| 02:38 pm - More WPC results Thomas Snyder has posted the second half of his WPC report.
It confirms the individual rankings were Ulrich 1st, Mehmet 2nd, and Roger 3rd. Also:
The US maintained its strong showing of past years to claim its 11th team title with Japan in 2nd followed by the Czech Republic. Given how all Americans were in the playoffs and the highest Czech was tied with Zack (and booted by a tiebreaker), I’m amazed at the strong Czech showing. They did phenomenal in the team rounds to overtake the Germans.

Other than the "Friends" to this blog, the best place to stalk is the TBT 2008 topic in the Turkish forum.

 | 01:42 pm - India finals available In addition to the online qualifier already posted a couple weeks ago, the Finals of India's National Sudoku Championship are now posted. In addition to rounds of classic puzzles and rounds of variants, there is a relay round where 4 puzzles are linked requiring you to solve the first to get additional givens to solve the second and so on. This likely serves as the best indication of what to expect in Goa at the World Sudoku Championship.

| 09:48 am - India qualifier, more Italy, Japan/Russia? * Jason Z. of the US Sudoku Team dropped a note in passing about India's National Sudoku Championship where
REGISTRATION OPENS ON SAT 1 MARCH 2008 ONLINE QUALIFYING TEST ON SUN 16 MARCH 2008 FINALS IN BANGALORE ON SUN 30 MARCH 2008
and apparently the online test is open to all.
* According to the followup to this message the Italy online championship has moved to March 8. (Thanks to Klaus Nehren for the update.)
* Japan's site has a mysterious update. From Google Translate:
Due to various reasons, we said, "2008 World Sudoku Championship" Do not send athletes. From Japan, Mr. Tetsuya Nishio Captain and the 2007 Japan national team players will participate. Also, the 2008 All Japan Championship held NANPURE you.
If I'm reading correctly, there will be no Japanese national sudoku championship this year, but they'll be sending their puzzle team from 2007?
* Russia supposedly had their championship but there hasn't been any website update.
