Wow_Ladies: Girl Gamers of World of Warcraft

So I have to say I'm not uber tech-savvy when it comes to the parts of my computer. I got a new comp sometime over last summer and I have no true qualms with it over the fact that I know I can make it run better. Run better with WoW specifically, why I come here for info rather than splattering my stupidity on some other forum. :D I've got a Dual Core Processor and Dual Video cards to boot, but I re-looked over my comp and noticed that I only have 1 GB of RAM which seems under a desired amount for the system''s other specs. Isn't 2GBs of RAM preferable just to make TBC look prettiful and less-laggy? I actually have 4 RAM slots with two being used by two 512 MB Corsair sticks. I do think that brand seems to be the bargin one so I dunno if I want to stick with em for price since I've had no problems or go better....yeah..

Currently I run WoW with some pretty high Video setting but not maxed with a fair share of add-ons and get 60 FPS in not-to-flashy Outland Zones and Azeroth while Shatt cuts me down to 7 FPS on logging into it... I do run Synergy in the background of my comp so I can browse on my other computer with ease, and sometimes Keyclone is up when I feel like trying my hand a Dual-boxing two baby rogues, but neither seems to affect my game play to a noticeable amount.

So why do you ask, don't I just go buy some RAM myself and install it? Well, I'm all antsy about doing that due to watching a friend shove new RAM into his Alienware..to have it never start again.  Should I snag RAM sticks of the same brand but bigger for the next two slots? Get a better brand? Replace the ones I have for better or what?

Our guild went into Gruuls for the first time tonight.  We joined with a 3rd guild to form a full group.

Amazing freakin' night.  I know it's not much in the scope of raids, but for our first 25 man, it feels pretty impressive!

On the side, my little priest alt dinged 60 the other day without even entering the Blasted Lands. Why? In the name of RP, of course! :D I was excited to go through all by myself with Bretzel, but the idea of arrpeeing the big step with a bunch of guildies...? Five BILLION times more awesome. So the lot of them need to hurry up and get that last level to 58 so we can go rock Outland hardcore.

just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who commented on my last post. I felt a lot better about the possible conversation I'd have to have with the new lock, but everything actually fell into place without me doing anything.

last night after our guilds two Kara groups ran, the new lock whispers me and asks could he speak to me on vent about specs and stuff. and here's me, who only really speaks on vent when I have too, freaking out cause it wasn't just HIM in the channel, lol. 
anyways, he said that he was going to be changing to a Demo spec to up his damage and crit and all that and see how it goes, so I took that as my chance to mention if he thought he was having problems with his damage why not up his spell hit a bit, which I had noticed was low on his armory? he said that he knew it was low, and was working on increasing it, but only had it that low because his old guild leader or class leader (can't remember which) had told him as Afflic spec he should be at 6% spell hit and 5/5 Suppression and he'd be fine, so he went from 180 spell hit, to 84. so there was his reasoning for low spell hit :) we then spoke a little more about some other stuff he had on his mind and left it at that. I then left him a post on the guild forums about some stuff that had helped me with my spec/gear/gems etc. so now the rest is up to him :)

I just feel a lot better that he didn't take what I was saying as a personal attack at his character/gear/spec/stats/playstyle. cause it never was supposed to be. I just want everyone to excel at what they do and if I see what they have may not help them, I want them to know in the nicest way possible. I would probably make a bad class leader with this attitude and compassionate nature about the game, lol, but I don't care. I love my guildies and I want them to be happy, and not frustrated that they can't be the best at what they do :)

So I'm about to bare my naked soul here My Lovely Warlock. I'm currently trying to get my Battle Ground gear, very slow going seeing as winning is difficult for the Horde at the moment and Honor points just aren't wracking up as fast as I would like. So is this still a good path to go in the attempt to have decent gear to even enter Kara? I know I am by no means ready to enter today, but am I heading in the right direction?

Also, not sure if my talents are spent as well as they could be. I love my FelGuard, he's awesome, but am I living up to the best I could be? I'm looking for help, constructive criticism, not those out there to poke fun at my shit. I've been playing for a year and a half. I play for fun. I've never been big on running instances until I'm blue in the face, or beating on low lvl allies, not my cup of tea. But I do know that I should know more about my lock than I do. I could be way more powerful than I am. I get my ass kicked in PvP, the thought of doing arena makes me cringe.

So tips on what gear would be good for me? Different way to spend my talents? Better tactics for not being so squishy? :P

Edit: As of now no one has asked me to change spec, I've thought about it, but have no real desire to do so at this time. Thinking more and more about just making the FSW set, seeing as I am a tailor, pushing 375. :)

I don't get to play very often so I am surprised my NE druid Selorine (bouncing around ghostlands if you want to say hello) finally made it to 20 a few days ago.


It was really exciting, too, because in that day not only did I ding 20 but I also got my water-form AND my cat-form within 10 minutes of each other.

Also, this has probably happened to all of us at some point but my story has a funny ending.

Myself and 4 other people needed to smack Murkdeep around to finish a quest. We decided to group up and take turns killing the creature. Well, taking turns was not at all in this one jerks vocabulary. He also had a grudge against the last member in our group that needed to kill good ol' Murky so any time the murloc would appear, Jackass (marked for PVP, this is important) would go in swords a'swingin and kill him before the other kid had a chance to react.

It was pissing all of us off. One of our group members logged off and as we're all waiting for the murlocs to respawn and murkdeep to appear, a level 52 blood elf hunter comes sauntering up and stands there, watching us. The group whispers back and forth, wondering who he is, whats going on. Murlocs appear, there's fighting fighting fighting and we notice that, just before Jackass notices Murkdeep has appeared, Level 52 BE sends his animal after him and shoots him twice with the arrow. Little Jackass goes down. The minute he does, the entire group goes nuts. Not because the BE just picked him off. No. It was because now the poor kid that kept getting his kill taken away now had the opportunity to get murkdeep. We all stood there cheering him on and applauding, killing off murlocs that bothered us.

By the time Jackass wanders back, we're walking away. The BE logs, the group member that logged earlier comes back, and says to the Jackass. "Serves you right for being such a dick to the last person that needed murkeep. How'd you like my BE's pet?"


It was...beautiful.


Also, if I were to say I want to make a guild entirely of toons named after characters from 80's fantasy movies, who would join (when I have the money) and what should I call it?

i vaguely recall seeing a few posts in the past about people who had participated in and/or run in-game scavenger hunt events for their guild. any of you have links to item/rule lists or suggestions on how to run something like this? my guild is turning 3 years old in may, and i'd love to do something special for my awesome guildies. :D

Man, if there's one thing that sucks about spring break (aside from all the snow!), it's having to deal with Tuesday downtime. I fixed up some screenshots early this afternoon, because aparently posting screenshots is what all the cool wow_ladies do.

My guild has recently started working on Kael'Thas. So far I can say...we are getting to be flawless at phase 1. (Yes, you may LoL all you wish, Capernian was giving us fits because apparently "Stay the you-know-what away" is difficult to comprehend.) Anyway, we've moved past that to the weapons and it just doesn't seem we are doing well here. What is the best method for tackling them, from you ladies who have actually done it?

I usually end up tanking the axe away from the main raid, over near the hunter who is tanking the bow (but not too close!). The rest of the weapons are gathered up and AE'd while ranged/melee focus one. This seems to work great...if we had about another 30 seconds before the advisors come back. We still have the bow, axe, and shield left when they jump back up. But we've tried single target, and that didn't seem to work any better?

Any my personal QQ, since I have a cleaving/flurrying weapon that is fated to be one of the last to die pasted to my furry butt, I can't loot a staff :\ WANT STAFF.

Is anyone else suffering major lag spikes and inability to loot on their servers? I've been lagged out twice (and it's not my pc, I checked). It's a little irritating.

Thanks to your support and suggestions, when you last left me, my druid was at 645 bonus healing, unattuned and struggling with Black Morass. In about a month, I've got her to 1145 bonus healing, and ready for Kara. THANK YOU!!!!

Today, I'm asking for some help for my hubby's mage. Actually it's our daughter's character that he's helped her to grind up to 70 and work on the gear (this is important for the name... :: laughs ::). He runs heroics like no tomorrow, but has struggled in a few groups because his gear isn't..."good enough" and he's feeling concerned about it.

We did some google searches for gear upgrades to get him Kara ready, but I'd like your thoughts as well:

Ignore the arena ratings, we tried them out, but we didn't manage so well. We're just not PvP types. He's not interested in battleground gear. (our daughter did BGs for a while to help him earn points for gear, but she's been focused on Webkinz as of late).

We finally did it. Oh.My.God we finally did it.

As the last blow was dealt and Illidan uttered his famous line "The huntress is nothing without the hunt...", a feeling of accomplishment settled over my raid and silence sat for awhile...

Before erupting into utter chaos over /gchat, /1 General chat, over voice chat.. Hahahaha pandemonium ensued!

I meant to post a screenshot of the kill, but my guild's main healer posted up such an awesome post not only dedicated to the guild but all the steps that has brought us this far, I shan't dilute it.

In other news, I finally gained possession of my very own Swift Spectral Tiger on Sunday!



I was overwhelmed with utter happiness when I finally got to buy it from the shady dealer in Booty Bay.

2 main reasons why this mount is of utmost significance to me.

1) I'm Horde. I've always been utterly jealous of human warlocks (gnomes look ridiculous on anything!) who get to ride on those utterly sexy nightsabers / wintersabers.

2) Have you seen the silly mounts we get as Horde? The wolfs have ridiculously skinny legs, kodos are plain dumb, and riding your own faction mount is so passe. :P While I do have the Swift Orange Raptor, every other goon with a bit of time has got the pvp mounts. Standing out in Orgrimmar is so hard these days... :P Anyway, cross-faction mounts are the coolest!

For those of you who are still wondering what I'm rambling on about, here's a shot provided by Blizz on the tiger.



I will post up my screenshot at a later time, when I finally complete my tier 6 look. (Have got 2/5 as of now).

So with Illidan down and my very own Mao Mao (that's what I'm calling it), I do finally feel that I have "beaten" WoW in a way.

Which led me to crack "Nightmare Mode Unlocked" jokes in guild chat for the rest of the night hahahaha.

After searching Google and failing and then the community and only finding posts which ask for what I search, but finding no solution, I ask once again - maybe somebody found a page like I search in the meantime.

I want a possibility to compare different sets of gear when not ingame. My dream would be to be able to choose the pieces, "equip" them and the page tells me e.g. that Equip A lacks +hit and Equip B is low on stamina or something like that.

Does anybody has an idea where I could look?

Are there any good guides (or can any of you offer remarks) for how to effectively set up pet specs for different purposes? I see plenty of guides that talk about -how- to train a pet, or how to obtain different skills from different pets, but that's not helpful.. I'm instead not sure that I have my pet (a cat, though I've been testing out others too of late to avoid the endless parade of dailies and PUGs) specced well. I'm interested to know where a good pet spec differs for the purposes of solo PvE vs. PvP vs. raids, and such, too.

( OMG, he must play in the same BG as me . . . )

So for the past couple of months, I've been having this same problem--After a while of playing (or if my computer has been on for a while before playing) the ground will disappear outdoors and my FPS will nosedive to around 7-1 FPS. If I switch between windowed and maximized mode it will fix it for a short time, but will eventually happen again. If I continue playing with regardless of the ..bug thing..(Usually in instances, or cities, since when I'm indoors, in a city, or in an instance, I can't see the ground, and my FPS is normal. Of course the city rule is with the exception of Shat, since that speeds up the process of making my ground disappear.) it will eventually start flashing black 
with my text layering up and such.

This happens on all chars, all servers.

I've tried defragging my computer, getting rid of some mods, clearing my cache, deleting other programs..what do I do? 

Can any of you ladies help me?
