AboutThis community is for Harry Potter fan fiction (and possibly art) which is about real problems, and characters dealing with them.
Some of the topics that may be addressed in fiction posted to this community include:
Anyone is welcome to join. However, if you post your work here, please be sure it is a piece that attempts to seriously address reasonable and realistic responses to the kinds of crises listed above. The goal is not to create a community where we see these issues treated as trifles, kinks, or convenient plot devices, but to attempt to write, for lack of a better term, "responsible" fiction about characters in crisis, using the Potterverse as backdrop.
None of this is to say you can't create Wizarding cures or solutions to problems. This is, in fact, valid and encouraged just as much as any other approach. It simply means if you are going to, you need to have put some thought into cause, effect, and response. Furthermore, none of this means work posted here can't be funny or (relatively) light. It is valid to suggest that dark humor and/or deliberate lightness may be one means of dealing, even if this is not everyone's means.
This is not a community where the aim is to use any of these sorts of plots to make porn fun, nor is it a dark fic community, particularly. If you want to write fic about some of these topics, but don't care to make an attempt to get it right, this probably isn't the place for you, and if you primarily just want to write dark kinky porn, well, there are plenty of comms for that. Porn here is fine. Within the context of the other rules of the community.

B. Sexual dysfunction
C. Serious and/or debilatating physical illness or disease, such as cancer.
D. Pregnancy problems, including miscarriage, termination, infertility, and unwanted pregnancy
E. Rape recovery
F. Loss of a child or spouse
G. Addiction and recovery (or, and not recovering)
H. Adultery--not for kink; dealing with the aftermath of this or another abuse of trust
I. Coming to terms with or coping with the fallout from coming to terms to terms with, sexual identity
J. Sensory loss or other physical disability
K. Rejection in a romantic endeavor--relationships that simply fail to go
L. Or other topics of similar gravity--this list isn't necessarily all the choices

If you join this community, you agree, therefore, to the following:
- You will post fiction (or art) on topics that you have done some research about. If you do not have personal experience with the topic, that's fine, but the internet has tons of first-person stories that are not the ones found in letters to Playboy or religious testimonials, etc. If you can get a beta with direct experience, lovely, but it is understood that sometimes the topic is one a person with the experience may not wish to read.
- You will warn appropriately. A fic without warnings or with misleading warnings may be summarily removed. We have no intention of putting things in front of people and not telling them this is something that might be triggery for reliving their own traumas.
- If your own experience with the trauma discussed in the piece is different from what you are reading, and you would like to say so, you will do so in non-accusatory language in which you discuss how your own experience was different. You will not assume your own experience was totally universal. If the mods become aware of a post where many or most responses are seem to indicate the work is comprised of bad assumptions/prejudices/cliches, they may ask the poster to consider removing, revising, and re-posting.
- If you'd like to make the mods aware of such a post, you certainly may. You may not, however, attack the poster
- You will rate appropriately, which means you will consider level of explicitness of not only sexual themes but things like horror or violence, etc. If you have a question, you will post as "adult" and ask the mods for help with rating.
- If you are under the age of majority, you will choose not to click on links that are noted as being adult for sexual content. This is not a statement regarding your maturity, but regarding the mods' hope not to get anyone in big trouble.
