Hello and welcome to World's Finest, LiveJournal's largest and longest running Superman/Batman community! This community is dedicated to DC Comics's most popular and iconic superheroes, Superman/Clark Kent and Batman/Bruce Wayne. Here you will find fic, art, icons, gift exchanges, comic book scans, news and discussions of the recent movies and comic books -- as long as the post applies to both Superman and Batman in some way.

This is a slash-friendly community, so from time to time you may see posts depicting Superman and Batman as more than friends. But we do encourage everyone to join, whether they are fans of Superman and Batman as friends and/or prefer them in a relationship. Please DON'T join if you are NOT at the legal age or if adult porn isn't your cup of tea. Anyone is welcome to keep this community on their friends list, however.

World's Finest is a very open-minded community, so posts that include content of other pairings (like Bruce/Selina and Clark/Lex) or content focusing on other pairings (such as Robin/Superboy) and include Batman/Superman are allowed and are very much encouraged here; this also includes content that crosses over with other universes like Marvel, Wildstorm, and/or Dark Horse. We'll always be accepting content that's set outside the world of comics, such as using Clark Kent from Smallville or Batman from Batman Begins/The Dark Knight.

1. Please don't post any newbie/intro entries ("Hi, I'm new!") or any kind of off-topic post (DC related but not necessarily S/B related), unless you're providing "gifts" (scans, fic, art, icons, pictures, etc) to the community.

2. Please use the LJ-cut code (or simply link to the item) if:

- it is a music video (usually embedded by YouTube),
- you are posting more than three icons, and
- the fanart or comic scan is bigger than 400x500 pixels.

Remember to label all fanfic/fanart in your post's subject line (like fic: "Earth and Sky") and use the appropriate tags located in the tags section so that everyone can easily find your stuff while browsing.

3. Please be sure to use the header (shown below) and post it outside the LJ cut (whenever you're using an LJ-cut) so that people will know what to expect before reading/viewing your content:

4. Please respect all icon-makers by giving them the proper credit that they deserve. Also, do not alter any fanart that you see in this community without the artist's explicit permission. Likewise, we have a plagiarism policy; please see that for details on warnings and bannings. By joining this community, you agree to our plagiarism policy as well as our rules stated in this userinfo.

5. Advertising any community of any kind is strictly prohibited. This is forbidden for the very simple reason that World's Finest isn't an advertising community. There are many other excellent communities out there for that, such as comicstore_news and monitor_duty. Likewise, advertising websites or project journals in this community not related to S/B are strictly prohibited.

6. No posting illegal content! This includes links to download movies, soundtracks, and comics. The mods do not want this community permanently suspended over something trivial, like someone posting a song.

7. The moderators of this community, superfixated and mithen, will be watching this community like hawks, so if we find any trolling, insults to fellow members, or mocking the World's Finest in ANY way, we will NOT hesitate to use the ban feature.

worlds_finest holds various projects and events throughout the year, including an Awards event and a Gift Exchange during the holiday season. Because this community was founded by a group of friends with a fierce love for Superman and Batman, the mods will allow anyone who is a WF member to host an activity or an event at any time throughout the year. If you wish to host a project or an event in the near future, such as a holiday gift exchange, you may contact me at my fandom journal, superfixated.

New to DC Comics? It's a good idea to use Wikipedia to learn more about DC's characters and events to get caught up. Another great site to learn more about the DC Universe is The DC Database Project. If you're new to buying graphic novels and don't know which type to get, you may want to read up on this helpful Intro to Trade Buying guide first.

Superman/Batman
DC Comics provides the World's Finest Archive hardcover editions, which are stories written from the 1940s to the 1980s. There are also the current Superman/Batman volumes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and so forth.

Superman
Check out Superman Homepage's resourceful Where to Start page. Other recent titles include Superman: Last Son; Superman: Brainiac; Superman: New Krypton volumes 1-3; Superman, The Coming of Atlas; and Superman: Kryptonite. Look for more Superman titles here.

Batman
superfixated highly recommends the following: Batman: A Death in the Family; Batman: Year One; Batman: Knightfall volumes 1-3; Batman: The Long Halloween and its sequel, Batman: Dark Victory; Batman: No Man's Land volumes 1-5; Batman: Hush volumes 1-2 and its sequel, Batman: The Heart of Hush; Batman: Red Hood volumes 1-2; Batman: Face the Face; Batman: Detective; and Batman: Death and the City. Naturally, all of these graphic novels are available online at Amazon, Borders, and Barnes and Noble.
