Loot cards
Does anyone have a "Drop rate" for loot cards in the TCG? Like... if I buy an entire box of boosters, is there a good chance I'll get at least one?

Although they are upping it apparently in MotL

"The HoA loot card rarity was reported as the Tabard loot being equivalent to a single rare, Hippogryph equivalent to a single epic, and the Mount equivalent to double the rarity of a single epic. This comes out roughly to be one per four boxes of packs, one per case and one per 2 cases or 1:96 packs, 1:288 packs and 1:566 packs. The actual ratio is a tad bit smaller than these numbers, but it gives you a general idea. An epic card is twice the rarity of a rare card."

On that note (I hit enter and it posted, damnit).
My boyfriend and I bought about 10 boxes before we saw our first loot cards (he likes card games, it's not the only card game we buy/trade/sell). At the end of the day, it's still random.

Yes, as in 10 boxes of the booster packs.
Over a length of time, not all at once. We tend to buy a few (boxes) of every set, then more boosters or singles of what we're missing.
We got 4 boxes right at release of Fires of Outland. We'll likely get the same of March of the Legion when it comes out.

Your numbers are correct...and add in the fact that even if you busted a case there was no guarantee that you would get a turtle mount. We once cracked a case and got 3 Hippogryphs and 9 tabards.

If your looking for loot cards, Ebay...if you want to take your chances buy the raid decks, they upped the drop rate of them in the loot packs. Once we cracked a display of them (6) and got 2 mounts, 1 gryph.

Let me rephrase that. We bought two regular decks, not boxes of boosters.

Aha, okay XD I kept thinking "good lord, that's a lotta money for TCGs"

Though I know there are people that do spend it @_@

As an avid collector of the loot cards and not the actual CCG i found it alot more cost effective to just buy the individual loot card off ebay. Wait a few weeks or a month or so though. There is always an over priced rush as the must have spend the premium. Then as demand slides the price quickly goes to half.

As a collector of the non-combat pets (when I can... damn that Sinister Squashling for not dropping!) I've been considering this route for a while. Do you find yourself being 'taken for a ride' much with eBay purchases?

PS - That icon rules!

never. I have bought three loot cards and 10,000pts worth of UDE point cards without a single problem. I plan on buying all three of the loot cards for this expansion. There is currently only one person selling them on ebay right now with only the kitting card being really ridiculous. But this time next month there will be a glut of them and the real shopping can start.

if you liked that one. Try this one out.

Very good!

And I'm glad you said that - I'm always nervous about bidding on things that can so easily be scammed. May well get the monkey pet as a present for my brother. :)

I just recommend paying close attention to who is running the auction. I only bid on auctions put up by gaming stores. They are in the business of selling more of these in the future and not as distrustful as the 15 yo trying to make a buck.

So you didn't get the Squashling either? Woe is us! D:

I bought my Hippogryph off of eBay as well. It was way cheaper than buying a bunch of the cards would have been. I plan on getting the fishing chair if I can as well.

Oooh! The fishing chair! Nice idea!

My guess is you've been hunting for Mr Pinchy as well? :)

Hm... thing is, if there's a good chance at one or two in each large box, it's cheaper in the long run (hippogryphs still go for 70 bucks, and the tiger mount is still around 400 - but considering I have -no- idea how likely it is to find one of those sorts of things in the hundred dollar box, it's obviously a gamble).

Of course, I'd be pretty happy if I could find a couple, keep one, sell the other and recoup my losses :p

to get the most common i think you have a 1 in 4 chance per box. So not a good chance.

I got a hippogryph for about $25 a few months ago. Keep an eye on ebay, not only the auctions, but the merchants as well. You should be able to find lower prices.

In my first box, I got a goblin gumbo.

In my second box, I got a goblin gumbo.

I've since been too poor to buy anymore. :(

So, I was poking around on ebay and found this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/WARCRAFT-WINTER-VEIL-LOOT-MINI-ELF-PET-CARD_W0QQitemZ230187231698QQihZ013QQcategoryZ2535QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Are they moving those to be cards instead of in-game gifts? I still have mine from a few years previous so I wouldn't be THAT sad, but I'm just curious.
