About the Community

This is a controlled community for Jehovah’s Witnesses on livejournal. By controlled I mean that a careful watch is kept to make sure that everything runs smoothly. Your moderators/maintainers are Julie: rubyzib & David: long_coat, but membership requests must always go through me (rubyzib). Please read the following before making a request for membership. And as a side-note, if you notice that the rules are speaking from a first person perspective (for example, if you see the word “I” or “me” used, it’s rubyzib that’s writing this. Let’s move on to the rules.


Membership

1. Although you are not required to be baptized or a publisher, I would prefer that you be studying with Jehovah’s Witnesses or at least be making an honest effort to get a study. I used to let non-Witnesses who were merely curious into the community a while back, but this became a problem so I can no longer allow it. Please note that there are absolutely no exceptions to this rule.
2. You don’t have to be a teenager to join, although the original purpose of the community was to encourage young Jehovah’s Witnesses. This is a community for all Jehovah’s Witnesses who would like to join, regardless of age or other such restrictions.
3. Membership Here’s the process. First you must email me at ruby.zib(at)gmail.com to request to be a member with JW as the subject. If I don't see JW as the subject I will assume that it is spam and will probably delete the email without reading it. I will send you a questionnaire for you to answer with things such as your age and involvement with Jehovah’s Witnesses. From there on I might ask you some questions, but nothing hard to answer at all, I promise. Your username, the name you indicate on the questionnaire, age, location, and congregation (if you wish to make it known), will be used to add you to the official members list.
4. If you are publicly reproved, disfellowshipped, or disassociated, you must let me know as soon as possible. Please don’t let me have to find out through someone else. Your status in the congregation won't be announced in this community, but I would still like to know about it.
5. I will never remove anyone from the community simply because they are not active in it, since I know some may be too shy to say anything but can still benefit from watching it. However, accounts that have been inactive for more than 16 weeks, as well as users who have deleted their journals will be removed from the community. So if you were removed from the community, you can rest assured it was not because you are inactive in it. If you want to know why you were removed, you should email us. If you would like to be added again, you will have to go through the new-member process again (see above).


Posting and Comments

1. You know how to behave. If it turns out you don't, we'll deal with you. Sometimes that will mean a warning and sometimes it might mean being banned without notice. It is totally at my discretion but I am always fair to the best of my ability. When in doubt, please remember the fruits of the spirit (Galatians 5:22, 23).
2. You may post anything you wish so long as it does not detract attention from the purpose of the community. If you want to post a survey please make sure that there are not questions on it that would make any member feel uncomfortable. (If you’re wondering whether it would, a good guideline would be to ask yourself if you would be comfortable asking an elder to answer the survey question.) Poetry is not only fine but encouraged, especially if it pertains to the Truth. Feel free to show off art or pictures or anything that puts a smile on your face...Jehovah is a happy God, so why not share what makes us happy with others?
3. Please don’t spam or otherwise advertise on our community for other communities. If you want to invite others to join your community, please do that on your own. Thanks.
4. This is a moderated community, so you probably won't see your post on the community right away until the moderators check our email. We're online often so it shouldn't take more than a day for your entry to be posted, but if it does, please wait 24 hours from the time of posting before contacting us.


General Notices

1. This is an interlingual community. By that I mean that you may post in any language or mixture of languages you wish. Whether or not you want to translate is totally up to you, but keep in mind that a translation would be very much appreciated.
2. There will be periodic journal checks. The purpose of these is not to poke into your business and certainly not to judge you, but just to make sure that no one is going apostate on us. You know, it sounds lame, but if you’ve got nothing to worry about, you’ve got nothing to worry about. During the check you will be asked to give temporary friendship to all maintainers so that we can do the check. Once we are done you can un-friend us.
3. This community and its moderators are not responsible for the community friends’ page. Any posting you see on there is totally out of our hands, and I ask that you not judge the community by the posts you see there. Remember, Jehovah’s Witnesses are people too, and everyone has their bad days.
4. If you would like interests added in any language, by all means feel free to request that this be done by emailing the maintainers at livejournal.witness.teens(at)gmail.com.
