Does anyone know if any good addons to help me quest and level is a more efficiant manner? I am not looking for a bot. Right now I have QuestHelper, Koordinator, and TomTom. I also tried Tourguide and I am essentially looking for something that would be a mix of what QuestHelper is and what Tourguide tried to be lol. The one thing I liked out Tourguide is that is essentially layed out the most direct routes in a checklist to get things done. It told me what quests to pick up and what not to bother with. I didn't like the fact that it wouldn't mark things on the map (which QuestHelper does), and it seemed to me like you'd have to start from scratch to really utilize the addon. It was telling me to pick up and turn in quests I didn't have, nor were they available to me. I have kept QuestHelper because it marks things on the map and tells me what I need to complete each quest on the map, however, it doesn't essentially guide me in what to pick up and what to skip. Any ideas?

Bartender3 problem - not patch related

I wanted to post this when i first noticed the problem 2 weeks ago but didn't get a chance. I'm hoping someone can point out what I'm overlooking.

I use Bartender3 for my bars and I'm pretty pleased with it. But recently, a problem popped up on all of my characters *except* my druid. I can't use my keyboard to use my attacks. I have the hotkey enabled and all of my settings are the same on *all* characters. This is definitely a Bartender problem, because when I turn off all other mods the problem still exists.

Yes, i'm using the most recent version, but like I said the problem was around before the patch came out.

Here is my druids bar, with working hotkeys

See? The numbers are there and pressing the 4 on my keyboard makes moonfire go kerplow.

This is my mage, same settings across the board (including in Blizz's interface) but now, no numbers are on the buttons and pressing 4 (or any other number) doesn't make anything happen at all. Both characters are using Bar 1 as that bottom bar. I've also tried to delete the profile and remake it as well as deleting the profile and copying my druids and had no luck on either try.

This is particularly annoying because I like to use my keyboard a lot on my warrior. Any help is appreciated :) The main Ace forums didn't have anything noticeable on this issue and I've googled around and the only info I found that was the somewhat the same was a rogue stealthing problem (which my rogue isn't experiencing). But, my googlefu might be off today.

So, I've been meaning to trash my old UI and build one up from Blizzard's base to suit my needs, and I thought to myself that patch 2.3 was a great excuse to do so. This is it so far. Currently using ag_UnitFrames, aUF_Layouts, Baggins, Bartender3, Cartographer, CyCircled, Elkano's Buff Bars, Fubar [Ammo, Bag, Clock, Money, Performance, and Recommended Zone], Prat, and Quartz, but it's not done yet. Still a few things I'd like to add, and most of them I know where I'll be getting them. There's one that I don't though, and I'm not even sure what search terms to use when looking for it.

As you can see in the screenshot I linked above, the bottom of my screen is dominated with chat windows and my buttons. They have 0% transparency, as I pretty much avoid transparency whenever possible. What that means, though, is there's stuff happening behind that portion of my screen that I don't get to see. Admittedly, it's not too important what is happening back there, but what I'd like to do is set up a fake widescreen, I guess. Have it so that it starts above my chat logs, if that makes sense.

So here's my question: Is there an addon that can do that, and if so, where I can nab it? Ace-compliant is preferred, but if it isn't, I can accept that.

Thanks for your time.

X-posted to worldofwarcraft

Edit: Found what I was looking for in Aperture.
Ace replacements for CT components

My last "I don't know my mods" post was answered quite well, so I'm here to bug you with another one.

As I'm too lazy to write any mods myself, I only have these lowbrow questions for the community.

In my continuing quest to get more Ace mods and fewer "other stuff" mods, I have questions about replacing pieces of CT_Mod. I've found I don't actually use all that much OF CT_Mod anyway, but I'm lazy and copy the entire thing into the addons directory, so cutting things out would definitely be good.

CT_MailMod: I hear BulkMail and Postal are both potentials, here. Which is better? Which is worse? Why? I also see Express Mail and Postman listed as alternatives, but I haven't seen anyone recommend either. Anyone used them? Like them? Don't like them?

CT_MapMod: I don't use much of its functionality, but I do use a bit. It seems like Cartographer is the obvious replacement.

CT_BarMod / CT_BottomBar: On this, I have no clue. I don't do a lot with my interface, and I'm not interested in doing a lot. However, the two dragons have to go away. I put my chat windows on the side of the bars and they don't fit with the dragons. Deleting the XP bar and letting me move things down would be nice, too. See my boring, lame UI here. Easy to set up / figure out are pluses.

Thanks for any knowledge you can share!

Edit 2:55PM CDT: I've been using CT_Mod since before I bought my current system. I have a Mac Pro and a 30" Cinema Display. I'd get 30-60 FPS (which, with the system drawing over 4 million pixels, isn't too bad, IMO). I disabled all of CT_Mod, replacing the components I cared about with Bartender, Cartographer, and Postal. I was just seeing 90 - 112 FPS. Sometimes it would drop to 60.

Sheesh.

Item Rack - Other Options?

Hello.

It's time for the dumb question of the day!

I currently use ItemRack as my gear management mod. However, I'd like to use something else... I'm sitting here updating my addons and I have no idea if anyone has even touched ItemRack in months. I'd like something with more active development, something that has a website where it's updated (even if it's just on curse, or whatever) that I can bookmark and come back to. Honestly, I 'd prefer something Ace based that can be found on WoWAce, but if there's not something that will fit my incredibly-picky bill there, I'd happily go elsewhere for what I want.

As far as what I want goes: I like ItemRack, except for this whole, "When was the last update?" bit. I find it easy to use and it still works (so I might not change, anyway). I currently use it primarily to switch between sets on my druid. I want an easy way for me to manually switch sets. I don't care much about automated switching - I don't really want the mod switching based on when I shift. I wouldn't mind something that could put on the boots with spurs when I mount up, but that's by no means a requirement.

I use FuBar, and I like it and its various pieces quite a bit. If there was something that tied into FuBar for the manual item switching, that'd be fine with me.

I've used Wardrobe before, I think. This was after using ItemRack, and I switched back to ItemRack fairly quickly. I don't remember why I didn't like Wardrobe, though.

AFK for dinner (yes, right after posting), so it'll be a while before I get back with responses to comments. I'm still very interested in all the info yall can give me.

Many thanks!

Hey there, new member here. 70 BE holy priest on Medivh named Xiawyn. How y'all doing?

K, down to business, see, I have a bunch of addons which I'm quite happy with and I want to share the awesome. I'm sure you'll all roll your eyes at some of these since everyone has them (Atlas, anyone), but I find them to be nearly indispensible (and some just fun!) Here we go

Adapt: This changes the standard character pics next to the hp and mana bars to animated ones.
AlarmClockWrangler: I play on a server that's 3 hours ahead of my time zone and I hated getting a heart attack every time I looked at the server clock, so this mod lets you change the time displayed on your clock! It even lets you set alarms for when you need to be somewhere or do something, and on mouse-over shows the true server time. Very nice.
Atlas and all its plugins (Loot, all maps): I don't think I need to explain this one. Get it if you don't have it =D
Bag Status Meters: I like to have all my bags seperate, which is why I don't use something nifty like Bagnon (if you don't have my scruples, Bagnon is the best bag mod there is, imo), but bag status meters keeps me from having to open my bags to see how much space I have left, and that's all I needed.
BanzaiAlter: Lets me know when I've gotten aggro. Makes it much easier to know when to fade, even before I've been hit!
BurningMuffin: Additional emotes. Just for fun. /banana makes me giggle.
Cartographer: Ok, I have this thing about having all my maps be filled completely. Cartographer does this for me without having to run into Alliance capitals. It has other functionality, but this is really all I use it for since I have Atlas for everything else.
Chronometer: Awesome mod for casters. It keeps track of the duration of HoTs and DoTs. It's completely necessary for me in Kara when we're keeping track of shackles.
CloseUp: Makes for a better inspect window. You can zoom in and rotate your toon, so you can see the gear from all angles.
DamageMeters: Most likely someone you know has this. I use it to keep track of how my healing compares in raids and how much higher my bf's dps is than everyone else (he's an Orc dps war. insaaaane dps). You can report any of these quantities as you choose, too. Very nice to have for groups and raids.
Decursive: A MUST HAVE for any class with curative abilities. It saved my guild's ass in the Maiden fight in Karazhan.
FGTradeLacker: I like to have all the recipies I can learn, so this is a nice little mod. It lets you know what % of the knowable profession recipies you have and which ones you still need, as well as where to get them.
FriendData: Adds additional infor the your friends list, like gender and guild.
FriendNotes: Ever have trouble remembering why someone's on your friends list? I do. I use this to keep track of why I added someone.
GemHelper: A nice Jewelcrafting mod that lets you look up existing gems by stat, color, or rarity. It can replace the normal JCing UI, but I don't do that. The only annoying thing is that it will always pop up with any professions window and I can't get it to stop. Still, it's very useful.
GFW_AdSpace: When you roll over a white recipie on the AH, this mod will tell you where you can buy it fromthe original vendor. No more overpaying for recipies you could easily get yourself!
GFW_Gemologist: Adds information on what veins gems come from to the tooltip.
GFW_Guildentipper: Adds guild name to player tooltip.
GFW_Linkerator: Lets you type in links instead of having to relink from a window or another post. It's nice to link, say, Gorehowl, by just typing it out in brackets instead of having to go through AtlasLoot to find it.
KLHThreatMeter: Keeps track of who's got the most threat. Important for raids.
LinkWrangler: Lets you open up to 5 link windows at once. Good for comparing items.
MarioFX: Fun mod that adds sounds for when you jumo, mount, etc from...you guessed it, Mario games!
MendWatch: A priest-specific mod for watching who Prayer of Mending jumps too. Very nice.
NicheClassIcons: This is an easy and quick way to tell what class someone is. It shows their class icon in a small icon on targeting. Great for arenas in figuring out what you're up against.
OmniCC: Numerical cooldown counter.
Outfitter: Easy change system for different gear sets. I have mine auto-equip arena gear when I'm in an arena, my carrot on a stick when mounted, and I can easily switch between healing and soloing gear on the fly.
QuestLevel: A simple mod to just show the level of a quest in your log.
ReagentData/ReagentInfo: I was tired of not knowing what white items were used for. This mod shows what an item is used for on the tooltip.
RecipeRadar: A tracker that shows where vendors who sell recipes for your selected professions are. Nice for finding that hard to find vendor.
RessSpeak: A mod which announces who the caster is ressurecting with a funny saying. You can program your own and there's not limit like there is with a macro.
Soundtrack: I like the WoW music, but it gets a little repetative if you're farming in one area for hours, so here's a mod which lets you put your own music into WoW. You can tie it to areas and events, or just have a playlist of things you like to listen to. Up to you!
SpamAssasin: A few weeks ago, my server had some major issues with gold farmers spamming adverts. This mod will block incoming whispers from anyone under lvl 1 to 5 (you choose) with certain keywords in it. I haven't heard a gold spammer since.
Suki MiniMapCoords: Puts coordinates on your minimap. Great for use with Thottbot.
TheCraft: I'm curently looking for a better one, but this mod shows the mats needed for anything made by any profession. Nice for finding out what you need to enchant your stuff, or what mats to get to have a tailor or blacksmith make you something. Unfortunately, you need to know the exact name of the item or enchantment, because TheCraft doesn't show what they actually do, just what the mats are.
TNE_RareTracker: Registers when and where you see rare spawns and keeps the location data in memory for future finds.
WIM (WoW Instant Messanger): This replaces the confusing whispers mixed in with the regular chat box with pop-up windows like MSN or AIM. Don't worry, they wont pop up when in combat, and if you close the window, you can easily open it again by going to the minimap menu button. It certainly keeps me from sending mistells anymore! This also has a built in spam blocker, but I don't find it as effective as SpamAssassin.

Well, there you go. That's my current mod compliment. I hope it helped some people and, if anyone has suggestions for me on what to replace or get, please let me know. I'm always on the lookout for new mods to try out. Thanks for reading!

does anyone know of any addons that simulate the functionality of uberquest that are ace2 compliant and work with the most recent set of patches?

uberquest was basically a mod that made your quest log double wide. one side was just quest titles (what's normally in the upper 1/3) and the other side is just quest text. this may sound petty, but it makes looking through your quest log a LOT easier when you're on a bunch of non related quests all over the game.

A few addon questions

Ok, so prior to the patch I only had a few addons since my computer sometimes hated them. I disabled them all after they broke at patch and wasn't playing much for a while. I now have a new computer and am trying to get things set up with what has been updated. So far I've been able to get Titan and some of their plug-ins, Advanced Trade Skill Window, Receipe Book, SCT, RPG Character Profiler, Mob Info and the Auctioneer Beta. I had the Gatherer/Enchantrix combo but that's still not updated. So, I have a few issue currently.

#1 - It used to be that when I looked at an item, the vendor cost would come up in the tool tip. This was handy for several reasons, not the least of which is that when there was a choice between two quest rewards I couldn't use either of, my avaristic tendencies would make me choose the item I would get the most money from. This seems to be missing right now. I somehow thought it was part of Auctioneer but perhaps it was something Enchantrix had. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and/or know how to get this info back from the addons I currently have? Or is it part of the default that I have somehow turned off?

#2 - I miss Enchantrix and Gatherer for obvious reasons. I have no clue when they're going to be updated, but I don't know much about other options. Anyone have any recommendations?

#3 - I'm finally ready to start playing around with the UI more and move stuff around. I've gotten many recommendations for Bongos since it's supposedly easier to deal with than others. For those that use it, would you agree or disagree with this?

Thanks in advance!

BeneCast?

Ever since the UI changes were announced, I've been trying to find information about BeneCast and if someone is working to fix/update it for the new changes. I know the 'damage based heals' functionality won't work anymore, but I don't care about that, really, they can cast the highest rank of the spell for all it matters to me. I need the buttons to clear up space on my hot bars, it's a waste of space to have things like Shadowguard and Inner Fire (spells that only affect me, but need to be recast quickly when they run out, so casting from the spellbook isn't an option) on the standard Blizzard UI buttons.

I've looked up the names of a few mods that people told me were similar (GroupButtons, PartyCast), but none of them seem to be updated either.

In the new UI system, is it still possible to have a button that casts a specific spell on a specific target, or is this one of the things Blizzard has intentionally disabled?

i.e. I want a button next to each person in my party and on my current (friendly) target that will cast "Power Word: Sheild" ... normally I only need that in an "OH SHIT!" situation and clicking a button/pressing a key then targetting just takes too long. (Obviously, there are other spells I'd like on this button bar, too, but I'm just using one example for simplicity's sake, and PW:S is the one I've noticed the lack of the most.)

I'm pondering just writing my own mod to do this, but I've no idea where to start, or even if it's possible anymore.
