| About: | This is a community to discuss Worldcon (short for the World Science Fiction Convention) in general and specific. Questions ranging from "How are the Worldcons selected?" to "How do I volunteer to help out on one?" to "Can someone explain preferential balloting?" and many more are welcome here. Ideas about things to see or do at Worldcons are also welcome, as is thoughtful discussion and critical analysis of said ideas. Whether you have worked on Worldcons since you were but a wee tad or you are just now hearing that such things exist for the first time: Welcome! Pull up a virtual chair and join in the discussion! ===== There are just a few rules of the road, as it were, for participating here. * Whenever possible, please use I-statements such as "I believe that..." or "I recall that..." rather than making general pronouncements. I've found them to be a boon to conversation, not a hindrance. * Be courteous to all questions; if someone has asked it, they'd like an answer. Even if the answer might be, "See this post over here." * "Thank you" and "Please" are useful social lubricants. Please use them. Thank you. * Encourage discussion, don't truncate it. Responding to an idea or suggestion with "That won't work" or "You weren't there" is far less helpful than explaining why you think it won't work or offering additional details. * Please use the cut tag if your post is running long (more than one screen on an average-height monitor) or if you are using images in your post. ===== The community icon will display a logo of the upcoming Worldcon.
