"Wendy Richard's agent Kevin Francis reported she had died on the morning of 26 February 2009, at the age of 65, in 'The Harley Street Clinic' in Harley Street in the borough of Westminster, London, after being diagnosed with cancer since October 2008. Her husband John Burns was at her bedside at the time. Mr Francis said: "She was incredibly brave and retained her sense of humour right to the end. On the day of her death, a remembrance programme dedicated to Richard was broadcast on BBC One." [via wikipedia]

"In season 5, Daniel notices her having a nosebleed. She later complains of a headache, and says that she once had a thought about her mother, but then couldn't even remember her mother's maiden name. She knows that Daniel knows what she is experiencing, but before he could say, the survivors are attacked by an unknown group of people.[8] Later on in episode 3, she and the survivors time travel to and from the Others' camp, where Charlotte suffers from a severe nose bleed and falls face down on the ground while Daniel rushes towards her.[9] As the episode "This Place is Death" comes to a close it is confirmed that Charlotte's mother was a part of the Dharma Initiative and that a scary man once told her that once she leaves the island, never to come back or else she will die. She tells Faraday that he was the scary man, and soon after dies in his arms." [via wikipedia]

This is my friend's son, Evan. I love that little guy! This was filmed after his first visit to church. Awesome.
That's right- Hip Hop Country... I just stumbled across this while channel surfing- I challenge you to not get caught up in this song- you're gonna smile, or at least tap a foot to this one.
And the best part is that it's just fun music from a rough part of town- 67th & Western on my South Side.
Anybody seen the real video yet? Real or not, it's pretty eerie, but this parody will do...
Ching ching, gettin paid over here,
Ching ching, gettin paid over here…
I remember the first time I saw Missy Elliott. The video for The Rain premiered on Mtv, and I was dumbstruck. I got on the phone immediately and called Greg, exclaiming that I had just witnessed the future of Hip Hop. That was a dozen years ago, and over that time the number of female rappers has dwindled and eventually hit zero. No wonder hip hop regained much of it’s chauvinistic streak over the years- there’s no large-scale movement to counter the habit despite a few men who still don’t subscribe to that ism.
Finally, Missy has come out with a new single “Ching A Ling,” with a new video. She’s still hitting new levels and coming out with music that is above and beyond any of the crap on the radio. So to share with the class, here’s the video- call it a special bonus Lyrics Friday… Btw, keep and eye on the four Japanese guys- they are called U-Min, and there are no camera tricks going on there…
Oh don't don't don't get up
I can't see the sunshine
I'll be waiting for you, baby
Cause I'm through
Sit me down
Shut me up
I'll calm down
And I'll get along with you
ooooooo-ooooooo-oooooh
i'm thinking of starting a witless sports livejournal community. no I'm not trying to compete with KSK; i'm just stealing their idea. i tend to have a lot of sports related posts, so it would be nice to have them committed to a separate blog. if others are interested i'll start working on it. if you have better name idea than "witless sports", let 'em rip. technically it could be hosted on another blogging service that supports open-id but truthfully i'm lazy and livejournal would just make it easier to integrate.

Hello again!
Just a reminder that Monday night is my next installment of No Time For TV, my live plays consisting of new episodes of hit television shows. This Monday's show is CSI: Miami, and I'm really excited about it. Last weeks went great, so come out and see what at least ten people are talking about! Here's the details:
Monday, 7pm doors, 8pm show, 400 Bar. There'll be music afterward, possibly my friend Will, possibly more, but it'll be good. And here's the best part, it's free! Well, only if you're 21+, if you're under 21 it's five bucks, but for most of you that means it's free! We also have our full range of excellent tap beers back (tennets, beamish, sam adams, karlsberg, pyramid) and two new additions, Summit big bottles and Fat Tire big bottles (just like at First Ave!). So come down early, have a beer, say hello and enjoy the show.
Here's the link to last weeks show in case you didn't get to see it yet:

Tell your friends! Bring your friends! Send this to your friends!

A classmate sent this to me. Awesome...
A plug for two of my favorite independent radio stations that I think some of you will enjoy.
KAXE-FM Northern Community Radio, Grand Rapids/Brainerd/Bemidji:
Founded in the mid-70's, KAXE serves north-central Minnesota communities with its variety of music and talk programming, mostly by an all volunteer staff. The mix of blues, folk and rock music is definitely unique to any radio station in Northern Minnesota, but also to most stations across the nation. The highlight of the talk programming is the station's live call-in trivia show, Green Cheese (Saturday's 7-9 PM), which attracts callers/listeners from all over the state and nation, despite the show's non-syndicated status. The station also broadcasts NPR programs such as Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and Car Talk. One of only 12 truly independent radio stations in Minnesota. Audio streaming at www.KAXE.org.
KCRW-FM, Santa Monica College, CA:
Broadcasting some of the most innovative programming and eclectic music over the past thirty years, KCRW has gained a reputation as one of the finest independent radio stations in the nation. From news and talk to music of all genres, KCRW programming is the highest quality of any I have ever heard. My favorite music programs: Sounds Eclectic (Sundays 9-11 PM, CST, also broadcast in syndication on The Current, Saturdays 6-8 AM), Morning Becomes Eclectic (various times), Nocturna (Sat & Sun 6-8 PM CST), and Chocolate City (Sat & Sun 4-6 PM CST). The station is available in three channels: live, music, and news streaming formats, as well in podcasts, at www.KCRW.com.
Enjoy!

One Night Stand, this Saturday,
I can hardly believe it myself, but I'm letting you know about a reading with more than one days notice. It's this Saturday, it's just two short hours (7 to 9) and it's at the Acadia, which closes (sadly) at the end of the year, so it might be your last chance to check it out. The cover is only 5$ and you'll get to see a whole bunch of performers and other readings (we each get ten minutes and the program is pretty full, so should be fun). The Acadia is a pretty small room, so it won't take much to fill it up, so I'd love to see any or all of you there. One old story and a couple of brand new ones for the event are coming from me. Hope you can make it.
Acadia Cafe
Saturday, October 27th
7 to 9 pm
Oh, and feel free to wear a costume if you so desire. There will be other people dressed up, I swear.
Cool.
