Me

[info]foxnight in [info]wow_ladies

I am a huntard... But I want to change!

First of all I sincerely apologize to anyone who has run with me and wanted my head on a spike.

Although I have been working furiously to level my Druid to 70 (currently 58)...I still becoming tempted by the "dark side" to play my hunter in the rare event that there is a guild run begging for DPS.

With Macros, my Dps isn't terrible...especially with the use of trinkets and rapid fire.... If there are other CC in the group, I feel that I can pull my own weight in a raid or heroic.

But when it comes to trapping, I am reminded once again why I rerolled a Druid.

When I can get a mob trapped, even if I disengage or feign death, sometimes I still manage to break my own traps.

When I am not breaking my own traps, my traps appear to break on their own before the cool down has expired to place a new one!

I know I am not the only hunter who has traps break...I have seen it happen to some of the best in our guild; this It makes me feel marginally better, but not much.

My question is this: What is the best way to get a mob to stay trapped?

and What is the best way to disengage? So far, the best I can come up with is pulling the mob with silencing shot or arcane shot then turning away from the mob and tab-targeting until the correct target is selected.

Is there a better way? Escape does not seem to work at times...and I fear tab targeting facing multiple mobs since sometimes it appears auto-shot has a life of it's own. Feign death requires timing...and it seems whenever I attempt it, I hit it much too soon

I would love to have any advice one could give. The druid will be my new main in a about 2 weeks, but in the meantime, I still want the ability to help people with runs if they need dps on my 70 without being a detriment to the party or the guild!

(Yes, I will accept any and all advice including: "Stick to your Druid, kiddo")

Open Letter Part the Nth

Dear Persistent Asshat:

When I tell you "no" in response to your saying "open door" while I am standing outside SM Armory, that does not give you the right to:

1) /w me with "f u c k you b i t c h"--nice attempt to get around bad-word filters by the way.

2) Create an alt after I /ignore your main, and proceed to harass me by continuing to create alts and spam me with nastiness.

3) Tell me "I'm leaving to join the Air Force in two weeks, so I don't care if you report me."

4) Start harassing my guildmates, demanding that I be thrown out of the guild for being "a fucking cunt".

And finally, it does not give you the right to send an in-game mail to my guild leader demanding that he throw me out because I "harassed" you.

Well actually, it does give you that right, but it also gives me the right to send chatlogs to my GL (and to your GL) to back myself up--and if your GL ever tells me who you are IRL and where you're stationed, your CO will get a very nice little letter with those same chatlogs and this veteran's daughter will point and laugh as you get Article 15ed. If you wind up getting stationed at Seymour Johnson? I'll just drive the 45 minutes to Goldsboro and deliver them in person.

Not that I'm vindictive or anything.

No love,

Tewl (the shammy that you decided to get assy with)

(for the record, I did report him after he created the fifth alt)

Oh right, I forgot PvP isn't for the experience.

So I know that the Alliance has gotten a reputation for "BG hopping" recently. That is, making a premade group and having one person stay out when you join a BG so they can queue you for something else if the one you enter has a Horde premade as well.

It's kinda lame IMO but I figured it was just a lot of people doing it when they had a really poor premade going and didn't want to get royally owned.

I had no idea that they just did it for the hell of it to avoid a real fight at all, ever.

Enter my guild's (mostly) premade tonight. We get a group of about ten guildmates and five PuG'd people for Eye of the Storm tonight. We do do a little hopping. Skipping well-known PvP master server groups like *shudder* Blackrock. But mostly we do all the BGs regardless of who we're going up again. And let me tell you, we were on a roll—we're not all specced or particularly geared for PvP (we mostly do it for fun and honor, tokens, whatever) but we beat all the BGs we went into tonight including the premades.
WOW why!?

LF Guild? :/

So...I play Horde. Always have. I love my little Undead rogue and healy Troll shaman (both 70s) like woah.

Then, one day, I rolled a Nelf hunter, so I could play without having to talk to anyone in guild and whatnot, and so I had an alt to switch to so I could occasionally say "o hai" to the few Ally friends I'd made with my Horde toons. (Yeah, you read that right.)

Well, I <3 her. Not enough to ditch my Horde toons and hardcore grind her to 70 or anything, but enough to play her in my downtime and casually level her. And enough that I'd like to join a guild and make a few friends. Only level 14 right now, and probably won't be raiding or anything serious with her any time in the near future (if at all), but having some people to hang out with and chat with, and get some help from and whatnot...that would be cool. I am a total noob to Alliance, and I'm sure I'll get lost somewhere, or not know what zones to play in, it's like starting the game all over again practically.

So if you're Kirin Tor Alliance, and you have a guild of cool people who don't mind helping out the total Alliance noob once in a while, let me know. I need some friends. Friends who aren't crazy raiders or crazy pvp'ers, or who won't mind that I'm not exactly either of those. Anyone? :/

[info]copperbird in [info]wow_ladies

Weirdly, one of the raiding guilds on my old server asked if I wanted to come raid with them on my priest. They're working on Archimonde and some boss halfway through the Black Temple, and she's in Kara gear -- so it would involve being spun though all the attunements and being very undergeared and so on. I'm thinking that whirring sound I hear is the hum of desperation (although obv I am a kickass healer etc etc).

It's funny really, I'd like to see the content and I really did love playing my priest but I also love playing my warrior and druid in my casual guild with friends. And I just like horde better than alliance.

So I'm going to try to catch the GM later, wish him the best of luck with recruitment, and turn him down.

What would you do? :) And is it wrong to feel smug that all those guilds that couldn't replace their priests with paladins and shamans fast enough are finding that just maybe they could have used some of those holy priests in later content?

It's time to grow-up, you're not 12 anymore.....

I just thought I'd share/rant a little bit this morning how some people can't take it being wrong in this game. TL;DR so I put a cut in because I sometimes tend to ramble..... )
And just for the hell of it, what do you ladies think about running two accounts at the same time? I asked a bunch of people who were online last night, and they all thought it was ok. What do you think?

One badge?

Let's say you just need one more badge for a particular piece of gear. Assuming you could round up some guildies with interest in getting just one badge, what dungeon has the boss closest to the entrance? Or at least the one that you'd say is the fastest to get to.

After 16 days of /played time, mostly in the last two months, I got my first toon to 70: an undead mage. I spent a good 30 minutes last night flying in circles around Shatt, both not sure what to do now and enjoying the new flying mount. :P The cool thing was that the other mage in the screenshot, Vendnmachine, and I leveled from 52 to 70 together. He dinged just after me turning in a quest as well, adding a 70 mage to his 70 druid and 70 warrior.

ding! )

Please ignore my weird UI. I had to switch to my work laptop to take the screenshot because my desktop's resolution is so huge that it lags horribly every time I try to screenshot something (and I didn't want to miss it!).

Now for the question. :) I'm keyed for Kara already and my guild will take me with my current "newbie 70" gear, but are there any quick upgrades I should be looking at outside of Kara so I don't suck as much as I would in my current gear? ;) I'm already planning on running BM once or twice more tonight to get to revered so I can get the Continuum Blade, but any other guidance would be much appreciated. I'm honored with Thrallmar, Cenarion Expedition and Keepers of Time and working on my Spellfire/Spellstrike sets, but I won't have those for a while.

Thanks! :)

Guild Fun in Crypts

I cannot say this enough. I hate Crypts. Hate, hate, hate, hate. It might be due to the fact that everyone else hates it too, but I found out why when I finally ran it with my Alliance main for the first time. I hated it even more when it was the Heroic Daily. Never. Again.

Me and most of the rest of the guildies, in our Horde guild of alts, were running heroic after heroic to help our druid tank get his tanking badge necklace and to get us badges/gear in general when one of our guildies asked: Anyone for Crypts? )

Fun times. :D

And for the lulz, when my main went to ZA:

I heart tank, shadow gets no love

I tanked Blood Furnace last night with a pug, and we didn't wipe. Okay, okay, I know it's a 61-63 instance and I'm 67, but we had a 64 balance druid (and great guildie/friend), a 61 pally who was REALLY eager to fight things, a 62 shammy who healed the crap out of me, and my 60 shadow priest friend whom I've known since Teldrassil. I think everyone died at least once except for me, which says loads about the awesome healing done on me and the mediocre job I did on keeping them off my healer and everyone else. For a PuG as my first time, which I think was really brave, given we could have had 2 buttholes who used caps and ditched us after the 2nd time they died. Honestly, the pally was a little overeager in rushing in there with me and grabbing aggro, then promptly dying. But I stayed alive, mostly kept the guys off everyone (except for those sprinty demons before the boss -- WTF are they on, Starbucks?) and then I was sort of disappointed at the lame boss that died quickly.
All in all it went well and my guildie O said we had to do it again and again with other instances cause it was so fun and I need the practice, and eventually we'd get up to where the drops are upgrades for me (yay!)

On another note, my spriest friend is just sick of it all with being told she can't heal. I told her to respec holy if she wanted to heal and she would have no problem, but I think she likes shadowform too much. I'm aware she CAN heal. She's awesome at it. But I can also see how a group would pick a hpriest over a spriest. It would be like picking a prot warrior over arms or fury for tanking. Duh. Do other spriests have this same problem? I saw her out of the corner of my eye and on my caster bars shifting out and throwing me some heals once in awhile, which was sort of cute. Is there advice I can give her for getting more groups for healing, and is the healing that much different if you're shadow (besides not being able to heal in shadowform, I know that)... she's getting really discouraged from playing and I try to include her as much as I can but... ugh.

Also... did anyone else's game reset to the install intro? With the little BE/draenei movie, or was that just me? All my video settings were reset, too. WTF??? Although I did lol at the murloc in the trailer amongst the ubercool graphics and stuff... RAWWWWGLURGLURGLUR.

Help me, I am a bad warlock!

Hi!

I'm a diehard warrior. I've tried to play other classes, and managed to play a priest and rogue fairly effectively, but now I am struggling with the warlock.

What stats are important for solo leveling? I am in no rush to reach 70, I am just struggling with the caster mentality. Have any of you made the move from melee class to warlock, and if you did, what's an interesting spec to make the transition a bit smoother? All my reflexes tell me to pin the mob down and keep control (arrgh tank) and I need to learn to let them run around in terror...

Any and all advice welcome. here's the armory for my wee 42 warlock, forgive my lame gear but I am saving to start up the guild bank:

WoW & Knitting

I'm not sure if this is offtopic and does not belong here, but the previous post with the knit murloc reminded me of this. There is a knitting/crocheting website called ravelry (http://www.ravelry.com ) And it is an awesome site, and what's better, is that they have a World of Warcraft Community.

If this isn't allowed, I'll remove it - Just figured some of the crafty wow_ladies might enjoy!

We were given our sign...

Apparently none of us were on our game last night...Tuesday night hubby and I ran a nearly flawless heroic Ramps with his newbie healadin, myself tanking, two guildies, and a PuG mage in greens and blues. Last night, we had hubby's healadin, me, a lock from the previous night, our second best guild lock, and another PuG mage, this time in much more impressive *looking* gear.

We zone in...all of us except the mage. )

Noob Mage

So, as I mentioned in my post the other day about the leveling guide I'm writing, one of the characters I've leveled to 20 for the guide is a Mage. He is the first Mage I've ever gotten past level 12 and I really do feel like a complete noob. I have played WoW since the day it launched and I've gotten seven characters to 60+. I've had many many Mage friends and grouped and raided with Mages hundreds of times, but when it comes to actually playing one, I'm clueless!

My only other DPS caster to level up was a Warlock and I've never been a big fan of playing DPS classes in general, preferring to heal mostly, but also tank some. I can already tell that playing a Mage is very different from playing a Warlock. I can probably hold my own about as well as any other noob Mage at the moment, but I won't be level 20 forever. Once I'm done writing my guide, I intend to actually level this character to 70.

Being a natural theorycrafter, I can't help but already start wondering about spec and stats and other issues I'll run into down the road. For now I plan to level as Frost spec, but I'm curious about other specs as well. And, as for gear, I'm pretty clueless beyond the obvious base stats.

Are there any sites you ladies can recommend where I can find some numbers to start crunching and theorycrafting over? I want to be able to make educated decisions about talents and gear.

Time to Chill

So, our guild has been pushing ZA really hard (we only have about 15 regular raiders).  About half of our guild hates ZA and about half of us love it.  Basically, some of us don't mind wiping seven times while we learn Halazzi (especially since the guild bank pays for repairs), and some of us go on and on about how "ZA doesn't have any loot, doesn't have any badges, I hate this place, blah blah blah."  The grumbly players also have about 10 different alts they want to run through Kara, and fail to realize that the rest of us are bored of running it every night and want some challenging content.  Now, we don't make them come to ZA with us, we're very clear that no one has to do any raid they don't want to do.  I've finally learned to just sit back and ignore the complaints, but one of our GMs is taking it very personally and getting upset.

So, last night, we had a few of our regular raiders out of town.  So, rather than try to PUG the other spots, we decided to have an off night.  So, my husband (Prot Pally) and me (BM Hunter) ran two guildie alts (including our upset GM) and a new guildie through the entire Kara attunement: from the water samples in Deadwind to Slabs to SV to Arc to Durnholde to BM.  It was a long night, but it was awesome.  Things just melted before the DPS power of two hunters and a rogue.  We were being silly and having a blast, yet we only wiped once (b/c we were stupid).  It was so nice to have an off night and just get to screw around.  Plus, we got upgrades for all three new characters, had a ton of Fel Armaments drop in Slabs (like 12), and I still walked away with 3 shards.  It was so nice to have a night where no one was grumbling, there was no repeated wipes, and we were able to help out our guild.  It was great.

In other news, my husband and I have decided to roll Shaman Draenai alts.  Can't decide if this is foolhardy or brilliant, but there will be totems galore, festive dancing, and potential future heals all around!  Plus, I decided this time to not do the smart professions, but go for a fun one with engineering.  Probably won't make me any money, but I'll be stylin' in some goggles and my pollution-fueled flying machine!

Druid question!

I rolled a druid yesterday; she is now at level 7 which would make her my highest-level druid so far. She was rolled as part of a personal project of mine to expand my horizons and try playing new classes and I'd like to make her a sort of casual alt and see how far I can get with her.

In a couple levels I'll get to start using my talent points, and that's where my question comes into play. I really want to play my druid as balance because melee (i.e., feral) never really appealed to me, I've always liked casters and ranged classes. (Plus I have this thing for Moonkin. XD) But I've had a few people now tell me that I should level as feral and then respec to balance later, because the gear for balance is just not available at the lower levels.

So I guess my question is... is it really that difficult to level as balance? Would I really be a lot better off leveling as feral? And while I'm at it... any other advice or talent recommendations for a newb druid? I really have no idea what I'm doing because I've never played a druid before (or any class but hunter really, because I'm an obsessed dorkface like that, but I digress.)

Any advice would be very appreciated! ^^

WoW LIfe for me

I dinged 69 last night and went on a SLabs run - actually, in the other order. So I have my first Kara key fragment. Whee! The slabs run stank for me, actually. I spent a lot of time dead and I need to do more damage (spriest). I was with friends who made nice but I didn't feel good about my contribution at all.

My 9 yo daughter was very excited to tell me that she made a new friend at the YMCA (after school care) and he plays WoW. She has a level 16 warlock and mostly likes to fish and fly around on the zep but she was very enthused to have met this boy because they have so much to talk about.

So, another poll..

Hey, I like polls, what can I say ;)

My latest wondering is about what classes people choose to play. It was almost an "what classes have you got to 70" question; but not everyone has been playing long enough, and other people just aren't that bothered about leveling a character to cap. So it's a question about the characters you spend (or have spent) most of your time on.

For example, I have alts of every class - but I won't be ticking all the boxes - just the ones that I think I have invested most time in compared to the others.

finding/joining a guild

I have a question regarding guilds.

Right now I'm a level 14 dwarf hunter. My husband is in a guild with a lot of other people and he keeps asking me to join, but they are all 65-70. I don't think I could do anything worth joining the guild for. Plus I don't want to be the only noob. I only started playing like two weeks ago, they've all been playing for over a year.

I'd like to join a guild that has lower level players who I could work up to being a high level with, but I am clueless about how to find a guild.

Any advice?
