Collector's Edition
The Collector's Edition of World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade is sold out. Please visit our detail page for the regular edition.

They just added this text to the Amazon.com page for the Collector's Edition.

Our local EB says they've presold all their copies. I have a few places I still need to call, and I guess I could stalk places on release day, but I'm really afraid I won't get a copy of the Collector's Edition.

Does anyone know of places that still have it? Is everyone sold out?

p.s. I love the mood icon for cranky. Rawr.

edit: There's a post on the forums about this and a Blizzard response states:

Some retailers have been taking Collector's Edition pre-orders, but from what I have seen of the online retail sites they appear to have sold out rather quickly. Some retail stores are still allowing pre-orders if you walk in, but the number they have available is limited.

We are not offering the CE for purchase in our online store at present. If we do sell it we probably won't take pre-orders but I would recommend keeping an eye on the website. Your best bet at this point would be to find a store who is still accepting pre-orders or get up early on launch day and wait at a store that didn't take pre-orders at all.

I doubt I can (or am willing to) afford the sort of prices they'll go for there. I would really like the CE because I have the CE of the original release and they'd go nicely together. I know eventually they'll probably release the art book and soundtrack and such separately, but the main reason I want the CE is to go with the first one.

Check canadian sites.. alot of them haven't even had it up for pre-order yet. Otherwise.. I'm camping on release day just like you :(

You could keep calling GameStop/EB to see if anyone's canceled theirs. Always happens at least a few times, so you could get in that way. Either that or try places like Best Buy and Circuit City on release.

So Best Buy and Circuit City don't let people pre-order on their websites? I see the option to pre-order the regular BC on Best Buy's site but not CE.

There's a Best Buy literally right across the street from my house. I get off of work and home by 8am and it opens at 10am. I'm thinking if they're just going to have in-store copies I can pick one up release day.

Yeah, unless there's so few copies printed altogether that each store only gets a few and all the employees buy them for themselves or hold them back for friends and friends of friends and such. :/

Hmmm.

I just called my Best Buy and asked "Will you be taking preorders for The Burning Crusade?"

His answer was "We will when they get here. They haven't sent our preorders yet."

So, if I understand correctly, I need to keep checking back because they will preorder they just don't have the numbers in to know how many to sell and the numbers in the system to actually ring things up.

There's no way they could reserve a copy even if someone cancelled. The reservation SKU has been turned off company-wide, so the computers won't let it be reserved anymore.

The original release Collector's Editions were a one time print and sold out pretty fast. WoW has many many more players now and I don't know if anybody knows how many copies of the Collector's Editions they're planning to print.

I'll let you in on a little secret...

EB/Gamestop's hold policy for reservations is 48 hours. If you can't find any extras on release day, try coming back in 2 days to see if someone didn't pick up their copy, or if someone ended up picking up the regular edition instead of the collector's.

I work at a Best Buy in Ft. Lauderdale and we don't do presells for anything (no consoles anyway) so if you have a Best Buy close, I'd tell you to check there and as early as possible, whatever day it comes out.

Now that I think about it, we do have a presell going on for Guild Wars Nightfall (am I allowed to mention that? :p) but that's for the regular edition. There's no way to "upgrade" your presell to the Collector's Edition. I always forget we have a smattering of presells (there's another one for Neverwinter Nights 2, also) because no one ever actually preorders anything. Most customers are accustomed to just coming in and hoping for the best.

But yeah, at least at my store there'll be one less on the shelf... :D

Best Buy Canada still has ... 77 collecters editions left for presale. You probably won't get it on opening day, as they don't do store pickups for presale items, and they get sent out the day it releases -- so, a day or two. (My new ipod shuffle will be coming in that way, too.) :)

$99.99 CDN.
