ZG runs now...
Has anyone ran ZG since the BC?

As a mage I'm going to attempt and get a group of guildies to help me get my turtle book.

I'm curious, how many 70s would you recommend for a run straight to Gahz'ranka?
Would a regular 5 man group be enough? (1 warrior, 1 healer, 3 dps)

We 8-manned Ghaz at 65. You can actually swim straight there instead of wandering through the mobs. You just have to be careful not to aggro the croc packs.

Aren't the croc packs non-elites?

Not unless they changed them, or I'm remembering them wrong. I always thought they were elite, but of the lolzelite variety.

They're that narfy flavor of instance non-elite that HITS like an elite, but has no hit points.

If you want it to be silly take 8 70's ^.^, 5 *should* be fine.

Even the best guilds/groups/teams will wipe if people aren't paying attention and don't take the instance seriously.

That is basically, if somehow with five level 70's it manages to go wrong, no one can say I said it would be fine. A disclaimer if you will.

The priests in my guild were all whispered to join a PuG ZG group, right after we spent a frustrating night wiping in Karazhan. We all all laughed at him in guildchat, mostly because we were clearly not in the mood.

I forgot about the turtle book, I guess that would be the one reason to ever go back. My priest was only 60 a week before BC, and doesn't have one point of rep with the Zandalar. My mage is exalted though, and as far as I'm concerned the whole place can burn to the ground for never dropping my wand.

Ugh, the thought of not only grinding rep with them, but also fighting over the one stupid idol drop makes me want to gouge my eyes out. If you have the rep though, and can turn in Bijous for the shoulders, its just a simple 2-man farming operation on alligators and fish. I know a mage and druid could duo the packs before the expansion.

I put +18dmg on my D3 shoulders as a warlock. It's comparable to scryer/aldor exalted enchants, and way better than honored.

Only if you're not exalted with Aldor/Scryer.

Prior to exalted it may be worth it =) but only if you don't need to grind the rep, I keep meaning to wonder back over with my tokens so I can pick it up again as Aldor and I aren't quite into the honored stage yet.

We ran it last night as a guild just as a group bonding sort of thing before going for level 70 content (we're still working on getting people up to 70 and getting them keyed as we're a Casual Guild that likes to raid). It was the equivalent of a L60 romp through SM.

I would say you'd probably still want a 10-man group for the boss just to be on the safe side, but getting to the boss will be cake. The trash explodes when you've got 70s beating on it.

Even for the bosses, a group might not need to be maxed out on the party. I went into UBRS with a 7 man PUG and we pulled off defeating The Beast with two dragonkin adds (and no player deaths), as well as Drakk and his two guards (I kited Drakk over the bridge into the room before The Beast's lair, but then he cooked me and ran back... so six people managed to wipe out the three on their own). We had no 70s in the group... six of us were between 63 and 68 and there was one shammy at 58.

So with good playing and organization, it should be possible to take out the bosses without having a full party. Just my two cents.

It's sort of sad when my Zangamarsh Claymore quest reward has a higher DPS than Zin'rokh, Destroyer of Worlds. :/

I'm surprised by how many people are still somewhat interested in the old content. Some of my guildies wanted to do ZG a couple weeks ago. For fun. We ended up inviting lots of random non-guildies, at one time we actually had 19 people, anywhere from a 51 druid to a few 70s. It was... interesting :)

well, all the bosses in ZG are level scary (skull) which means their effective level is usually at least 3 above yours, guaranteeing higher resists and glancing blows. as such, a five-man group will have no trouble with the trash but may find ghaz challenging, cake though he is.
