Zen of Ravencrest (Horde) Recruiting

24 Nov 2009
12:31pm
Quest giver: [info]monsterxero in [info]worldofwarcraft
Description
Zen is a Ravencrest Horde guild focused more on the 10 man version of raids and a strong tie to friends and family. We do our best to push the content that we can and succeed when many others fail. We have currently cleared the entire Trial of the Crusader. Our only foe left to defeat is Yogg-Saron himself. Soon we will be pushing into the Heroic versions of the available raids and we will be preparing ourselves for patch 3.3 and Icecrown Citadel. Our raiding days are Monday, Tuesday, Friday for Onyxia, and Saturday and start at 7:20pm Central Time.

Right now we are looking for a few good dedicated healers(One of each class, plus two non-cloth healers), a DK tank, and a handful of DPS(One Enhance Shaman, one Elemental Shaman, one Boomkin, one Rogue, and one Hunter). If you're not in the list above, and are still interested in joining us, feel free to also fill out an application. We are looking for people that are dedicated to putting the most into their toons. People that take the time to make sure they are bringing their best to each raid, but also someone that understands that guild means family and friend. If you feel that you are willing to put in the time and effort to be a good dedicated player, a good a decent guild mate, then please fill out an application.

With these additions, we plan to add second, and perhaps third groups of 10 man runs, and progress into 25 man content.

I need help with gear, ect.

23 Nov 2009
12:07pm
Quest giver: [info]somanyregrets in [info]worldofwarcraft
Description
I know there are lots of different dps builds for death knights out there, ect. But I still don't really understand them. At level 75, I'm pretty much completely unholy, and have just started to put the new points I'm earning into blade barrier, ect. ect.

What I really can't fathom is if unholy is supposed to be high on the dps scale, why am I the lowest (like literally in 5th place) when I'm in a party full of DKs (with the exception of a priest or occasionally a pally) and someone rolls a damage meter.

While I don't really use enchantments or anything (I know I should, but I don't know which ones I SHOULD get.) I know I base most of my armor around haste and critical hit (sometimes swapping off for hit rating).

Can you guys please take your precious time to explain to me what I'm doing wrong, or what enchantments ect. That I should get for my death knight? I don't got any idea, and it would be really appreciated. I've never been this level before.

You can take a look at my gear HERE.

My usual rotation usually consists of two Blood Strikes (to trigger blade barrier), and then two Obliterates. Then, I spam rune strike (if it's available) or death coil until my cooldowns are done, and then I repeat. :3

Is 10k health okay for a death knight my level? I know it must be stamina that helps with health, but how do I change that in my gear without becoming a bloody tank?

EDIT: I changed my talent spec, since I posted this, and yes, I'm dual wielding. Okay. I understand most of what I'm doing wrong here now that someone has said what's wrong. I've stopped using obliterate as well, and have started focusing more on my diseases. Sorry for being such a nub and asking so many questions, but this is the highest level character that I've ever played. :3

"Guild Banker" information. Posted here upon request.

Mood: calm

Description
This may or may not have been happening to others within the game, but it happened to me, so I started to research and dig around.

First of all, the old NPC character "Guild Banker" has arisen back from the dead and has started to return items back to former GMS of old and defunct / disbanded Guilds.

Picture proof:Read more... )

Now, I made a reply / responding post on an actual thread via the wow customer support forums and opened a ticket on the 19th.

Link here: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?sid=1&topicId=21254576032&pageNo=1&ST=US-416727-wEs7PYD4hje4xJYxAS9yw2PrndKxPW7gepB (thank you wow-ladies irc for finding the link!)

My response is on the bottom of that thread.

Anyway, I was on my Space Gypsy on a server where one of my irc lady friends plays, when the GM'S totally found me and happily discussed with me, about the issue at hand.

Picture proof:

so that's the gist of it.
If you get "Guild Banker" Mails like this, PLEASE leave the items intact, and let the GM's know you have been affected. They are now looking into this matter.

PS: x posted to http://community.livejournal.com/wow_ladies/ (though that was a few days ago.)

I stress, please leave the items you may get alone. Since Blizzard GMS are unsure about what to do with these items from old disbanded guilds.

Hit cap, Fury warrior

22 Nov 2009
10:57am
Quest giver: [info]xforge in [info]worldofwarcraft
Description
So last night I was informed that the hit cap for a dual-2H-wielding Fury warrior is not 8.5% as I was originally led to believe, but more like 21% or even 26%.

Does anyone believe this is even possible? What are possible techniques for getting that much hit without throwing attack power in the dirt? I thought I was doing pretty well, albeit stalled out a bit in the 2500-2800 DPS region, but now I discover I have possibly thousands more hours of raid-farming and gold expenditure ahead of me?

Anyone wanna join me leveling my mage? = )

Anyone else having problems with WoW crashing after being on for a minute or so? Everything was going fine for me and then Lil Timmy walked by me and my whole game messed up. The screen went black with faint outlines of things in the game, then things got really sluggish to where I could move one one step every minute and after a couple of minutes of trying to fight this and hope it ends, the game crashes and asks if I want to send an error report. I tried doing a repair and thought that'd fix it, but it didn't. Now I do have quite a few addons that I tried to update with my Curse updater, but I kept getting an error saying addon update failed. I dunno how to fix this. Please help...if you can.

At what point does Defense cap out to Diminishing Returns?

Now I'll explain.

Defense per point adds avoidance stats, even past 540 which is the cap for uncrittable.

Defense is also subject to diminishing returns, which at a certain number of skill defense, it gives less avoidance per point then it had prior.

Does anyone happen to know what that cap is?

I'd love you forever and bake you a cake.

I've decided to drag my mid-level mage out of the mothballs and am looking for some good resources about the class. Obviously there's Elitist Jerks and the WoW Mage forums, but I'm looking more for blogs along the lines of druids' Tree Bark Jacket or Restokin. Google appears to be full of "Buy my mage levelling guide!" or "Buy Zygor's addon!"

What are some of your favorites?

Dunno if I've mentioned this in comments along the way, but I need to get this off my chest. Each time I see the Wrath loading screen I can't help but notice the little ornamental head carved on to top of Arthas's crown. I always imagined it talking to him and arguing with him for some reason - well, I've figured out where the idea must have popped up from deep inside my head!

Did you ever see Labyrinth (1986)? There's a scene where an old wise man instructs Jennifer Connelly which way to go and his hat argues with him - he admonishes the hat to be quiet. I couldn't find a video of him and the hat, but here's a wav file of the audio of the conversation, and the picture to the right. I don't think I could do the lore here justice, but I wonder what their conversation would sound like?

A report on the recent event sponsored by a guild in World of Warcraft to raise awareness and money

Quest giver: [info]scifiblogger in [info]worldofwarcraft
Description
Raid for the Cure brought people from all over the Warcraft community to the Kael'Thas realm to raise money and awareness, and to allow people to honor those they know who have been afflicted with breast cancer. Sponsored by the guild Sidhe Devils, this event was in honor of a member of their guild, Julie, who shared her diagnosis with guild members in late October, and began treatments earlier this month. The event was announced on the the popular blog Big Bear Butt, as BBB is the leader of Sidhe Devils, and many other bloggers and websites helped spread the word about the event. The event itself was simple but fun. Alliance players started in the Night Elf starter zone and ran to Darnassus, took the boat to Auberdine, and then ran through Ashenvale to the Barrens, stopping near Crossroads

ToC 10 man clear

20 Nov 2009
9:42am
Quest giver: [info]ian_gunn in [info]worldofwarcraft
Description
For you serious raiders this is a small triumph but let me rejoice a moment. :)

To put this in perspective, I am a casual player in a very, very fun filled casual guild. We do raid and do try to progress but not 4 nights a week on a focused goal, or even 2 nights a week regularly. Just when we can with a mix of different folks for 10 man raids, whoever can happen to make it that night. We've been chipping away on Ulduar, lately getting Hodir down with some regularity on 10 man and one kill of Thorim.

Last night we started out working on a 25 man Ulduar run, teamed up with another guild and a number of pugs. We banged our collective selfs for a few hours with not much to show for it but some laughs and called it for the evening.

Our guildies decided to go take another crack at 10 man ToC. We've been in there as a guild 4-5 times over the last month or so occasionally work on the beasts and we've been sooo close we figured we should be able to get them down very, very soon.

So, onward in to ToC. It takes 3-4 attempts but we finally down the beasts. There is much rejoicing! It's late by this point but we have to at least make one try on the next boss, right? We one shot him. Faction champions? We two shot them. Twins? Two shot them too. Anub takes 4-5 attempts but we put down the big bug. Holy crap! We went from not having any progress in there to clearing it! WOOT! A big shout out to all my friends in All Together Now of Garrosh!

I'm going to be a zombie today at work but it was worth it :)

Patching after installing WoW twice on the same computer

20 Nov 2009
11:49am
Quest giver: [info]disastrouscode in [info]worldofwarcraft
Description
I am installing WoW twice on the same computer because
a) I own two accounts, and sometimes I need to load both to transfer crafted items
b) I don't like having two instances of the same installation writing/reading from the same set of files

I know that in the registry there are some keys that point to where WoW is installed, and that's how patches / expansions know where to look for the current installation. I had to delete some values so the installation DVDs would give me the option to install (had to fool it so it doesn't find my current installation).

Since I installed WoW again on a different drive, the values of those keys now point to the new installation instead of "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft". And when I run the patch files from my desktop (going from 3.0 to 3.2.2), it automatically updates the new installation.

My question is, what will happen when 3.3 comes out and I will need to update both installations:

I know that for my new installation, it will patch just fine. The downloader will grab the file and run the update smoothly because the registry values point to the new location.

But for my original installation, will I need to change the registry so it points to the original location before I try to patch it? Or will the downloader "know" that it will be patching the copy of WoW that's located in the same local directory?

Sorry if this sounds confusing...
