Description:9 wicked good women writing the paranormal. Hold onto your hat Toto, you're not in Kansas anymore.
About
The Witchy Chicks started in September 2005 as an idea between Linda Wisdom and me (Yasmine Galenorn). We met on the FF&P (Futuristic, Fantasy and Paranormal) special interest loop of the RWA. We were talking about group writers’ blogs and while we thought the idea was cool, neither one of us had found one we really wanted to join. So we discussed what we wanted out of the blog group. We knew we wanted the members to be involved in writing paranormal fiction—whether it be mystery, romance, erotica, screenplays, or magic realism, we didn’t care. We love all of those genres. We also wanted to handpick the members—to form a tightly woven support group that would act as a cyber-family for when the writing got so tough we could barely think, for when real life threatened to interfere too much. And we wanted to have fun and not always be so serious. Within a week, the Witchy Chicks were born.

Next to come was Lisa—I had met her on a pagan forum and we really hit it off. Terey was next—Linda knew her. And one by one, we added the other members, taking great pains to make sure everyone would mesh. We knew we wanted a cut-off limit for actual members, for if a group gets too large, it tends to become aloof, but we also wanted to create an atmosphere where our readers never felt we were ignoring them or leaving them out in the cold.

Over the past—almost three—years, the Witchy Chicks have evolved. We’ve gone from focusing strictly on writing posts to having fun, to examining all aspects of life including writing, the paranormal, etc. We’ve also instituted our twice yearly round-robin story which has met with rave reviews (well, a lot of laughs and fun, anyway!). In May, we do our Faerie Tale, in October, our Ooo-Spooky Horror Story.

And now, we’ve decided to mirror our blog onto Live Journal. We won’t be leaving Blogger, but we’ll be posting mirrors of our blogs here so that our readers who prefer LJ can interact with us easier. We’ll be taking a few weeks to get going fully, but we hope to begin posting our mirrored blogs sometime next week…at the latest, by July 1st.

So pull up a bale of hay and join the Chicks in the henhouse. While we aren’t accepting actual members, we are thrilled if you’re here to watch and comment and interact. ~smiles~

The Witchy Chicks:

Yasmine Galenorn: USA Today bestselling author of the Otherworld Series, the Chintz ‘n China paranormal mystery series, the Bath & Body Series (written under the name India Ink), and eight nonfiction books on witchcraft, tarot, sex magic, body image, meditation, totem magic, paganism, etc. Yasmine’s a shamanic witch who is considered an Elder in the Craft. She’s been on her spiritual path since 1980. She lives in Bellevue WA with her husband Samwise and their four senior cats.

Linda Wisdom: Linda’s written over 70 books, and is now focusing on her Witch Series, the first two books of which are about Jazz Tremaine, a 700 year old witch with an attitude, Nick—Jazz’s vampire lover, and Fluff and Puff, her maniacal bunny slippers. She lives in California.

Lisa DiDio: Lisa is the author of the Sherwood Forest series, a screenplay writer, and she’s currently working on a YA urban fantasy series with its roots steeped in Norse Mythology. Lisa also lives in California.

Terese Ramin: Terese is the author of 10 romantic suspense novels, the creator of the Bewitched, Bothered & BeVampyred charitable collaboration that introduced Brokenoggin Falls and its residents to readers and will hopefully soon be extended into a series of charitable books. The authors are aboard, her energy is back and she's ready to fly.

Madelyn Alt: Maddy is the national bestselling author of the Bewitching Mystery Series. Chronicling life for an offbeat group of ghosthunters in anything-but-normal Stony Mill, Indiana, these exciting stories are giving readers spills, chills, and thrills--of both the supernatural and all-too-natural kind. Madelyn writes from her home, an 1870s-era Victorian in Northeast Indiana, and is undoubtedly hard at work on the next Bewitching mystery.

Candace Havens: Candy's the author of the Charmed Series. In addition, she is considered one of the nation's leading entertainment writers. Candy has interviewed countless celebrities, including Tom Cruise, Nicholas Cage, Tom Hanks, Susan Sarandon and George Clooney. She lives in Texas.

Kate Austin: Kate writes magical novels about incredible women. She has worked as a legal assistant, a commercial fisher, a brewery manager, a teacher, a technical writer, and a herring popper, while managing to read an average of a book a day. Go ahead – ask her anything. If she doesn't know the answer, she's more than happy to make it up because she's been reading and writing fiction for as long as she can remember. She lives in British Columbia.

Annette Blair: National bestselling author, Annette writes the Accidental Witch series, the upcoming Vintage Magic mystery series and Supernatural Employment Agency series. Her paranormal romantic comedies owe their beginnings to a root canal, pain meds, and a reluctant trip to Salem Massachusetts. Though she had once proclaimed she'd never write a contemporary, she stumbled into the serendipitous role of ‘Accidental Witch Writer’ on that trip. Annette has published over 22 novels and has won numerous awards for her work.

Maura Anderson: A professional software tester, Maura not only writes nonfiction software texts, but she writes paranormal erotica/erotic romance and is currently working on several ideas for paranormal romance and urban fantasy. Tort & Retort, Texas Tea, and a novella in Babes in Toyland are now available from Aspen Mountain Press, with a number of stories to come. Maura also lives in western Washington.
