[Dec. 9th, 2009|02:37 pm] |
So, im putting off the purchase of the Rolex for the time being.. Also looking at getting a Rolex Milgauss with Green bevel jewel instead..

They are already selling for above retail.. and cost about $3-$4K more than the Submariner that I initially wanted.. but I think its a better investment, and a more unique Rolex..
That all said, I have a couple of new leads on my Jaguar, and the mess up at 12thfret has been ratified (been waiting over 4 weeks for my les paul to show up on their website for consignment, the guy called me earlier today to tell me that it will be put up in the next couple of days)..
So in the mean time, the $$ I had already raised I spent on my Home theatre.. Got a nice Harmon Kardon reciever (with pre amp outs, so I can hook up my amped yamamha speakers as rears) also got a KEF centre and 2 KEF front speakers.. (all on sale) did a complete re-wiring, hiding all the wire and making everything nice a neat.. added a bunch of cheap ikea shelfs to make the Home Theatre centre complete.. Only problem now is, my 42 inch LCD TV is too small, so once my guitars flip, ill be looking at getting a 58 inch Plasma as my main living room TV, and putting the 42 into the bedroom..
Ill stick up some pics once this is all done. |

| Battle in Seattle |
[Dec. 2nd, 2009|10:28 am] |
Just watched this propaganda film..
Funny thing, the protesters don't make a single point.. ok, one mentions sea turtles..
Watching this film, objectively and without bias, you don't pick up anything other than they mayor tried to keep things civil, was being pushed by the white house to act. The violence only started when some anarchists broke windows.. Then the cops went all crazy smashy smash..
They whole purpose for the protest isn't even really developted, and no anti-globalization reasoning is pushed. Makes the protesters look like trouble makers.. yet the director, who in the special features mentions how he's in league with the anti-global guys, was trying to open eyes to the trouble with the WTO.. Ok there is the small sub plot where some african nations delegates get pushed around so they step out of negotiations, yet really it just makes them seem like spoiled brats.
I guess when your 18, and wanna lay a whack of hippy chicks, its cool to protest, regardless of the facts or reasoning.. |

| Robert Bateman.. |
[Nov. 30th, 2009|07:09 pm] |
So here's a weird one for my "guitar store".. A signed, numbered and framed Robert Bateman print my parents got in a raffle 15 years ago, that they hated and told me to sell..
Don't think Ill get too much for it.

| So I'm skipping out on my high school reunion |
[Nov. 28th, 2009|04:47 pm] |
I originally planned to go with my best friend from high school. She was a year ahead of me and had her reunion last year, but I didn't want to go without her. She called me this morning and said she was feeling sick and didn't want to go. I mulled it over and decided against going. I still keep in touch with some people from high school, but I have no desire to be around the majority of my class when they are chugging free booze. I have mixed feelings about high school now that I'm older and have spent years in therapy.
My twin brother has no intentions of ever attending any of the reunions. He was bullied quite a bit in school and has a complex about having a blue collar job (he's a machinist). One of the guys that beat him up died of a heroin overdose but the rest of them would certainly be there tonight.
My dad is a big reunion guy and has been planning various reunions for his school(s) for the past 25 years. He was already bummed about my brother's choice not to go and I'm sure he will be disappointed that I didn't go. I couldn't care less. I'm not interested in a pissing contest.
Have any of you guys gone to your reunions? |

| Craigslist |
[Nov. 26th, 2009|03:39 pm] |
Ive been doing sales and buying off of CL for years now.. The worst thing is when you show up to meet someone to buy something, and when you get there someone else has beat you to it..
Its happened to me on a few occasions.. I also once arrived, and then 5 minutes later another bidder.. who then had a bidding war with me over the item.. I knew the retail, so I bid it up and over the retail then dropped out..
Anyways.. So how I handle this, is to have only a single person come by each night to view an item Im selling.. I confirm with them before hand and let whoever confirms first have a first go at buying..
Ive explained this to a couple people who are currently interested in products Im selling and they just don't get it. I tell them I don't want 10 people at my place at once, all pissed off they had to drive 30 minutes and now I have to either pick one or let them bid over something..
Anyways, it makes selling take more time, but I think its the most ethical and least abrasive way of dealing with multiple people who are interested in a single product. |

| Not exactly a mecca of punk rock.... |
[Nov. 25th, 2009|12:02 am] |
however here's some free mp3's if anyone wants some.
This is all music from Southwest Missouri where I grew up and unfortunately still live (most notably Joplin, but some other stuff as well)
This area had some surprisingly decent bands through the early to late 1990's and it's all documented here.
It's not my page, but Gabe the guy who does the blog has done a nice job with it.

| Martin's Guitar store updates. |
[Nov. 20th, 2009|03:29 pm] |
Well the 12th fret hasn't yet posted my Les Paul on its site.. which is kinda pissing me off, but I can wait..
I now re-listed the Jaguar on CL and Kijiji, Lowering my asking price by $200.. which I assume will get lots of responses.
Also sold a case and 4 pedals..
So im up another $400..
If the 2 guitars sell, Ill have enough for the Rolex.. Then all the rest of my Amps, pedals, recording gear will all go towards my debt.. |

| so, i'm quitting smoking. |
[Nov. 19th, 2009|08:43 am] |
but i'm kind of cheating. i started taking some drug called chantix. it works pretty well. i haven't smoked in a while and the plus side is i have fucking epic (see: homer) dreams. i don't remember dreams well, but last night i was a ninja and the dream went on for years. kinda cool.
the one thing that sucks about smoking, though, is second guessing myself. i have to keep asking myself if i really want to quit. fuck. i sure could use a cigarette now. |

| Martin The Guitar Store.. Update |
[Nov. 9th, 2009|11:59 am] |
Decided I hate people too much to keep dealing with them.. So I put my remaining two guitars on consignment at 12th fret..
(12th fret is a world reknown vintage guitar shop that lists its stock online.. which will open up my customer base to a way larger, way more lucrative market.. also they appraised my Les Paul at $1900.. )
Then its time to get my Marshall re-tubed (one broken tube) and start listing my Amps.. then its pedal time..
If I get what 12th is selling my two guitars for, ill be up $3700 towards the Rolex.. which is about what I want to spend.. but I may need to get a few more bucks out if it goes up over $4000.. |

| William Ashley Sale! |
[Nov. 5th, 2009|09:24 am] |
Got myself a nice Le Creuset Tagine at the WA sale.. (William Ashley is a upper crust dinnerware/china/cutlery/crystal/kitchen gadget store that holds a 90% off Xmas sale each year at a warehouse.. needless to say I was competing for deals with a bunch of middle ages woman)

Also grabbed a couple of All-Clad kitchen tools, a Le Creuset Pie dish, some Stainless steel chop sticks.. and 4 sets of Dansk Flatware (at over 50% off).. as seen below..

Might have to go back for Xmas shopping this weekend and I know the GF wants more Le Creuset shit.. |

| Hmmm.... |
[Nov. 4th, 2009|11:32 am] |
Just noticed that on Ebay 1974-1976 Gibson Les Paul Deluxes are going for $3500-$5000.. I guess the $1500 im asking is a bit too low.. Im gonna pull my ads and put my last two guitars up on consignment at the local Vintage shop.. fuck these low bid assholes on CL.

| WTF. |
[Nov. 2nd, 2009|07:40 am] |
So, now in the past 3 months, 2 of my X GFs have gotten married. I have only had 5 GF's and each I dated for over a year.
But all this really proves to me is that people are liars.
Im pretty specific when it comes to dating, and have always been very clear about one thing, Marriage/Children are Verboten. And all the girls were in agreement and supported this.. The one X who did want marriage and one kid, isn't one who is now married.
The newest X who got married (halloween marriage I guess shes still a fucken child) is now pregnant.. I had gotten her pregnant when we dated and had to take her kicking and screaming to the internal vacumn centre... Id have an 11-12 year old kid now if I hadn't which is fucken scarier than AIDS, scarier than 9/11 scarier than Being mugged by a teletubby |

| you want the skinny? |
[Nov. 2nd, 2009|02:42 am] |
okay, so i have to attend a lecture in the morning about a subject of which none of you care about (honestly, you shouldn't; philosophy has become so parochial it lacks any applicable relevance which is, of course, sad).
but, how is graduate school? it's a mixed bag of shits and giggles and a lot of bruised egos.
i hope everyone is fabulously well to do. i made carbonnade tonight. i rep'd belge like no other (i actually told people that belge makes us look like idiots).
i know that eda is the most important person in my life. i can't blame your envy.
i was RN, that's the truth yo.
peace out |
