AboutThis community is very simple: its for the information/support to/of mothers who, for whatever reason, need to express breastmilk for their child(ren). If you feel like you're better equipped that most midwestern dairy farmers, join us!

rusty666, your moderator, have breastfed three children. The first one exclusively, the second and third with forumla supplementation. This was heartbreaking, and I can only imagine I'm not the only one who feels this way. For hours every workday I would retire with my pump to a noisy, cold supply closet where people would knock and jiggle the handle frequently in my 20 allotted minutes... after several months of this, (coupled with the fact that my kids have always slept through the night..), my supply dropped to almost nil. I would pump every hour, I'd sit in front of the TV after the kids went to bed hooked up to the pump for a straight HOUR, I tried everything I could think of and still - not enough for even one meal. I could have died. I had no knowledge of prescription drugs that could have helped me, knew nothing of Fenugreek or oatmeal as boosters, etc. I'm hoping that by starting this community, I'll be able to help other mothers who hopefully won't have to go through this same heartbreak. To me, breast is the only option and formula is a last resort.
All women who've experienced pumping breastmilk for their kids, for whatever reason are welcome. All women who are planning on pumping in the future or are looking for support on their current pumping experience are welcome.
This is a flame-free community - obviously all of us here believe that breastfeeding is the way to go. Welcome!
