This past weekend :)

I met my old guild Unknown Entities from the Crushridge server.  :D  I was in LA for a work-related conference, so I had the chance to go to their Halloween party!  My non-friends-locked post is here, if anyone is interested to see.  A couple of the guys were GMs before, which is pretty neat.  Well anyway, I made this on the plane ride to Cali :D

My love for my yeti is intense <3 hahaha.

Tiny Sporebat

So, I wandered onto the PTR tonight because I just wanted to see a few things like the food recipes and play around in the dresser room and with rating buster and the new pieces of equipment...

But right before I logged off I remembered, "Oh yeah, they added that pet to Spores." And since I'm exalted with them I decided to give it a looksee.

Now, I don't carry ANY non combat pets on me... it's not a very in character thing and I'm lousy at remembering to use them / call them but... I think this little fellow may change that.

Screenshot! Because the only one I've seen thus far wasn't that good! )

PS. He's extremely shy for some reason or another, likes to hide under boots and large pointy swords... Was a bit of a trick getting a good screenie of him.

women & raiding

[edit: i'm putting this at the top in the hopes that it will be noticed -- i am not posting this because i agree with the post. i'm posting it here because this is a community of ladies that play and genuinely wanted to know what you think. please feel free to be honest and don't confuse me with the original writer of this article or his views! --also, i left the named parts of his journal entry in because i don't feel like it's my business to chop anyone else's words. as i felt that there was no real particular reason to read it, i recommended skipping it. <3]

one of my old guild leaders has a journal in which he posted an entry titled, "The Right Stuff (Women & Raiding)". i asked him for permission to link to it here, which he granted. i thought some of you might be interested in reading it and have a few comments of your own. so here is a link to the journal post:
http://www.tankspot.com/forums/ciderhelm/32240-right-stuff-women-raiding.html

and i'll post the entry itself under a cut if you'd rather just read it here:
The Right Stuff (Women & Raiding) )

...it's pretty long. i will completely understand people not wanting to read all that! i'd recommend skipping all of the people he names specifically as most of you have probably never heard of them anyway. it cuts down the size of the post significantly. i'd really be interested in what you ladies think, though!

Operation: Holiday Cards

Operation Holiday Card
While this isn't exactly WoW related, I'm sure we all know or know of someone that plays WoW that's deployed overseas - there's at least 5 that I know of it my guild, my husband is one of them. One of the women in my LJ community militarysignifs has put this together, and I thought I'd share....

"Dear Friends,

Believe it or not the Holiday season is upon us. With Halloween over the stores are filled with Christmas decorations. Last year with my husband deployed in Kuwait I started Operation Holiday Card to collect Christmas, Hanukkah, and holiday cards for troops overseas during this season. It was huge success last year. I started the project with a goal of collecting 200 cards to send to one base in Kuwait. The response was amazing. When the collection was over I had over 1500 cards sent to Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and Balad Air Base in Baghdad, Iraq. The cards were passed out to the troops at dinner on Christmas Day. As each person signed in at the mess hall they were handed a Holiday card. The cards were read, passed around the tables among friends, and many were eventually hung on the wall for all to see.

It is time once again to start collecting cards. My goal is to collect over 2000 cards. This year many of the cards will go to the Balad Air Base in Baghdad. Balad is “home” to over 30,000 men and women from all branches of service. Balad also contains a large field hospital so many of the cards will go to the patients and staff. The holidays is a very hard time to be so far away from home and these brave men and women need our support and encouragement.

I am asking people to write a note to an unknown service member inside your card, seal it, and send it to the address below. Cards can be for Christmas, Hanukkah (please write this on the back of your envelope), or general Season’s Greetings. Your words of support mean so much to these men and women. Remember each card you send is another service member touched.

Please pass the word about this project to everyone you know. Feel free to post it in your journals, other communities, promote it in your workplace, or your place of worship. One woman from my church last year collected 200 cards in her workplace. How many cards can you collect? Cards can be sent to:

Operation Holiday Card
PMB 283
6658 Youree Dr Suite 180
Shreveport, LA 71105

This year’s deadline will be Dec. 5, all cards must be received in Louisiana by that time. The cards will need plenty of time to get overseas. I thank you for your support of this wonderful project. There is so much support for our troops as they spend the holidays away from their families.

Thank you and God Bless you"

There's no, if you don't do this you'll die a horrible death, or be unlucky, or any of that crap. Its just, if you want to help with this, please do. If you know someone who might want to help with this, please let them know. That's it.

A small rant.

My little druid is creeping up towards 30, and my tank buddy has an alt shaman of similar level so we've been grouping up and working on quests together.

I hate it.

It's strange-- I really like running instances with the guy, raiding, whatever, we always have fun. But any time he feels like he's doing me a 'favor' he gets this attitude that drives me up the freaking wall. I am perfectly competent on my own, tyvm; I am grouping because 1) it's faster; 2) I had the mistaken notion that it would be 'fun'. I am not helpless; I do not need the help.

Really, I'm trying to figure out if the problem's really with his attitude, or if I just have some oppositional thing going on-- "I can do it myself! Piss off!" :)

new!

hi every one, i'm new here :)

I have 2.5 toons on Aman'Thul (the .5 is a bank alt lol). My main is a 70 rogue named lillijen and my alt is an almost-50 shadow priest named elshadai.

I hate long walks in the park, especially when they're between SW and GS :P. i love raiding, and am finding levelling a second time far easier for reasons i don't quite understand but attribute to greater knowledge of the workings of Thottbot.

i am one of about 7 girls in my guild. as far as i can tell, we're all pretty cool, but a new girl has joined recently and i don't trust it yet!!!

anyways, just wanted to say hi!!
Trick or Tweak?

[info]antitweak in [info]wow_ladies

First Post

I've seen this group a million times and thought I would join. Its nice to see other women playing WoW. :)
My 'name' is Kuroneko and I've been playing for almost two years. I have seven characters between levels 29 and 52 on Eonar (US). I'm a member of a small guild called Warforce, which is actually part of a larger gaming clan known as War Force Clan. I also have my own little website about my WoW addiction.
I'm a Night Elf Druid at heart and its the only class I can play. I do have a Mage who enjoys dying... a lot. My Rogue is the winner of the "Worst Rogue Ever" award, and can't do enough DPS to save her life. I'm kinda ok with my Shaman... Maybe... lol
Some of you already know about AntiTweak. For those of you that don't know, AntiTweak is a side project of mine. She is a Night Elf Druid and she does not wear any armor or use weapons. AntiTweak is 31 and I've been trying to get her into a group for Gnomer, but its really hard. For more info, you can visit my LJ. :)

Now I have a question, have you ever run into someone outside of WoW (usually male) and they assume you're a healer just because you're female? I was at EBX for the midnight release of TBC and I mentioned I was a druid. Some guy was like "So you're probably spec'd restro, because girls are healers" or something like that. I had to correct him and tell him I was feral because I greatly enjoy ripping people to shreds with my claws.
Part of my reason for joining this group was to see what classes/spec's other ladies play. I have no problem with healers (one of my druids is spec'd for restoration), but I personally prefer fighting.

Obligatory guild recruitment post. May be a long shot but I know there's a few hardcore raiders in this community!

Let's Go Burgling (http://Burgling.net) is a serious Alliance raiding/progression guild on Arthas (PVP) that's looking to fill in the gaps to begin our progression through Hyjal and Black Temple.
- 6/6 SSC
- 4/4 TK
- Rage Winterchill in Hyjal down

We're looking for:
- Shadow Priest
- Holy Paladin
- Resto Shaman
- Mage
- Warlock
- And possibly a fury warrior with amazing gear and backup tank gear.

We ask that you're on at least the Fathom-Lord Karathress part of your Black Temple attunement. Vials for Hyjal attunement are desired but not required as we still have a few more players to get attuned.

We're looking for  skilled players that have spent time getting the best gear they can, have the best enchants/gems, have the necessary faction reputations, and obviously mesh well with the guild. Basically, being the only girl in the raid 99% of the time can completely suck! :P

Mage Couturier Help Required...

 Hi WoW ladies!

I need educating in the ways of couture for Warcraft. Considering I work in fashion as a career, this amuses me that I am so clueless what to wear in game...  I always bother my guildies with: "OK, stat math time people... which is better? [This] or [That]...?"

I'm a 68 fire mage (10/rest-of-talent-points/0) and I am useless at deciding what gear is good for me. Here's my armory link...

I know that intelligence and spirit is good for Mages, but so is gear that is specced with Spell Damage, Spell Penetration and
Spell Critical Hit, which the Outland greenies and blues drop. I replaced my lovely [Zangartooth Blade] with a 68 greenies solely because it had 80 spell damage... Was that a smart move? Gahh... Gear changes so quickly for me now, I wonder if I'm getting my knickers ina twist over nothing.

My luck in Sethekk Halls for drops is pathetic, and Battle of Old Hillsbrand takes forever... Anyone got any idea where else I can go, or what I can pester my friendly tailors to make for me?

Punki

/wave

Hi ladies, I wanted to do a proper introduction, but I had to wait until I had a proper icon made. :P

That's Punki, my main, a level 33 mage on the Farstriders server. She's sporting cute blue overalls I made her for Brewfest; she is normally somewhat better equipped. I made a gazillion alts, but the other 2 I'm actually playing at all lately are a level 26 hunter and a baby pally. The hunter was my very first character...I was suckered into to WoW when I my boyfriend told me I could have a pet bear. I think I finally found a good guild, and I'm really settling in and looking forward to 40 and procuring a mount. Most of what y'all talk about is still over my head, but I'm learning! Anyone on the Farstriders who'd want to play? I'm always looking for friends to quest with.

Guild help please :)

Hello,

I've got a quick question regarding how to handle annoying whiny people in guilds. I'm co-guild leader in a guild that my fiance and I started. We basically started it with a bunch of RL friends. I don't remember how a few of our most favorite members came to be, but it's a totally awesome couple from Arizona and his brother! Best people ever, but they're not my question.

We're generally a really friendly group, we help out each other when needed. We have this one member, though, that is starting to get on everyones nerves. (I have been getting whispers from our other members about this guy). He wants money and supplies all the time. And now recently wants to run a different dungeon every night. (We have one lvl 70 in our guild, a couple of 60+, and the rest is lowbies, (I'm lvl 57 BE Hunter) and our gazillion alts). Pretty much our goal is just to lvl up as much as we can and have fun doing it. We help and run dungeons when we can.

I ran this dude through WC the other night. The next night, I log on, my fiance needs help running through RFK. As soon as I log on, in guild chat he's "What are we running tonight?" I told him, possibly RFK. He retorted, "How about SM?" I told him maybe another night and he's automatically asking if I worked the next night etc. so the guild could do SM. I'm all for dungeons, but none of us want to run one every night. We'd like some alone time to lvl. (My best friend whispered me soon after this saying that he non-stop asks for things and runs). Is that too much to ask for? We're leveling so that someday we can raid/pvp/do end content. We're a ridiculously casual guild. My fiance wants to kick him, because he's gotten increasingly whiny. Is that the right thing to do? Neither of us has really led a guild; but I know the core group of us (us, RL friends and friends from AZ) are getting annoyed and are at the verge of not logging on. Thanks for the help, ladies! I'd appreciate it.

Squee

Hey look! Not guild drama. Not drama at all!

Just posting because I'm still very up from one of the best BT raids we've had in weeks. Cleared so that we can start with Mother on Sunday. Cleared with less healers than normal. Only one wipe all night, on Bloodboil (doubly amazing that we killed him with 2 less healers than normal). Okay, I almost almost screwed up my Constructs on Teron, but I managed to scrap it together and no one died. My group loves me for awesome phase 3 RoS PoH spam. :D

The only downside is that I was in prime position to get some loots (with the exception of the cloak off of bloodboil, the other priest didn't need a thing) and the only healy priest loot that dropped was the silly shoulders off of Akama (which are worse than my t5 and definitely not worth losing the set bonus).

Seriously, Bloodboil needs to drop my staff anytime now. (I prefer it to Archimonde's, but at the rate we get Archimonde's to drop I may just settle with that for awhile... I believe the shaman/druids have stolen dibs on Illidan's mace).

But in the end, the incredibly successful run outweighs the lack of loot, for sure.
