sucks :(
/
so yesterday was my first run through deadmines, and thanks to 2 high lvs in the group, this is how me and a buddy spent most of it. not my idea of fun when i play a warrior...

what sucks even more, is that thanks to their high lv, i got more experience out of completing the quest, than i actually did running through the dungeon. isn't that amazingly sad?

Yes, and no... It is kinda sad, but trust me, after a while when you get to higher lvl stuff and you just can't find groups (or you've done it before and find you HATE fill-in-the-blank dungeon) you will be like thank goodness! when a lvl 50+ person runs you through it. I know on a few I was very happy, thinking to myself, "now I can get those darn quests outta my log and never set foot in that aweful place again."

Tho, with the Deadmines tho, it is a bit sad because I DO like that one and it isn't very hard for a normal lvled group to do, and is pretty fun. Look on the bright side, now that you've done the quests, you can run it for fun... and profit!

That's a main reason I didn't want to be power leveled when I started the game. I had friends who were willing to run me though instances and I did so for my first instance (Rage Fire Chasem) but after just standing there I was not one for staying to the side. I wanted part of the action too. Now unless I want to be run though for an item or just to kill time for fun I try not to go into instance with guys who can take care of the job without me.

I also got sick of "Just stay stelthed in the corner till I say come out"

yeah RFC was the only place I've gotten run through by a high level too, just because I couldn't ever find a damn group for it and wanted to get those quests gone.

Frankly, I don't think they are doing you any favors. I'm assuming this if your first character to run an instance, and if so they are depriving you of valuable gaming experience by taking any challenge out of the dungeon for you.

Go back with a like-level group. You'll have much more fun, and learn a lot more too.

100% agree with this.

Second time, twink all you want. But first time through, play it... play it slow... read the quests... group with people who are one or two levels around you.... take your friggin' TIME... because you'll only get THIS game once.... You can get another race to 60, but you can never, ever, EVER get this first time through experience again.

Agree tenfold.

The lower level dungeons are where you get the feel of your class, what you and a group are capable of dealing with, and how to react when something goes wrong.

Yes. You very much need to learn how to play your character in a group.

Then run it with people your level. Your main job that run with your friends was to get the gear and learn the instance so that you can run it yourself.

The first time I ran it with my group, I had to do it with a Pug. It sucked. We wiped a few times. Then I had a high level friend run me through it... I learned (as a priest) where I need to be to not aggro stuff and what the upcoming parts were like.

Believe me, it's a blessing when a high level runs you through places like gnomeregan. I hate gnomer!

On the other hand, it took me three tries to get all the way through the Deadmines.

It's nice to have the quests done. Now that you do have them done, you can get a group together and be picky about who you let in!

I agree. I prefer doing instances with people of the same level. I tanked uldaman with my level 45 warrior and had a BLAST because the group was 44-48, no higher.

And we did well.

I have been rushed through instances before, but I do always try to find a group around my level so i can elarn my class.

one of the higher ups was a priest, the guy next to my character here is also a priest. all i said at the start (being a warrior) is, "with 2 priests at my side, i better not die" and the higher up priest said "do what i say and you won't" (though i did once) and my priest buddy just sat there while the high priest and the other higher up, a warlock, killed everything. yes, that took the fun out of it.

later last night, a higher up in my guild did the Yowler quest with me in Redridge and she did it correctly - i fought and when i was getting my ass kicked, she'd heal and then kill everything around me. then repeat. that was enjoyable for both of us, because i got to kill and she said she was enoying her end. that worked, but this DM run, my buddy & i were bored ;(

NO i want to play the game. its boring to be level 60, but it is fun to get there....ugh

About the experience bit:
Its sad, but without it WoW would be another Diablo II.. with high levels rushing people through everything (they do now but not quite to the extent that it happened in D2)

In a way, you "cheated" the system by having someone do the work for you. If you go through a level appropriate dungeon, grouped with fellow adventurers of an appropriate level, you'll get the full experience, pun intended.

Unless your post was a clever trap to see how people would reply.

I really, really wanted to do Deadmines with a group, but no one wanted to actually go through the effort with me. I finally gave up and had guildies run me through, because I got really frustrated with the LFG process.

Well, if you didn't like the added help of higher levels in Deadmines, you shouldn't have gone with a group that had higher levels in it. You should have realized there would be no tanking and no challenge for you, but you went anyway. *shrug* Guess, if you don't like it, you learned a lesson. Next time stick it out and go with a group of the same level or so.

Though, be grateful you got the quests done and DID get the experience from them (and the damn nice quest rewards). My first character never got Deadmines quests done because no one wanted to take a hunter along during the times I could go.

Not everyone can actually find a group. People seem to be so used to going through with the help of higher levels that they don't want to bother putting in the effort of going through with people of their own levels.

After a person I'd LFGed for trying to find someone to run me through, then having the next group turn themselves into a raid, I gave up and went through with guildies.

Your emotions are the reason why I don't run lower level MAINS through things. It totally spoils the game for them, in most cases.

However, by the time you are leveling your gazillionth character, the story and your feelings about it changes. So I do run alts through instances, and also ask for that favor while leveling my alts.

Now that I've been playing the game for two years (well, almost), I don't mind being run through by friends. If it's a stranger running me through, I don't really like it because 90% of the time they're idiots. >.> Most of the time, I really like being able to play my class rather than get babysat. Other times, I just want to get my quests/gear and it's fun playing with my fiance (who is generally the one who runs me through if anyone).

The first few times, I went with a group. Now? I just have a 60 friend run me through. I get all the loot, I get the quests don't quickly, I usually get almost a level out of it in XP, and I don't have to go back. VC is kind of a formatily on the way to getting to more interesting questing places now...but that's just me. I like being run through VC by s 60. :)
