To catch a thief.
Or, in this case, to scam a scammer.

I got another one of the AD scams, this time on my (not so tiny any more, 56 go!) shaman character. It contained a 'plain letter', and a 100g COD.



So without picking up the COD, I sent a reply to the letter containing a bag of flour and a 5000g COD.

A few hours later, I check mail. Ka-ching!

I immediately report this to a GM, because dude, I don't want to get hit for goldbuying. I explain the situation, explain that I'm *all too happy* to delete the gold if they want me to. I still have the original mail in my inbox and haven't picked up the 5k yet.

The GM arrives and asks me to explain it in more detail, so I do.

He says he needs to get a senior GM. I worry. The senior GM asks me to explain things. I do.

"Sorry, we're a bit busy laughing here... it WORKED?"
"Yeah."
"You can keep the money. That's great. Thank you for reporting this."

So, uh, I guess my Shaman is set. So very cool.
