I bought Superhero Movie this week. I saw it in theaters, just like Drillbit Taylor, because it's Drake (Well, Drillbit Taylor was because it's Josh, but...yeah). And between now and March, I managed to forget how much I hated it. I have a hatred for the entire genre, actually. Not superhero movies--they're all right. Spoofs. I hate them with a fiery passion. There are some reasons for this: one, I hate puke. I cannot stand it. And there is always, always puke, in every spoof I've ever seen. Two, I can't stand fart jokes, or any mention of farting whatsoever. There is usually farting/fart jokes in spoofs, and there definitely is in Superhero Movie. Three, it's never funny to me. If I understand what they're spoofing, then I can see where the jokes come from, but I still don't think it's funny. The unrelated jokes are funnier to me than the ones about the thing being spoofed--like in this one, there's a line about "crazy is dating Paula Abdul." That's kind of funny. It's always tasteless, and I know that's the point, but there is a limit...
Things I actually liked: Drake, obviously (although if he becomes one of those actors, I might have some problems with him. Comedy, yes, fine. If it's funny. Spoofs? Harold and Kumar-esque comedy? Please no). I also enjoyed hearing Drake swear. I have a swearing fetish, so...y'know. *shrugs* I actually like all the gay jokes. I probably shouldn't, but I do. Um...that's about it.
All right, I'm not being fair. As far as spoofs go...I guess Superhero Movie is my second favorite. Date Movie is my favorite, then this one, then Epic Movie, and then the Scary Movies. I haven't seen the original Scary Movie, which is probably a shame, but I've seen the others. Am I missing a recent spoof? Possibly. Let me know, okay? I'll add it to my rankings if I've seen it.
In the special features, there's a featurette called "Meet the Cast." There's a little bit where Drake has a couple fake animals hanging on him and he says, "Loaded up with animals to, uh, have them hump me." First, he pets the fake skunk. Second, he kind of lowers his voice on "hump". Drake is a cutie. And okay...Drake saying "hump" amuses me almost as much as Drake swearing XD
It's The End Of The World As We Know it....rather ironic that song pops up on my iPod just as I was about announce to the tragic demise of the XBOX 360 which is just over 2 years old. The boys got the 'red ring of death' which sounds rather painful really but alas it just means the core thingy in the bloody machine has died and it's refusing to read discs etc....
Not that I don't already loath Micro$oft but now the freaking thing is about to cost another $160 to get it bloody repaired and that apparently includes an 8 week stop over in Sydney for said repairs. Why they couldn't build the bloody 360 as good as the first XBOX which still happily buzzing along I'll never know.
In trying to find out anything about where to send the retched 360 to be repaired I came across quite a few articles about the repairs to 360's world wide have now cost Micro$soft US1.2bn apparently. Can't say I'm either surprised or even remotely sympathetic. Serves them right for making such a crap machine.
