Now that the attunement's lifted...
So, uh... what kind of gear do you REALLY need to kill void reaver? Think a mid-Kara guild could do it?

*ducks the tomatoes*

(Yes, I'm kidding. But without attunement requirements in place, a good idea of where he falls progression-wise would be nice for planning purposes.)

I have no experience with the Reaver myself, but I would imagine going through Gruul and Mag first couldn't hurt, lol.

Clearing Kara, Magtheridon and Gruul several times should yield enough ups for a group to give it a try.

Mid-Kara hasn't really even gotten to the big cockblock fights yet, and you'll need some fair-to-good coordination (not to mention 25 man raid experience and raid comp) for VR.

I was just curious because I heard people say he was abnormally easy, so I wondered if he would be killable before Mags now.

The folks reporting him abnormally easy are past Kara, Mags, Gruul and into SSC... so from where they stand he's a punching bag. Probably notsomuch from raids who haven't gotten that far yet. =)

First, I personally have never raided past mid-Kara, so this is totally theory.

Void Reaver has 4.5MM health and enrages at 10 minutes, according to WoWWiki.

Optimal group makeup is 4 tanks, 6 healers and 15 DPS. Assuming healers do no DPS and tanks average half the dps of a normal DPS person then each DPS person has to sustain 450 DPS for 10 minutes. (4,500,000health/10min/60sec/15people)

So... just theory crafting, it's really a Tank / Healer gear check.

VR isn't a simple 10min/60sec/15people DPS fest. Melee DPS need to avoid Pounding, ranged DPS need to avoid Arcane ball thingy. These calculations aren't correct.

This is the main thing that is going to suck about the attunements being lifted. You're going to see guilds not even in SSC sporting t5 shoulders. That's how easy Void Reaver is to kill.

Yea, I'm a bit curious about this.. my guild just started the 25-man stuff, killed Gruul last week, and now there's talk about skipping Mag for now and doing Void Reaver and possibly some of the SSC bosses. Fucked up, eh? But feasible?

Feasible... yes. If you're coordinated enough to down Mag, you can take on SSC and Void. If you can't down Mag, you might not have the cojones to take those on.
