Time to put in the earplugs and plug the headphones into my sound machine. They're not making that much noise, but I really don't want to be listening when Mr. Pukey comes a-visiting. And something tells me that's going to be fairly soon... Current Mood:

Since this one doesn’t have the kind of payoff the last one did, have some doppler. Originally published at something or other. You can comment here or there.
horseskin @ : Abstink
As I dredged my way through the world of Absinthe, I started just before a ton of reviews and information about traditional absinthe came easily accessable, I bought a lot of drink to try and wound up with some not so great in my collection, I also ended up with some amazing drink in my collection too. The most amazing I have is designed (if you will) by Ted Breaux, the brand is Jade. Ted is a chemist and opened up some preban bottles and figured it all out, and really really upped the bar. Now he has created a shadow of an absinthe, although made correctly in a traditional manner, it's made weakly (still better than where I started - I new enough not to by Czech "absynth(e)" but still I did try La Fee when it came out... I am speaking of Lucid. So a decent place to start. What I hate about it is it's design and marketing. It's marketed to common American party drinkers aka douche bags and frat dudes. Now we are going to get college mooks drunk on absinthe and crashing and killing and blaming the absinthe. Also the bar within walking distance of MY house in Bremerton serves Lucid, further prooving my point. (the girl that tends the bar is a COMPLETE douche - She'll Louche you so hard!) But there is a very highly praised Absinthe being made in the US, California in fact. St. George http://www.drinkhacker.com/2008/06/23/r St. George Spirits Absinthe Verte is made with fine brandy, star anise, mint, wormwood, lemon balm, hyssop, meadowsweet, basil, fennel, tarragon and stinging nettles. This infamous liquor reveals seductive flavors of anise complimented with sweet grassy tones, light citrus, white pepper, and light menthol notes. Sounds interesting! Someone send me a bottle!

![]() Are those cheek implants?? Maybe hers were so naturally sunken from the lack of eating anything that she had to get fake ones installed. And her arms/hands are incredibly janky. Those are the stuff nightmares are made of. Imagine at night that those hands are slowly coming towards you to tuck you in....and then her creepy cheeky face looms in the moonlight and she whispers, "Nighty niiiiiiiiiight" (*sing-song voice*)...and one of her skeletal hands reaches up to her dingy head of hair...and she plucks a wad out...and she cuts her eyes at you as she twists them together into a dread....and sloooooowly reaches to place it next to your head...and you can smell the sweat and kabalalbaalaalalaaa incense all over it...and her bones creak as she slips into the shadows.......... *SHIVER*

But many who took part in this debate during the last five years were unfamiliar with the kind of historical research that was being carried out because they didn’t read the books we were writing. They were commenting on us as historians on the basis of what they read in the textbooks, if at all they read the textbooks. So the attack on me was because I had talked about the eating of beef in the Vedic period in a Class VI textbook. This has been an established fact in historical research for many decades and therefore has found its way into a textbook. And the people who were vilifying me as a historian were people who had certainly not read my other books on history. -Romila Thapar http://indology.wordpress.com/2005/02/2

Isn't this some kind of spamming scam? Could this be for real? Should I report it to LJ? I don't want her to friend me. Ewwwwwwwwww-- she's a 22yr old BIMBO. I have nothing in common with 22yr old BIMBOS, having never been one myself. I don't even want to message her and ask her to not friend me because if it is a spamming scheme it might end up putting me on more stuff like this. How the hell did she see my LJ? We have no friends in common even. And no one has friended her back.

Brown's in Wales again working at Hogan's house. This time the major project seems to be one of the bathrooms. They're putting in new pipes and a shower enclosure around the tub. I've been playing with hair and he's been playing with plumbing. It's almost time to close up the doors and go upstairs for a shower. It's been fairly warm in the house today, and that's very unusual. I very rarely walk around in without a sweater on in here. I think I'll have a pot of nettle/peppermint tea after my shower and watch a download or two, then go off to bed fairly early. It's a rough life. ![]() Current Mood: content

There are things that, despite my celebrating my birthday as a Leo, fully define me as Aquarian. To say I'm an Airhead is not too far from the mark. One of the things I've begun doing this past year is Making Tea for Ezekiel. I love tea; I always have, and I've tried to emphasize enjoying it MORE than just on weekends. Mornings where I don't have to burst out the door to work usually find me relishing several large "gardener's cups" full o' the black leaf. On weeknights, there isn't that sense of relaxation. That is when Ezekiel gets his tea. Based upon the idea that at the Passover feast there is always a cup of wine sitting, waiting for Ezekiel to arrive and join in with the family in observance, I began calling those large cups or mugs or pots of tea that were brewed for sometimes several hours as "Making Tea for Ezekiel". I would go in, WAIT for the water to come close to boiling (but NEVER boiling, because who wants boiled water in their tea?!?), pour in the water over the tea waiting in a bag, a tea spoon, or a pot...and then leave it. Compleately. Forgetting I'd meant to have tea, I'd wander off and do something elase, totally forgetting I was making tea. Hence, Making Tea for Ezekiel, the One coming to 'join in' that never arrives to drink the forever-steeping tea. Pathetic, I know, and it's more than a bit annoying to discover I've done it YET AGAIN! I do my best to try to hang around the kitchen while the tea's brewing, but I have so many THINGS I want to do that I often wander off and never go back to it until as late as the next day. Truly pathetic. Anyway, another thing I tend to do is to 'flashbomb purchase' tons of books whenever I go to Half Price Books, since I don't get out in those directions all that often. There are no good bookstores anywhere near where I live or work, and all the HPBs in my city are just about as far in three of the four cardinal compass points as they can be from the centre of town and yet still being considered to be 'in town', requiring quite a drive to get there. I can be counted upon to denude most of the sections on Medieval and Celtic histories, Arthurian studies, Faery and Mythic subjects, Archaeology, and in the past year, Aromatherapy. The past two weeks I've gone to TWO different HPBs, and since there wasn't enough time to actually READ the first pile of books before I grabbed the second, I ended up with a duplicate: Marion Wayman's "Aromatherapy Treatments". If one of you wants this book, speak up. First come, first grabs. It seems very good, very comprehensive yet also erring on the side of caution (always good with potentially toxic materials when someone doesn't use precautions). It's brand new, other than the stupid fact I jotted my name in the front before realising I now have TWO of them. *smacks forehead* On a totally 'nother subject: HELLBOY 2 OMG! Great movie! While I had a heads-up that the Fae were speaking in Old Irish and that they were using King Balor and his 'son' [grandson] Nuada of the Silver Hand in this movie, they don't strictly adhere to the Celtic myths. Nuada has no Silver Hand, for example, and he and his twin sister Nuala both look like the Wraith [Stargate Atlantis] version of Michael Moorcock's white-faced, white-haired Elven Warrior. STILL! Totally fun, and I loved the Flame effects on the gal-pal of Hellboy. That's how I imagine my Flame Elf. Double points for their having the 'four fighters' at the last quarter representing the Four Elements. I'm off--Celtic band playing over at Bookmama's and then I'm writing for the evening. Love you, Nechtan ;)

Suffice to say, I haven't had this much fun in a long long while. Also, Calli, you should call me. DUH. PS. I kind of hate how much I am starting to kind of like Barack Obama. Except for his whole comment about Americans learning Spanish ... nischt on that nonsense.
