UI question
Anyone noticed that when getting drunk in game, the camera goes way back. Well I like it much better that way. Anyone know if there's a addon that makes this a permanent feature?

No addon needed. There is a setting that will allow you to change the maximum camera distance.

the tunnel vision effect is actually further than the interface option allows :P
Not sure how to get that though...

That's what I want... the far far far back vision :D

Just how much further back are we talking?

I have my maximum camera distance setting pushed all the way up, and it's enough to make my character smaller than my little finger-nail on 1280x1024, as long as I'm in a place where the camera will fit.

I have the camera distance maxed out too, and my character's size doesn't change.

It's really annoying when I play a Tauren.

Fish-eye lens ftw!

I'd use a mod that does it. :D

I'm talking about the far far far back vision you get when your character is drunk.

I notice no distance change when I'm drunk, so I assumed I was already that far back.

there is no real distance change, it's a visual effect, tunnel vision.

Not really.... Barleybrew Clear is only 3 coppers a bottle.

That's about 3,300 bottles per gold!

LOL!

Well if anyone is interested... after doing more research I found what I was looking for. XD ...silly me not looking before posting.

This seems a little excessive to me though:

the last img you linked is with the 50 limit barrier broken, i run the mod without the config file edit and it's done swimmingly. aside from the benefits in raids thru ssc and tk, the ability to see incomings in AB is pricelss for me! :D

There is an addon called oTweaks that allows you to set the maximum camera distance way further than allowed for in the default UI.

For some reason I can't find it on Curse, Wowace, or Wowinterface as anything other than part of a UI compilations. Still, it's out there and it's very useful.

For example it's part of this UI. Sucks that you'd have to download then entire compilation just for this one small addon, but I can't find it anywhere else.

Ok ... found an old version here and here.

I think it's the same one I'm using, and it works, just make sure to select "load out of date addons". Also, it has no UI, so you have to type /otweaks (I think, I'll check when I get home) to bring up the menu options.

/console set cameraDistanceMaxFactor #

where # = 1 through 5 for varying levels of zoomyness (1 being default, 5 being whose that spec over there?)

1 being "I can't see around my freaking head", 5 being "you divided by zero, oooohshiii--".

Fixed. XD

Instead of addons, you can just type this into your console:
/script SetCVar("cameraDistanceMax",30)

Change the distance (30) to something larger if you want to go further back. We did this for the Void Reaver fight, since it makes it easysauce to see the orbs as they're coming.

This post wins.

Now I'm imagining macro buttons for zoom in and zoom out. Hm.

I'm not sure if you could macro it to zoom in and out tho... what it does is set your max distance, then you zoom out. When I executed it, there was no change in my view, until I hit my scroll wheel button to zoom out. Then it was "hey! I'm all mini-me on the screen!" I've used it often since when I need better scoping on my surroundings, so it stays once you set it. :)

Huh. Is there some way besides a mouse scroll wheel to do this? I use a trakball with no scroll wheel.

Honestly not sure. O_o There probably is a way, and I know I've done it on my BF's laptop but that was usually by accident... While I played Diablo 2 quite extensively with a touchpad, Wow wasn't quite as conducive to that style of play as evidenced by my tendency to spin in circles, zoom in and out at inappropriate moments and run off cliffs.

I bound camera zoom to + and - keys (zoom in and out, respectively).

I believe this is called FOV (field of vision). Normal games have a set FOV of about 90 degrees. In the quake series you could modify it so you could be at human FOV (120 degrees). It looks like when you get drunk, your FOV is increased so you get the "fish eye lense" effect. As far as I know, there's no FOV mod out there but I could be wrong.

There we go.

I also have not seen a mod to do this, but I wonder if one could setup a mod to piggyback and auto-drink liquor on a constant basis to maintain this.

As fabulamesovita said above me, it's not an increase in distance, but rather in perspective. Fish-eye lens effect is pretty cool to look at, but it gives me a headache when combined with the blur effect. :/
