-tooth comb to see if I missed any quests there, and it's rather pathetic.

Are you sure you did everything?

http://www.wowhead.com/?faction=72#quests:0+2+1

Don't forget, there are SW rep giving quests on the Draenei starting islands (do the rep rewards still diminish there? I know they did when BC first came out - did they ever change it?) and any instance quests you may have skipped.

You shouldn't have a problem getting exalted. Someone I know got to exalted with SW without even trying. I asked him why he got a horse. The reply, "I dunno"

So we rode off, me the Draenei on a Ram, and him the Draenei on a horse. XD

Oh, the discount is if you're honored with the faction - not exalted. You just need to be exalted to get a different factions mount.

Gah...
Exalted - 20% discount - Access to racial and faction mounts, and tabards
Revered - 15% discount
Honored - 10% discount - Heroic mode keys for Outland dungeons
Friendly - 5% discount

I was unaware of these discount changes! I just remembered the flat 10% honored discount.

So... sweet... my 39 Draenei preistling won't be as poor as I thought she would be after she buys her kitty. XD

Ooooh, I forgot all about the Admiral Odesyus quests! My baby draenei hunter is honored with SW and she hasn't even left Bloodmyst yet.

I know the discount starts at honored, but you get a 20% discount at exalted as opposed to I think a 5% one with honored. WoWWiki has a chart showing how much mount training costs at each level of rep, and since I doubt I can even manage revered with Gnomer before 40, I thought I'd just try to go all the way with SW.

But yeah, I forgot about spillover rep...and I think I missed a few quests in Lakeshire that I could easily solo now.

Thanks!

I was unaware of the rep discount changes!

Originally, you just got a flat 10% discount when you hit honored. So if you got a different factions lvl 40 mount, the cost was 90g. It was like this when I did my rep grind, so I was unaware of the change.

Looks like the honored discount is still 10%, friendly is 5%.

I actually did this, and despite spillover and doing every quest that gave Stormwind rep I could find, I still couldn't quite get it done before 40. I also ended up having to do the repeatable crate quest in Swamp of Sorrows a few times. I actually got exalted with SW at late 40, but I decided since I dinged, I'd grab my faction mount (ugly Elekk, blah!) just to speed things up. I figured, in the long run, it was only an extra 8-10g spent, and it made the last few quests a lot easier to do.

Amiyuy also points out the rep changes: Now everyone gets a rep discount as long as you're Friendly or higher. :)

Ooh. Well, at least if I can get it sometime during 40, I will feel better.

It isn't the mount itself that I'm worried about, it's the high cost of training--I can't buy training from a SW trainer unless I'm exalted with them, at which point it will cost 72 gold for the training and 8 for the horsie for a total of 80 altogether.

If I can't get exalted by 40, I'll have to buy training from the gnomes, and I'm only honored with them, so the training will cost 81 gold and the mount will be like another 9. I know it's only an extra 10g, but I have so much trouble grinding cash that 10g will take me like two extra levels to make.

So really, it isn't the look of the mounts, it's the differing discount levels. I'm not too fond of mechanostriders, but I'd gladly pick one up if only I could afford the training for it. ;___; Goddamn price-gouging gnomes. If only Gnomer weren't such a horrible instance to run, I'd be able to find a group to help me finish my 8 goddamn quests in the instance so I could at least get up to Revered. :P But nobody on my server wants to go within ten miles of the place.

You mention you're a minor, what's the other profession?

My 39 Draenei priest has I think... 98g? Something like that. She's a miner/JC, so I mined all the ore I could, prospected it, and sold the stacks. I'm able to make a least a gold off the lowbie gems.

Otherwise, keep farming your brains out. I took a break from leveling/questing just to focus on farming ore for mount money.

My other profession is blacksmithing, but I haven't bothered skilling that up in almost 15 levels, since I've just been selling all my metal instead. Does prospecting make a lot of money? I don't want to unlearn smithing, since she's expert in it and I'd like to take it back up later after she's got her epic mount, but I have alts who don't even have a second profession and could probably support her with a good moneymaking one.

I forget exactly what level I was when I started farming, but I know I've had the money for the mount for 4-5 levels now. I think my Priest only started with 10-20g, but then I started farming and I made practically all my gold from the gems that were prospected.

It's a bit time consuming, because to prospect something you need 5 of the same ore, so getting a full stack of 20 may take awhile. But I think it's work it when you go to the AH and you realize there are no full stacks up there, and people are trying to sell single lowbie gems for 1g. You pretty much set the price.

Did you do the deadmines/stocks quests? They yield a fair chunk of rep.

Also, don't forget that other faction zones give spillover rep from 10-20+. My nelf druid was exalted with SW by 37; I took her off to loch modan and darkshore, and she got a fair chunk of SW rep just from the ironforge/darnassus spillover.

The Stromgarde quests in Arathi also give SW rep, and I believe the Archbishop in stormwind has a Razorfen Downs quest that gives 350 rep.

Also I was around that at your level. Its suprising how much gold you can make 38-40. Remember the higher level you are the more you make, so at 38 you make more than you did at 37.. etc

Don't be surprised if by the time you ding you have another 50 gold.

But its true deadmines and wailing cavern runs are great for the money. The bloodsails in stv often drop low level epics. Selling faction pets in the goblin auction house to the other side can be good. Fishing for deviant fish.
Stacks of ore from lower level areas. (running around the ring of azuremyst is great for copper, tin in darkshore, mitral in stv on the beach, silver and iron in stv). Stacks of cloth.

Umm thats all I can think of for the money.

Really? Damn, that's pretty awesome. Even if I can't get them to drop any epics, the occasional blue isn't too much to hope for, I'd think. And even if not, sounds like they'd be a good source of random stuff to vendor.

I'm just high enough level now that I can probably kill them without getting hammered, so I'll be hanging around Booty Bay a lot more now. Thanks!

Keep in mind, just for clarification, it doesn't matter what faction level you're at with your main faction. I presume you're just worried because of the discount? My first mount ever I was worried because I wasn't exalted with Stormwind on my human, and my best friend just laughed and said "You're a human, noob ..."

I've never specifically gone after SW rep, but I remember thinking that I'd get Darn rep for a kitty in Desolace and being kinda pissed it was SW. And the Arathi quests I thought would help with IF for a ram? Totally SW too. Grrr....

So did you do all those?

Oh, and do the orphan quest for children's week! It gives you rep for all alliance factions. 500 when you finish the whole thing, and some for each step along the way. If you have a high level friend, you don't have to go to the Shimmering Flats. Get them to buy the ice cream from the innkeeper in Telaar and send it to you. I'm stocking our guild bank with it for the lowbies. :D

Have you done the quests in Redridge? Duskwood? Hillsbrad Foothills? All those zones have some SW rep quests built into them. Also, do the children's week quests! You get alliance rep straight across the board! I think it's about 500-ish total rep.

You can also get a robochicken without getting to exalted, as you're a gnome. You only need the rep if you're getting a non-racial mount.

My Draenei did all of the Draenei quests, the Gnome/Dwarf quests through (Dun Morogh, Loch Modan, Wetlands) Wetlands (which is also very Stormwind-heavy), and everything from Elwynn to Duskwood. Also hopped over to Theramore and by the time she was 36 she was Exalted with SW. I imagine if I had bothered doing the Night Elf quests I would have had it a few levels before then.
