Playing WoW at work?
People on the WoW forums say they do it. I remember some guy said his boss told him it was ok, even.

I'm just curious, where do you guys work?!

I could do it, but can't without a laptop. I'm a night-shift front desk security guard at an apartment building with time to kill (I read, watch DVDs, play my Gameboy, etc). My city just began offering two hours of free Wifi for everyone downtown, so if I did get a WoW capable laptop I could spend two hours questing, farming, or grinding a night. Unfortunately I don't. :/

That sucks. I have a laptop from HP, which you would assume sucks, but it actually runs WoW pretty well.

I work for a government agency that's under constant scrutiny by the press. We don't even check our personal email with our Internet connection -- it's strictly business use only.

You'd have "Government worker dings 70 - buys flying mount" spread across the headlines. :)

My sister-in-law was complaining to me that some office assistant plays WoW in the office she works in. I don't really know how he gets away with it other than counting on his coworkers own ignorance of computers to keep him gainfully employed. I told her that playing WoW at work is rubbish and they should fire him, and hire me.

Friend of mine does something with taxes so usually in the fall when no one thinking about taxes he'd play wow or call friends.

Me personally? Checking LJ, fourms, comics and other personak sites is the best I can do

I do the graveyard shift for an ISP. I have to be there in case of emergencies or big customers calling but once I answer all the emails I have the rest of the night to do what I want :)

If we got wireless at my store, I theoretically could. (I could also party up with my boss *grin*)

A friend of mine used to work at car wash, and her boss would play WoW at work. During the colder months, their business would slow down so much they could go a whole day without a customer. So her boss took up playing WoW, and tried to get her into it. XD

I work in a 3-person tech support shop for one of the departments at the local university. I LJ and forum-surf in an attempt to pass time and look busy. I am sure my boss wouldn't approve, but I usually fit it in while I'm waiting for other stuff, like emails and on phone with Dell customer service.

Also, I don't get to log into the game here except for lunchtime. I usually only have enough time to check my mail and say HAI to the guild and my fiancee before I have to log again.

I used to work as a student in another tech department where we had lots of downtime and EVERYONE played, even the boss. They got so bored during Christmas break that they all went and ran SM one afternoon. It was like working in a LAN party.

I said to my boss 'Wow.. this is an awesome system, I wonder how wow runs on it' And he said 'Install it and find out!'

When i was going through the horrible illness in the family thing I would log on for 15 or 20 minutes during lunch, and I would log on after work now and again but I don't do that. I now know it runs fine and I'm going to uninstall it.

I would NEVER EVER play during work hours. And yeah, i felt guilty about playing at lunch, even though it was my time for me.

I'm a codemonkey, so... I couldn't get away with this otherwise I'd have some explaining to do when the deadline came & went. Forums, LJ, comics... good enough for me. I don't need to WoW 24/7.

Like some others, I can surf, read up on as many stratagies the surf control will allow and that's it. I was able to WoW at one job, but I had to bring my own system in - it was a desk job, pure boredom. Now, not so much. Not to mention, I think it be a quick way for me to totally burn out on WoW if I had access to it all day and evening.

I have enough downtime, but I have to at least look sort of busy. Which means I can listen to my ipod and surf LJ for 7.5 hours a day that i'm not actually working, but nothing that if someone walked behind me they would freak out about. *sigh* I would totally have 2 or 3 70's by now =(

Yeah, I'm at work now, so I can surf LJ but its so freakin busy that, even if this computer could actually handle WoW, I wouldnt have time to play.

And besides, Im just covering the desk job, usually Im up and about the whole time.

the closest I can get is I wait til all the managers go home, then I log into my home PC via VNC and fire up WoW. I can check my mail and scan the AH with auctioneer on my bank but thats about it. Also good for patch day so I can have the patch downloaded and installed and when I get home I am ready to play.

But VNC is not very playable, the screen refreshes every 2-3 seconds, can take me 5 min to navagate to the Mailbox from the AH or back.

Same. I used to play all the time during my break (never in class, but only because the wifi there is different and blocks WoW) but I had a couple of classes after that I just wouldnt go to sometimes, lol.

My brother in law plays at work. He is the boss there :)
I usually see him log in, and then usually see a LJ post from my best friend shortly thereafter (who works for him) about how badly work is going. Heh.

I play at work. I'm sneaky like that. But I usually just do auctioning, fishing or crafting. I have to be able to minimize if somebody comes in the office so no questing or grinding.

My husband works for a game developing company, so yeah, almost all of them have it installed on their workstations out there. I envy him so much, because I can't since my screen is quite viewable to others, and I don't have much to do. With my previous job I could though, but I wasn't introduced to the wonderful world of WoW then.

I work by myself and bring my laptop to work and play WoW.

I also work at a porn store in a upscale place in Boca Raton Florida...

Not a lot of people come in here. I have gotten my Paladin about 5 levels just in the two weeks I have worked here.

and I get paid 7.50 and hour. not bad for a college girl. :)

I enjoy it and I even do my homework here. Business should be picking up soon, but I can still get in some questing or grinding during the slow times. Raiding and instancing is kinda hard, but later in the night, I usually try and get a run in somewhere. Its pretty nice.

One of my guildies plays from work so much it's a running joke in guild chat. Once in MC he went AFK for a while because he had to have a meeting with his boss. We'd already been there for almost two hours...then after the meeting we went another two hours.

Even though the IT guys at my university play too, I'd never get away with it. There's just too much damn work to do...and I'm not helping matters by applying for a promotion, either.
