BlizzCon

Hey, I've been kinda lurking on this community for a while, so Yo. But anyway, I know it just got announced but anyone thinking or for sure going to BlizzCon 08? I'm for sure going, as well as people from my usual Heroics running group (minus one as she lives outside the US). I'm very excited. I missed out last year because of going to 4 anime cons > BlizzCon. I'll be cosplaying my Healadin too.

:( just one of those days

So we've been 4/5, 5/9 for about a month now, and expanding our raid schedule to 3 nights a week in about a month so that we have more time for progression over the summer. We can get through Azgalor and Teron in one night (8 bosses in just about 4 hours), but then spend over an hour on Gurtogg the next night, with only about 2 hours for new boss work. Today was our second real look at Archimonde, and our best we really got was to 75%. So...

What strat seems to work best for your raid on Archimonde? We've tried the 4 corners, and tanking him against the mountain, and either way wasn't so good. We have 3 mages and 3 healie druids, so decursing hasn't been a problem so much, but we unfortunately only run with a max of 3 shammies, usually only 2, for tremor totems. The biggest thing that seems to be the problem is getting people to run directly in the opposite direction when the doomfires come... we've gotten quite a lot of fire-pretzels, and those seem to get us.

Anyway, on top of that, people have been saying that moving to Reliquary of Souls next might be better for our raid. We've always been slightly better at 'execution' than 'moving around', as silly as that may seem (learning to kite Thaladred took us longer than all the rest of Kael's phases combined, it seems, and so far the Air Bursts on Archi haven't been too bad at all), and Reliquary looks very technical, but our raid has never had trouble with technical elements. I've heard of guilds doing Reliquary and Mother Shahraz (we do have all the SR gear ready) before Archimonde, so I wouldn't be opposed to looking at them for a while and then coming back to Archimonde when the raid's confidence is back up.

Thoughts about doing Reliquary before Archimonde?

How do you use gold?

I was just thinking about WoW budgets.  Yeah, realms are down, I have nothing to do, so I think about my WoW budget. lol  You see, I'm a fairly new 70, only about a month now.

My first high-gold goal was to create my full spellfire set.  I made most of the cloth myself but got impatient and ended up probably buying about 900g worth of the cloth for it.  I had my set, but was broke.

Then came THE BIG ONE.  The epic flying mount.  I've been working on that for a good two, two and a half weeks and just got it yesterday. w00t w00t.  . . . and was broke again.

My friend quit playing today and sent me 1500g.  (Does anyone else get really sad and depressed when people quit? I can't explain it . . .)  What did I do with it?  Well, since I just so happened to hit exalted with Cenarion Expedition an hour before I decided I didn't want to have a plain ole' Windrider and splurged on the Cenarion War Hippogryph.

My next goldsink?  I MUST have that Shattered Sun title! :D

So, do you spend gold as soon as you get it, hoard it for a rainy day/WotLK release day,  or some other "budgeting plan?"

Also, what about items?  I consider myself "broke" even though I have about 4k gold worth of nethers, large prismatics, etc. on my bank alt.  I just can't part with my harder-to-get items!

Dailies: Waste of time or your main money maker?

Sorry for two posts in a row but some responses on that last post got me thinking.  (Last one tonight . . . maybe. :P)

Do you make sure you get in all your dailies whenever possible for money?

I know people who do their dailies religiously, they do them every day and you'd better not try to pull them away from them.
On the other hand I know people who scoff at dailies saying they're a waste of time.

I used to be in the first set, I did all my Isle of QD dailies, the cooking, Throne of KJ, and the other SSO ones (Phase Survey, Mana Cells, Attack Plans.)  Once I hit exalted with SSO though it seemed to be an inefficient use of my time.  Now I do all the ones that will net me the SSO supply packs (Yay free de-ables and badges.) and of course I do my daily heroic but beyond that it seems like a waste of time.  I can spend 2 hours doing dailies and net ~200g or spend half that time farming air in SMV or Netherweb Spider Silk in Terokkar for 20 min and get the same amount of money with a lot less travel and effort.

So, what side of the fence are you on?

I tamed Shy on first try last night. I used that sticky glue and freeze trap.

Thank you for the advice. Now she is my Serenity named after Princess Serenity.

Oh when I logged on someone sent me 10 gold out of the blue. I mailed them back. I hope they got my thank you letter. I don't know who it was but their ingame name started with a F. I should have written down. It could be someone on here.

Holy Priest PvP

Once again I find myself here looking for some advice...

I'm starting to get a little bored with my priest since I haven't had time lately to raid thanks to school, work and life in general so I've decided to give PvP a shot. I flew around last night night picking up the pieces for the beginner's PvP set and got everything enchanted/gemmed without spending too much (since I hear that I'll replace this set quickly). Then I went into EotS (it popped up first!) and pretty much followed around the biggest groups healing when I could, psychic screaming when I got attacked and trying to keep my bubble up. I died a lot, but I'm used to that, but I also managed to top the healing meter in one BG and came in second (behind a horde) in another. Now, it's totally possible that that has nothing to do with me and everything to do with other people's lack of healing... but who knows.

I guess I'm just looking for some general suggestions for someone that's a huge noob at PvP. Gear? Stats to look for? Spells and tricks to remember? Anything....

Oh, armory is here! Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer...

x-posted to worldofwarcraft

*Edited to add: I think I could've been a little clearer... I want to stay spec'd holy since I'll be raiding again soon. PvP is more of a side-venture than one I want to completely build my spec around. Thanks for all the tips so far though-- very, very useful!

SQUEE!!

Yesterday was an amazing day!!!  Ok little bit of a back story here.  I have played three different mages over the past three years (Undead, Human, now Blood Elf).  I played the Undead through Naxx, Human through MC when my fiancé and I rerolled, and now the Blood Elf through BT.  On all three I have grinded the living heck out of the fish boss in ZG for the stupid turtle...and it FINALLY dropped for my BE yesterday!  I think I broke my fiancé's ears when it dropped.  This was about...an hour or so before raid time before this happened.

Raid time comes around, only bosses we have left to kill for the week are Illypoo and Archi.  We had only killed Illidan once before, and I had not been present for the kill due to work.  We wiped once last night due to one of our offtanks (My RL friend) standing in the eyebeam (DOH)...and then proceed to kick the everloving crap out of him!  Second kill...we get a MH Warglave, a Skull(Got one first kill also!!) and double vanquisher!  I got shiny new robes last night too!  3 piece T6 woot!  Now just to pray for shoulders.  It's unfortunetly an ongoing joke within our guild that caster loot NEVER drops...which it doesn't.  So two skulls is more than enough for us to stop bitching at least for a little bit.

We've also been killing Archi for a long while...just last night got our first ToC!!  Went to our DKP hording locks, however they deserve it since they have the luck to be on the same T6 token as Pallies and Priests.

I was in such an amazing mood that I didn't care that I died almost every pull when we were learning Sunwell trash since we had extra time after those two died.  It gave me an excuse to use my new turtle!  On a sidenote, do any of you know the mechanics behind those stupid robots.  We were piling up for that stupid electrical charge, however EVERY pull of those robots I seemed to get hit with multiple chains, and splatted.  I was seriously debating putting on my PVP gear just so I wouldn't die every pull.  Also had a few deaths unrelated to robots, however those were my fault...stuck in tells after I would sheep so the stupid kill target would whirlwind me before I moved away...etc....

    Either way...SQUEE!

Classes and Professions

Right now my Alt 48 Warlock is a herb/alch, and i'm debating changing her to herb/JCing, and i'm not sure what to do.... soooooo

In YOUR opinion, give me a list of what professions go with what classes the best. And why do you think so?

For example..

Mage - Tailoring/Enchanting
Paladin - Mining/JCing

etc.

I've always wondered what people thought about that, and would like some insight as I can't decide what professions to give to my alts :-(

Are you a raider?

I mentioned some of the instances I hit with my toons and they said they didn't know why I don't consider myself a raider. I still don't, I'm a casual player that happens to be on for about 5hrs...every single night. Yeah....

Anyway how many of you consider yourselves raiders and if so...what does that actually mean? I know that someone who is say 5/5 4/6 or whatever..yeah that's obviously a raider but when do you start getting to say that? Am I 11/11 and 6/6 for kz and za? :) I'm just curious...and hate extended maintenance.

Also just a side note remember if you wanna have an alt in blackhand-us-syrens of the horde for a fun little, girls guild, some altitis and getting away from your main look us up. I know a couple of you already have :)

I haven't been playing for that long and my characters are still babies, but I seriously need to say this:

I. HATE. MURLOCS.

Hate, hate, HATE. I hate the way they look, that stupid gurgling sound they make...I hate everything about them!

*deep breath* Thanks for letting me get that out.

So while we're on the subject...what critters in WoW can YOU not stand? Let it out!

Latest patch

So on a whim - I click on my WoW icon, few hours before maintenance is actualy supposed to end  and - bam - new patch starts downloading.  Wheee, I think, maybe now they will fix some bugs and oy, I think, I can see more, newer bugs coming up.

Dowload finishes, I start reading patch notes.

I can see a lot of fixes, some that make me very very happy, like for instance - portal to stonard, instant scare beast, fixed bugs with some of the macros and spells, rogues and warriors no longer kill critters with some of their skills, some improvemsnts to professions like shorter cooldowns and in case of void shatter - no cool down.  Absence of bug fix for that shammy totem that keps killing your own factions characters made me go hmmm.

But this one - this one makes me cry:(

Mages

Polymorph: Mounted creatures will no longer remain mounted while polymorphed.

this has had to be one of the most harmless and funniest bugs in the game - why did they have to fix it???   why???????

I've recently returned to WoW after a pregnancy-induced year of absence. Now that I'm back I'm not entirely sure what to do with myself and thought I might bounce this off you gals for advice.

I play on an RP server and my time is limited due to now having a young child. There are three characters I could focus on:

  1. A rogue, level 64. My favorite to solo with but she was created solely to be a henchman for a plot long done and now has no RP focus.
  2. A holy priest, level 60. Has the most RP ties and our guild is usually a bit short on healers for instances. However, I dread the idea of having to level her up and may not have the necessary time to devote to her RP.
  3. A  warrior, level 16. A brand new start and a bunch of fun so far, but the chances of ever being able to instance with my guild again are slim to none since she'll be leveling very slowly. Also, I'd like to have at least one 70 so I can experience WotLK when it comes out.
What are your thoughts? I honestly have no idea what to do, but I'll need to focus on one or I'll be going nowhere with all three.

Can you install WoW on an external harddrive?

My computer is old. At least 5 years old...and it sports a 30G harddrive. As you can guess, WoW takes up most of it.

I keep programs to a minimum. All my music, drawings, screenshots, etc...are stored on my 100G external harddrive. I frequently move my screenshots to my external harddrive. I frequently make sure that every program I have installed is something I use, and uninstall/delete what I don't use. I also defrag my computer.

Yet I have less than 2GB of free space left. This is troubling...as WoW continues to be updated with patches. This last one was 15MB. When I moved from Florida I accidently left all my discs behind for my computer...so I can't completely wipe my computer clean and go from there.

The other solution is to buy a new tower...which I want to do, but I lack the funds to do it.

On my external harddrive I have over 80 gigs free. I would love to use it for WoW, since it has the capabilities to hold it, along with my music and other things. It would easily free up 15G on my normal harddrive.

But how do I go about installing it? Can it even be done?

Thanks in advance.

Grrrrr!

I'm fairly new to endgame.  I've got my spellfire, some epics from heroics, and some 100 badge pants, no greens, +800 damage unbuffed (Fire Mage) with about 25% crit.  I'm not TOO bad.

I want to raid so I joined a raiding guild.  I really like the people in the guild and have found it very fun in gchat and such.  The problem: RAIDS!

When I joined I asked them their raid schedule and told them my days off.  My days off at the time were Thursday and Monday and they said Thursday was usually a big raid day so they'd be able to get me in with at least one a week.  Now my days off are Saturday and Sunday which are even better for the raid schedule they originally told me.

So they got me all excited to raid but not it seems like they NEVER raid when they say they will. It's a West coast sever but they ALL live on the East Coast so I cannot raid on work days since I'm at work till their bed times.   So I turn to the days off, right?  They have NEVER held a raid on one of my days off. Period.  They keep saying "Faid, why don't you ever come to Kara with us?!" . . . because you won't take me?  So this week, due to an injury at work, I have four days off. For the past three days I've been saying "Are we doing Kara on Tuesday? KZ on Tues? Are we?"  To resounding no's, no entries in group calendar, etc. etc.

I log on today to find they're an hour into Kara.

What. The. FRICK.  (Dunno the comm's rules on profanity. :P)

I know it's not that I'm undergeared/a bad player, I've been able to come along for Prince once, and High King in Gruul's another time, both stories in and of themselves.  (We're going to break now Faid but we'll pick it up tomorrow when you're off work.  . . . Next day, "Hi guys I'm off work, let's do this!"  "lulz we cleared it this morning.")   I do well in raids, I don't top the damage but even in 25 mans I'm usually top 3-5 and I am TEH BUFFMASTER!1   (Seriously, four freaking mages and I have to do all the Arcane Brilliance?)

It's really starting to annoy me.  Thoughts?

And BTW: No other guilds on my server raid at the appropriate times for my schedule except maybe the top 2 guilds on the server, which of course wouldn't recruit a Kara-level player. :)

Good Alliance PVE Guilds/Servers for my Situation

So right now I'm in sort of an unusual gaming situation. I'm actually traveling the world (I love it!!) and will be for the next 16 months. As a way to sort of kick back, destress, and pretend I'm in the first world again I occasionally check into a private hotel room with wireless and spend some time playing wow. Yeah, I tried to get away but I guess I'm too addicted if I'll even put up with Guatemalan internet :)

Anyways, obviously this isn't amenable to raiding (nor do I particularly want to raid again.) I'm pretty much just slowly leveling a new character with the hopes of eventually hitting 70 and maybe doing an instance or a BG every once in a while. I'm currently guildless on a server I joined because of a good ingame friend, but he's quitting for AoC and I have no real reason to stick around. I'm not super happy not knowing anyone, so I thought I'd appeal to wow_ladies for help!

I'm looking for a new PVE server/guild that is open to a level 35 GNOME rogue who will be logging in from crazy places like Syria and Cambodia, might go weeks without being able to check in, along with any other quirks that might come along with my position, such as randomly replying in Spanish in guild chat or constantly telling boring travel stories. I'd prefer for it to be a large guild, not just for alts, with experienced characters of all levels. I want to stick with the guild at 70, and to be able to really develop close friendships. Optimally the server won't be terrible for pugs, pug heroics, or BGs. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

**Edited to add that I am a GNOME! Also, PVE.

Alright, well it's been about 3 years now...maybe 4 and the time has come for me to get myself a new computer. I have a few stipulations when it comes to the new comp and as always it seems like finding a comp to fit my specifications is being near impossible to find. So, I turn to you ladies. :) I am hoping maybe some of you know a bit about computers, I am sure many of you know more than me anyway. LOL I've got my eye on two computers. Both are gateway, but I am not really sure if they will do what I want. I need a laptop because I am a college student and the mobility of laptops is just a must. I want the laptop to handle school related things (Not a whole lot of stuff) and be able to perform WoW at a decent rate. The comp I have now rarely ever hits 20 FPS and I am usually at 1-8fps when in a city (let's not talk about Shat). I'd also not like to spend $1000. I'd like to spend as little as possible really. I am on a tight budget. I'll post a link to the two comps I am looking at but if anyone has anything to show me, PLEASE link it. :) I am looking at anything right now that will hopefully fit these criterias.

Decisions, decisions

FIrst of, I would say that while I play a lot - I'm a casual player.  I can also be somewhat antisocial at times - hence mine and my hub's new guild (thank you ladies btw, for helping us set it up) which concists of all our alts and has every class and profession represented (most crafting professions are doubled), so that we could be pretty self-sufficient  (our mains are in a lovely casual guild that might eventual start raiding and at the moment has several members raiding semi-casualy with other guilds.  Herein lay my dillemas.

Just wondering if anybody else is having a problem with their hearthstone/mounts being unusable? I normally have them out on my UI, but they'd vanished from their designated buttons. When I open up my bags and find my hearthstone and mount icon in there, they don't work - hovering my mouse over them just brings up the message 'Retrieving item information' in red font, and right clicking on them does nothing. I tried disabling all my addons - still nothing. I tried throwing my hearthstone away to see if I could pick up a new, working one - I couldn't bring up the option to destroy it.

Anybody else having this problem? :/

Guild Charter - ANOTHER ONE?

Heyyy ladies.XD

I am pretty tired of being asked to join guilds on my lovely Hunter alt, so I was wondering if you lovely ladies would mind filling in the 7-8 slots I need to approve this thing.

I've tried buying signatures, but it can be quite tough.

The guild is called Yamayurikai, and it's just a personal guild(aka just for little Sachiko, unless people wanna stay) for my hunter alt, Sachiko. I am such a Marimite nerd.

Anyways, this is on US-Farstriders(it's RP, so either faction). Perhaps the orc starting area would be good? Let me know. I really would be appreciative!

EDIT: Currently in the bonfire of the Orc/Troll starting area. 1 more sig.

Got them all! Thanks!!!

Building a WoW Rig

I dug a bit in the technical tags and could not find what I was I was looking for, so I apologize in advance if I missed it and this is a repeat.

I am looking into building a new gaming rig specifically for wow and multi tasking. But after doing some research I suddenly feel OLD OLD OLD :P Things have changed so much since I built my last rig 5 years ago. After attempting to research over the last few days I just find myself more confused than ever as to what the best build is going to be for the high end of a midrange budget.

I was hoping some of our more Tech savvy girls could point me in the right direction to building my new WoW machine. I am looking for something that I can use stock and that can be fairly easily upgradeable as needed over the next 4 to 5 years. I don't want to have to mess around with the hassles of overclocking. Since I am going to have to buy my parts piece by piece over the next couple of months I am going to figure my budget out around $2000 to $2500. (Hopefully its sooner my poor little pc cant handle raiding any more and I miss it!)

Thanks in advance for any advice or linkage you can provide :)

ding 3rd 70 /squee post

My Rogue Midgitsu (Gnome, respectively) dinged 70 today!  She was my first ever character and my 3rd 70 so I'm very excited she dinged. I've started Pvping to get her some new threads and it's really fun.  I respecced Shadowstep and bought some lame Maces and Fist Weapons in the Ah and bought the PVP honored gear that I could.

Yesterday pre ding I was pvping with my bf 70 rogue, and some of our friends 70 mage, 70 hunter and 64 rogue (I was 69 at the time)  It was a lot of fun.  I often found myself with the mage, I'd keep a target stun locked while he dpsed them.  I saved him a couple times too it was cool to hear him over vent say "Yeah uh you're girl just saved me from dying"  I think with better gear and more experience I can be a pretty darn good rogue,

Warlock Rant

Just a mild annoyance... How can someone all them self the warlock officer/class leader in a raid progressive guild if they:

- DON'T care about curses or set them up... Rather they say, "I don't care, I don't do curses."

- DON'T summon, banish, fear, give out healthstones, pets, or SSes on anyone in the raid - save for them self... She even announced this in vent last night!

- DOESN'T help other locks with specs and specifics - so now 4/5 locks are specced 2/2 imp healthstone, leaving one healthstone per raid amongst them (aside from me, who is 1/2 specced)

- Constantly yell in vent because, holy crap, she's the Leo tank in SSC and there were LOS issues that were beyond the raid's control!

- Brag and boast about how epic they are as a raider and PvPer when they hardly attend raids, don't care about the mini-management of raids and are only running with a 1600 arena rating team. (come back when you're in the 2000+ range)

I seriously don't get it, but I really want this woman to disappear again. She's grinding my last nerve.

price check?

hey ladies,

A few months back i was blessed with a drop of [Formula:Enchant Boots - Cats' Swiftness]. After debating on selling or saving I've decided to sell seeing as Im very close to getting my epic mount. Only problem being I'm nor quite sure how much to sell it for. I figured it was a couple hundred gold, but when I asked in trade(have never seen it on the ah) I got a couple of whispers saying it was worth 2k gold and one whisper begging me to sell it to him for 40g.. lol

I don't want to disgustingly overprice it but i would really like to get a good price, so here is where you come in.

I'm on cenarion circle and I was wondering if any of you knew how much it went for on your particular servers.

(edit) thanks for the input its exactly what i was thinking but i needed some reinforcement. I'm gonna put it up for 2000(1700) and see how it goes

(edit2)

sooooo super happy. I put it up for 2000g and it was bought out within a couple of hours ;_; I wasnt expecting that *celebrates*
