L.A. Conference Notes: Kadir Nelson
Author/illustrator Kadir Nelson has won tons of awards, including a Caldecott Honor.

Favorite bits:
He shared tons of his artwork, from childhood on, and it was fascinating. The amount of talent he had as a little kid just blows me away! I especially loved a drawing he shared of the Incredible Hulk beating up The Fantastic Four.
He quoted Ntozake Shange, the author of Ellington Was Not a Street, as saying "Nothing denies negativity like beauty." Love that.
Just seeing his artwork was inspiring. His subjects are lit from within by a radiant beauty and nobility. He has a recognizable style, and it's gorgeous.
