Shammy quest issues?
Hey ladies,
I dunno if anyone can help with this, but figured I'd ask:
Ok, My sister (who plays Horde predominantly) finally bit the bullet and created a Draeni Shaman (Bronzebeard). Well, she is currently doing her shammy quest (for fire totem, I believe) and got the torch she needed to go along and finsih her quest. She logged out, and when she logged back in, it was GONE (the torch). She contacted a GM and the first one says that she will not get a walk through on a quest, so she can figure out what to do on her own. So, she contacts again, explaining that she doesn't want a walk through, just her item back. Second GM states she has to do "this, that, and the other" thing and go from there. She does so...no torch. Contacts AGAIN, and again gets the "do this...." type of thing....
Everytime she contacts a GM (3 times) she states that she DOES NOT want a walk through for the quest, just the item that she DID have, that disappeared once she logged off. The first guy was rather rude...and she even considered quitting the game alltogether (except that she has a lvl 37 Hunter, and her sis on the game) She enjoys it, just not enough to deal with a GM treating her like she's some idiot who can't do her own quests.
Anyone have any ideas? She's gonna contact again this evening, and attatch the previous emails from the GM....all she wants is her torch, so she can finish her shammy quest.

I haven't done the quests before, but some quest items have timers or something on them. If it expires, sometimes you can get another one from the person who originally gave the quest. Otherwise, drop the quest and try to get it again - that usually helps to retrieve any quest items that might have been lost.

There are many quests where the items are on a timer and will vanish if the player logs out. In many cases, if you return to the questgiver that gave it to you, he'll give you another. If he doesn't, then all you need to do is drop the quest and go get it from them again.

I did that quest on my wee shammy. The torch has a timer on it, so if she logged without doing the quest, the torch will disappear.

Have her abandon the quest and talk to the fire elemental questgiver again to reacquire the quest, and she'll get another torch.

I'll tell her...but I seem to remember her saying that she did try to drop the quest and reget it, but it didn't work....Apparently someone posted to forums about the same problem some time before...hmmmm, I'll tell her and have her try again, and let you wonderful ladies know.
Thanks!

I had a similar experience with some GMs a couple of weeks ago. I spent probably 2 hours doing a bunch of quests in Stromgarde with my level 38 warlock. I think I completed 4 quests altogether, and since I did all but one by myself, it took forever and was a huge pain in the ass. I got disconnected while walking to Refuge Point to turn the quests in, and when I logged back in 5 minutes later, all of my quest items were gone from my inventory, even though my log said the quests were completed. I talked to two GMs; one accused me of lying and seemed to think I had sent in my ticket to get the quest items without doing the quest, and the other one gave me the same spiel about not being able to give quest walk-throughs. It was really frustrating.

If its a draenei shaman, I know the fire totem quest has been a little buggy. Instead of asking for the item, tell them the quest errored and ask the GM to reset it? It took them about two days to finally listen to a friend who had the same issue.
