What would you do, honestly...
Ok, so me and my RL sister are questing in Bloodmyst area with our Dranaei characters. She's pretty young for the quests we are doing as they are red to her but as I'm a warrior we aren't having any trouble.

We are doing the murloc quest from the gnome in the turtle and occasionally heading to the named bear spot to see if he's up. We see a hunter there and we let her wait and we finish our murloc quests.

We decide we'll go try to get the named bear while we are over here. We head over and see that the hunter is there. I whisper her and ask "Are you after 'named bear'? Would you like to group up?"

Her/His response: "Why?? I can take him."

This is when my head hit the desk. I was certain that we could all take the bear but I was offering the group so we aren't competeing for a kill. This saves times and stress for all.

Before I can explain this...the 'named bear' pops right on my sister. Being that she's pretty low level and mage/cloth wearer her health is dropping in chunks. I wait as long as I could so the hunter could tag it but she was just over there dancing *headdesk*

So to prevent my sister's in game death I pop defensive stance and we kill it. The hunter finally trys to get it after its half way down but over course we've already got it.

My sister and I are feeling blah about this whole situation when I get a tell. "after I've waited all this time. you go in and steal the kill. thanks" I reply back and get "You are being ignored."

I get my sister to try to explain the situation and she ends up not being believed and ignored too.

I mean honestly, what would you have done? I, of course regret that I wasn't able to /invite again once we got aggro but I'm terrible at button smashing on a new character...

Try not to feel too bad. You invited the person, they declined. The mob was then free game, and if they're going to flip out about losing it, well, they'll either continue to get their kills swiped or they will learn to play well with others. (WoW being a "multiplayer" game for a reason.)

You gave her a chance. You can't help that the other person was stupid. Be happy you have a moron on ignore.

Same thing happened to a friend and I in the belf starting area the day after expansion. A group of people were standing around waiting to kill Thaelis the Hungerer, I invited to party, they declined.

Then I get /spit on for "stealing the kill" when I SW:Ped it when he popped. If they'd wanted to have been cool, they'd have partied with me.

You've done your part to help keep the moron population of Bloodmyst low, so you should feel good about it. Some people just don't know how to play nice with others, it's a little depressing.

Honestly, it's the snotty Hunter's own fault. >.> First off, they wouldn't accept a group invite so you coudl all do it again. And then they didn't even try to immediately grab aggro. As a Hunter, they would have had the easiest time tagging that thing immediately, so to me this is definitely a "cry more" situation.

She's a hunter. At that level, she'll have arcane shot and good range. I have a 60 hunter, and I've used her to farm in over-farmed areas. It's very, very easy to get first-tag when you're a hunter.

While it's rare for me to say it, I would have said, "Learn to play your class. Hunters should have no difficulty tagging mobs quickly." That would have been very, very quickly followed by an ignore.

Hell, I would have taken her refusal to group as a challenge to see who could tag it first. But, hey, that's just me.

like others said- nothing to worry about. You tried to invite, and the hunter was obviously not even paying attention when it spawned.
It's not like you killed the last bear ever.

Buh, they were sitting around wasting time, and also declined your invite... there is no accounting for, just, GAH. I hate people. Anyway, forget about it. Even if it HAD been on purpose that your sister got aggro, you STILL shouldn't worry about it. As a hunter, the other player could have tagged it first if they weren't dicking around.

Also, as a side-note, I reeeeeaaallly hate it when people assume that you want to group because you "can't handle something." No, really, I just don't want to wait around for a respawn, you brain-dead fuckwit. And this is something I've dealt with many times before. I remember my first undead character, and waiting stealthed in the tent for that one scarlet crusade guy to spawn. Seeing that there was another rogue in the tent, also stealthed, I asked in /say if she wanted to group with me. I get two or three people outside the tent berating me. "LOLZ theirs no point gruping this low!!! n00b!" Fortunately she wasn't a complete moron, we grouped, and killed him before the rest of those noobs had a chance =P

LOL @ the rogue story!

Ya, we had issues with people kill-stealing in the blood elf starting area the day or two after expansion. We had that Thaelis the Hungerer quest, and there were like 2 dozen people up top, killing him and stealing kills off others. Finally my friend and I (we were grouped) started inviting 3 others at random. We snagged the kill, all 5 of us completed the quest, and went off on our merry ways. When it's something like that, it's best to group if you can so you're not waiting on respawns. If someone's acting like a dick though, like that hunter had, I wouldn't bother grouping with them. I would take my kill and move on.

I had the best experience with kill-stealing in the Belf area. I'm running around soloing in Eversong Woods, and there's some obnoxious Pally basically shit-stirring in General. People ignore him, go about their business, all is well. I go to the quest area next to the water (Sunsail something, I think?) and get that quest to kill the named mob at the top of the building. At this point it's early in the morning and I'm the only person anywhere around, so I start patiently clearing my way up to this guy. Finally get to the top, about to pull the boss dude when this Pally comes out of nowhere, zooms past me, and careens right into the boss and his two bodyguards-- just as my arrow goes off. Well shit, now he's grey! So okay, I move back to wait for the guy to respawn when I see movement outside the door. Up comes the boss, red and at about 1/4 health and his two bodyguards at full health. I waste the lot, and step over the corpse of the stupid Pally on the way back down-- and wouldn't you know it? Same Pally who was trolling general chat. Moral: Don't kill steal if you don't have the HP/level/skills to tank it!

*laughs* Ya that's when I sit and laugh at the people. I've sat back and watched people die when they attempt to kill-steal my mobs, or if they talk trash to me and then try to show off. It's always good for a laugh.

You can accomodate ALL slow, noobish, ignorant kids out there. No offense to them; the person you describe is just incredibly new to the game AND, from the sound of it, full of pre-teen hormones. Not a good combination. What can you do? Nothing; just let them grow up in-game and irl.

I don't think you did anything wrong. You asked the person to join, who declined. You waited while your sister was having her behind munched by the bear while the stupid hunter danced, so tough for her. Her loss.

I had something similar happen to a friend and I in the elf lands. We were doing a quest, killed some guy for the hammer (sorry names escape me right now) and all I see is a "wtf" on the screen. I had no idea anyone was going after the guy, nor did anyone comment to me about it or even tell me what the wtf was for heh.

Yeah, had a similar identical situation to this happen to me today. Asked a mage to join for an elite mob, he refused and tried to solo it. Naturally he got creamed, and then whined at me for not healing him for a while. Not giving you a hand if you want to be a dick and not group.

Seems to me you went out of your way to be fair and accomodating. Some people just don't get it.

It's really too bad that there are those types. My Dranei is only 17 but from the minute I got to Azure Watch there have been no end to people happily grouping up to take on named creatures not because they couldn't handle it but for the expediency of sharing.

But there's always someone who wants to ruin recess for the whole class.

QQ is "cry more"

And as being the little sister who's little mage butt was getting munched, I think we did all we could. I even tried for a lovely little bit of logic and reasonable language, but apparently when you are well-spoken you are not to be trusted...oh well too bad for her, she is now on our guild's don't group with list.

It's like two crying eyes and when said to person you are trying to offend it kinda means "cry more."

Example-

Rogue: ZOEMAHGUD liek i can't kill a bear drood in 5 seconds. OP NERF!

Druid: Druids are fine, l2p, QQ.

/sigh
I wouldn't put too much stock in it. You offered to /invite, so already you had taken the higher path and were willing to share with an extra person. Haven't anything like this happen to me in a while.

People are just stupid sometimes. I once had someone tell me if I gave him 2 gold he'd let me join his guild.
He was LEVEL TEN!
Yes, I had more then enough, but I worked hard for that gold. Why would I want to join some crappy ass lvl 10s guild when I just left a stupid guild. [The guild I was in previously didn't care about anything, but accumulating as many mebers as possible. The GM had some sort of macro/mod that could invite TONS of people all at the same time, over and over again. (We had a few people join, curse out the guild the /gquit. Can't say I didn't blame them.)]

I'm not saying a lvl 10 couldn't run a guild, but how good could the guild be if they were targeting higher levels and begging for gold in the process. I have no problem donating to and helping out my guild, but don't expect me to do it.

He got upset at me for responding with LMAO. His response "Well FINE"
/eyeroll
I politely told him, Only an idiot would pay to get into a guild. Bc trust me, there are "free" gulds out there.
(I realise there may be some more advanced guilds MAY require dues or something, but they also don't target people under 50-55 and certainly don't send a lvl 10 out begging.)

Just because someone plays WoW doesn't mean they are necessarily an intelligent human being. Seriously. -_-

PS-she was a HUNTER for god's sake! The kill thieves of the known universe! If she couldn't take the kill away from you then she didn't deserve it. ; )
