Current mood: bored

So I get bored easily and also like stabbing things in the face. And now I'm wondering if there's any information on the old high-level instances (as in, anything from Maraudon up) for bored people like me who would like to solo stuff and get all sorts of outdated loot just for the hell of it.

EDIT: Also, how many lv. 70 people do you all think it'd take to clear the old lv. 60 raids?

I get bored of getting stabbed in the face. You might try BRD, I had a freind at 70 who solo'd the whole thing with no issues.

I stealth-soloed BRD before the bear damage nerfs, haven't tried it again since that. I suspect it's going to be a lot more difficult alone, but with a friend it should pose no problem.

5 level 70s were taking on MC for a while. I think they got up to 12 to take down Lucifron. I think you'd need more for BWL simply to get past Razorgore (if it's not still bugged).

I watched my guildmates 10-man Ossirian. It took them about an hour to blow through AQ20.

A hunter in our guild solo'd LBRS. I did some of it, walking past the trash mobs and then taking down some ogres on my own before going after Omokk (trying to get the gems to finish the key for UBRS). I actually made it all the way to Wyrmthalak before some trash mobs resisted my feign death and kilt me dead.

I've also done some of BRD solo, mainly to run down to the tavern for TB rep drop offs. I had no problems soloing groups of dwarves and elementals.

Mythmaker? Yes it is. :) I picked it up about a month ago!

(I'm really hoping they tour into my area again sometime soon... not much I regret in life, but missing their concert a few years back is one of those regrets that I really hope to redeem!)

*cries* Damn you for seeing them! *sniffle*

There's two concerts I've missed in my lifetime that I've horribly regretted... SP and Roger Waters (doing lots of Pink Floyd songs). I wanted to go to the latter, but didn't think the amount of cash for the ticket was worth it. My boyfriend called me from the concert just as one of the old PF songs was starting up and I started to cry... I instantly regretted not going, bugger the cost.

And then I was told that Roger Waters is touring again... and will be coming here in June (or around then). I promptly informed my boyfriend to go buy tickets because I *was* going to it this time around.

I can only hope I get a chance to redeem myself with Skinny Puppy, who I love more than Pink Floyd.

I got to the Pyromancer in BRD, trying to get fiery, but no luck on the drop. Will have to try again some time. Not bad for a shaman. Only died once because of a stupid pull :)

I've done 3/4 of BRD solo as a 70 Paladin. I'm Prot, though, without the points in being able to heal myself without interruption (the only thing stopping me from soloing all of Strat, though I can do about half with no problems).

A hunter and two more guildies trio'd UBRS the night before last, I think.

We got all of MC up to Domo cleared in about 3 lazy hours last night, with 20 people, a couple of which were just barely over 60, and myself as a 52 Shaman (with no Shammy dropds, damn it!)

I (level 67 heal/prot pallie) and a friend (level 66 rogue, unknown build) duoed every boss in Scholo the other night. Doubt either one of us could have soloed though, even given another 3-4 levels.

I have the quest that requires using the Blood of Innocents and killing the boss it summons. Dunno if I can get anyone to come to Scholo with me for it though. Think it would be possible for a level 70 hunter with pet to solo up to that point and kill said boss? (possibly just ignoring / sneaking by mobs until getting to the boss location)

(I don't have a lot of experience with Scholo period... only been in there twice I think, so I'm not entirely sure how much it would kick my hiney. I've solo'd parts of BRD and LBRS though.)

I always found Kirtonos pretty easy, but then, I'm a paladin and he's undead. Could work. Certainly should be hell of a lot less trouble than Darkmaster Gandling or the Butcher.

Maybe I'll give it a shot sometime this week then... I know it's not really worth doing at this stage (level 70), but I hate abandoning quests that are almost done. Might as well try it just for the hell of it. If it don't work, I'll probably dump it after that.

Kirtonos ate me and my cat for dinner last night. :(

*sniff*

I need a healer or something before going after him again. Or maybe I'll just drop the damn quest since I don't think I'll get anything worthwhile at level 70 for it. :/

As a 70 resto shaman I've soloed BRD.

The problem in soloing lower level instances is physical damage. If you can mitigate/avoid it/heal it, then you'll do well. Elemental damage from spells is simply NO problem - you pretty much resist absolutely everything (the Magmus fight in BRD, for instance, takes place in the middle of the jets of fire for a level 70 character, so you can watch your SCT make your screen fill up with "resist" messages).

The physical damage problem is also worth keeping in mind when it comes to bosses who spawn adds. Unless you can kill the boss in a reasonable amount of time, expect some problems (there is a dude in Maraudon who summons 3 adds every so often, there is a troll in ST who summons skeletons unless you're careful).

The fact that level 70 characters have such a tiny aggro radius also helps out. One can sneak past a great deal of trash. In BRD, for instance, one only NEEDS to aggro 2 things prior to Magmus (the torch dude sin the Lyceum).

I was doing solo runs through BRD to the tavern from about level 65 on (just to drop off rep items). I could make it all the way through with no aggros until the pathway directly leading to the tavern, where I'd grab aggro on all four elementals and have to FD right at the end of the path in the tavern.

Did it at level 70 a few times... can run right in between the buggers without them noticing me! O_o

Same things with LBRS... I can pretty much make it all the way over to the ogres guarding the ogre boss without aggroing anything. Sometimes I'm just a wee bit too close to a group so I do pull them, but it's nothing a FD can't get rid of. Other times, I just run right in between and nothing notices me.

I always wondered though... how can mobs not *see* you? Logically, one would think they would be able to see a toon wandering five feet away, nevermind this invisible "aggro" radius. Every time I wander by I imagine their thoughts in their head... "oh, that's just a silly little night elf... nothing to look at, no big woop". Then I smack their heads into the ground.

I always thought of it less as mobs not seeing players, and more of mobs being too scared to attack the player until they real close. They can see the skull level on your portrait!

Good way of looking at it! :D

Except why don't they run away then? I know when I see a skull level critter wandering around, my toon automatically turns on "chicken" mode and bugs out of there as fast as possible!

Or does that Feign Death thing... you know... just in case I can't run away. Like that stupid Maggoc critter who stomped on me from behind when I was killing spiders and then ate my cat after I played dead.

He wasn't a skull to me at the time, but I think he should be. :(

"But she's right on top of you."

"No, she's not. Really."

"Get off your duff and attack her. Why else do we pay your salary?"

"Oh, fine." *charges to death*

Most of the lvl 60 stuff can be soloed or duoed by lvl 70s these days. We have a paldin who regularly solos Scholo in the hopes of getting the flask recipe from Ras.

Solomance, anyone?

I can do most of Scarlet Strath solo, save for the last boss. I can usually whittle him down to 30% in demon form, but his fears mess me up.

Haven't really tried undead side yet.

My guild did BWL with about 25 people, up to Chromag. We had 30 by the time we got to Chromie. Not all of these people were level 70 either; and most of the level 70s were still very fresh.

As a 70 rogue in 5man blues, I've solod (ok, well run lowbies thru) SM, ST, and ZF. These were full clears, including the temple stairs event in ZF.
I haven't tried Dire Maul, Scholo, Strat, or *BRS yet.
