Nihilium only for boys?
I saw an application for the Nihilium guild(said to be the most popular and sucessful guild in Europe?).
And apprently.. they don't accept females.

What do you think of it?

Personly I got pretty pissed.
As you can read in the comments Kungen(the guild leader) says that it's because
"females are haveing problems with taking jokes".
I say they know the wrong females then XD


But at the same time.. let them have it!
Sure if they do sexist jokes that some females find innerpropiate..
let them have their "males only" thing.

I dunno.
What do you think?

I say a bunch of girls apply and lie about being female. Mwahaha. Or not. Hey, if we can have all-girl guilds, why not all-guy guilds. Believe me, I think this guy is an ass (I can read the application at work, sadly) but if that's how they're gonna be, I wouldn't want to be in the guild anyway. /twocents

Part of me wants to say "Well, there are girls-only guilds, so in the interest of equality, it's only fair that there should also be boy-only guilds..."

But the reasons they give are garbage. Females having problems taking jokes? "Drama"?

So if a guy causes drama, it's because he's an jerk/dick/egomaniac, but if a woman causes drama, it's because all females are sensitive and need to be excluded from HARDCORE guilds before they cause more drama?

Rrgh.

They definitely know the wrong women. My closest friends are all male and for that matter, most of my friends. Often times *I* outjoke *them*.

Oh yea, I wanted to say this but forgot to add it to my comment. My friends (in real life and WoW) are almost all male.

But at the same time, while it's cool to talk about your foreskin and the casual sex you had last night with me, it might not be so with another girl (or even a boy) that finds it uncomfortable, and they should learn to respect that without the "you're not allowed in my club!" attitude.

I was like "eh, let 'em have an all boy's guild" until I got to the "girls have a problem taking jokes" part. Uh. If women made a group because "boys have cooties!" (which is basically what he's saying), I think we'd get shat on. Most women's groups are based around being a safe space for women, y'know?

They sound like total assholes that're no fun to play with. XD

There's no denying it that there's a lot of drama when a girl is involved. You can lose really good players over having their heart strung about whereas loot/class issues aren't nearly as bad. I've seen guilds torn apart by it. Sadly, if there's a guild that good and they have a large amount of immature boys, a female in the guild could disrupt it.

Honestly, I'm tired of pissing off the wenches who destroy guilds by being just 'another female in the guild' and seeing the guild get torn apart by it. Next time anyone asks, I've got a 9 inch and that's that :(

I've had this problem in pretty much every guild I've been in too. It's a shame because girls like that who use their sexuality to manipulate men really ruin the rep for the rest of us.

It's his guild... The joys of starting a guild is being able to turn away whoever you want. *shrug* I guess I just don't see that it really matters. There are plenty of female-only guilds as well.

I understand it's europe. I understand that English isn't going to be his first primary language, but if the site and news is going to be written in english they might want to recruit someone who is fluent in it.

Reading that reminded me of some of the horrible calls I get while working tech support...

I agree with the quandary: if there can be all-girl guilds, why not all-guy guilds? Although the same reasons don't hold up for both.

I say it's a guild girls probably wouldn't enjoy much anyway, so who cares?

Where do you see them saying they don't accept girls? (Aside from the comment, which -could- be a joke, I dunno).

Then again, it's hardly surprising... Though, most exclusionary guilds I've encountered have been nationalistic and not sexist :P

i had the whole getting involved/breaking up thing happen in my old guild...so me and my fiance left

he switched servers and is now in a guild with his ex (MY ex best friend -long story-) but i can't join because of her >.<

Sigh. Yet another male-only or male-predominant place (ya know...like most boards of directors, political parties, and other high-power groups...or like most of the people playing WoW too).

I think they're douchebags if they don't allow females to join, that's what I think. Drama can be cause by anyone regardless of sex, gender, nationality, sexuality, etc. Pretending otherwise is a. selective blindness and b. discrimination. Pure and simple.

Yes, I wouldn't want to be in their sucky guild anyway, with that kind of attitude. Unfortunately, that kind of attitude is present in a lot of places, and it really pisses me off.

Ugh. Nihilum is one of the most-progressed guilds in the world, and most-progressed Horde guild. It's undeniable that the more progressed guilds tend to be lacking on women -- it's the hardcore playstyle, I guess, there are just less chicks who are interested in farming for hours for consumables in preparation for hours upon hours of nonstop raiding and wiping... mostly wiping. My guild downed Gruul a few weeks back and are farming mats for Serpentshrine and working on Magtheridon -- and we boast, um, 3 women who raid, and I'm the only full-time female raider. There's no drama around women, it's just that less women apply and are accepted, because they don't want to put all the time in or whatnot.

However, for Nihilum to preemptively deny female players, with all previous experience and gear simply ignored because of the player's gender... well, that's just dumb as hell. Nobody ever even knows until you talk on vent or post a picture or indicate otherwise; gender simply isn't something that should be used to judge a player's in-game abilities.

Is it just me, or does this sound like a full-time job? I thought this was a computer game.

Hardcore raiding is cool and all--not for me, but that's cool if you want to do it. At least those guilds generally are having a good time.

But this? I don't see any trace of "fun" in it whatsoever.

Let them have their stupid guild, and let them be the best in Europe or whatever... I'd rather just play a freaking game.

I don't see the big deal -- it's a private guild, they can invite whoever they want. They could only recruit guys named Bill if they want. Granted, I think their reasoning is a little obnoxious, but if they prefer to have some boy-space, then that's their prerogative. And again, there's girl-only guilds out there.
