The Alternative Star!

So, about three months ago I decided to create a webzine to help promote pop punk/alternative/hardcore/etc bands because I feel like they don't get a ton of coverage from other Winnipeg publications. Plus, I wanted to keep writing after the Winnipeg Free Press shut down this site for highschool students by highschool students called Extra.

Surprisingly, I've had more than enough content to keep it going and some links from AbsolutePunk.net but a lot of that traffic isn't from Winnipeggers so I'd like to change that and posting here is just one of the many ways I hope to achieve that. Were any of you at the Motion City Soundtrack on Monday or missed it and thought it would be cool if there was a recap? I got in to write a review for the site and you can see it here

Also, I had the chance to interview Living With Lions at their show last night. The article mostly discusses the new album but it also discusses what inspired them to pick up their intruments and yes, DMX. Plus their guitar player Chase has some pretty awesome stories so feel free to check it out here

This is just some of the content. Many other show reviews, interviews with bands like All Time Low, Chiodos and Carpenter plus reviews of the latest releases from Epitaph, Doghouse and Smallman are just some of the many other things the site has. Expect many more CD reviews and once September rolls around, hopefully I'll be able to do interviews and cover shows like MxPx/Lagwagon, Against Me!, Less Than Jake and Anti-Flag.

If you read this novel and checked it out, thanks! I also have a mailing list and am open to all suggestions and comments so feel free to join it and let me know what you think!

Thanks!

I bought something on eBay from someone who lives in the US. The package contains 12 books and she said she sent the books on July 14. She sent it through USPS via Priority Mail, but I have yet to receive it and it's nearing two weeks. Her feedback is 100% positive so she's most likely telling the truth... could it be the post office themselves? Unfortunately, she did not have a tracking confirmation number for me.

Is it normal for it to take two weeks (or longer) to receive a possibly large package? I've had stuff sent to me before when I purchased items online, though the max I've had to wait was a week unless it was a pre-order. Does anyone know what post office USPS is connected with, such as FedEx, Canada Post, or UPS? I'm also afraid that maybe my package is held at a post office because of custom fees not paid or something, but... I'm sure they'd bring it to my house and ask for me to pay it when I actually get the package? Or worse, the package might be lost.

The sad thing is that I'm having two other items (one larger than the package I'm supposed to receive now, while the other is a video game) shipped to me (the larger package isn't bought from eBay, but it's being sent by a friend who lives in the US), so I'd like to know if this is normal and that way, I can be prepared to wait awhile for my other packages.

Thanks Winnipeg. :) Sorry for the slightly long post~

Comes with the box and everything that's standard in the box (phone/battery/covers etc, software disc, instruction manual, wall charger), as well as an additional car charger, a case for the phone and inserts for the phone (both the pre-printed designs, and a set of sheets you can put in your printer to print out your own design to put in the phone). This phone is highly customizable because you can put whatever image you want in the face and back, but it's also a good solid phone if you need to replace a lost/broken one on the TELUS network.

Thanks again, Winnipeg! Apologies for the second post.

It doesn't even need a tap, I can put that on myself, but I'd rather not shell out big bucks for something I might be able to find in a garbage bin.

[Hell...I guess I could just use a garbage bin...]
