Kevin Tokarchuk
May 15, 2003

KEVIN BRADLEY TOKARCHUK Taken from us so very tragically on May 12, 2003 at our residence. Kevin was born December 12, 1978 and resided in Riverview at his family home. Kevin graduated from Red River College (Industrial Arts Teacher Education) in 1999, and from the University of Manitoba (Bachelor of Education) in 2000. As a son, brother, and friend, he was always there for you with a smile, a solution, and a helping hand. Kevin had a way of approaching life that was infectious. His love and devotion to his family will forever be cherished. Kevin was predeceased by his grandparents, Jim and Mary Tokarchuk, Nellie and Steve Stechishen, all from Dauphin, MB. Kevin is survived by his father Elmer Tokarchuk (Diana); mother Diane Tokarchuk (Wilf Jackson); brothers, Daniel James and Jeffrey Steven (Sharon); his godmother Sandra Gagne; and godfather Bob Stechisen. Pallbearers will be James Remple, Chris Vokey, David Frey, Nathan Boey, Matt Kulczycki, and James Roy. A CELEBRATION OF KEVIN'S LIFE will be held at Sturgeon Creek United at 207 Thompson Dr., on Friday, May 16 at 2:00 p.m. Viewing at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Chapel Lawn. Arrangements by Cropo Funeral Chapel, phone 586-8044. Memorial donations may be sent to Vantis Credit Union at 100 - 900 Harrow St., Winnipeg, MB R3M 3Y7 "Kevin Tokarchuk Trust Fund" for a placement of a park bench and tree in Churchill Drive Park, for everyone's enjoyment. Look up in the sky.... There is a new shining star and it has Kevin's sense of humour. "To know him was to love him." For all the joy thy children shall bring, The risk of grief will run. We'll shelter them with tenderness, We'll love them while we may, And for the happiness we've known, Forever-grateful stay. But shall the angels call them Much sooner than we've planned, We'll brave the bitter grief that comes And try to understand.

I'm just wondering, did you know him or something, or why is it that you posted it?

Yeah I knew him through someone and I thought it was tragic. In case there was someone who wanted to go to the funeral as well.

He was a student teacher at Gordon Bell High School when I went there. He used to wear this gold chain, and we jokingly refered to him as "Mr. T." He loved to joke around with us, and we'd say things to him like "I pitty tha fool!" He was the best student teacher we ever had. He would have made an awesome teacher.

Yeah...it sucks that what goes around comes around in the sickest of forms (in reference to his brother's actions)

This was...what? The 8th murder in Winnipeg so far this year? Did you post on the "tragic situation" of the other 7, or is this one special because your "cousins boyfriend" worked with him? I'm not trying to be an asshole here (although it may appear so), but...it isn't only a tragedy when you've heard of the person, or maybe talked to them once.

i'm agreeing with what x_ammo_X posted earlier, that is why i said it was tragic.

i don't even know why i'm replying to a coward who posted this comment annonymously.

p.s. all murders are tragic, but that doesn't mean i have to post on every single one.

Just to go off in another direction on this: How do you think the brother feels right now? What about the mother feelings about the brother? My mom would disown me if my bro was murdered because of something I did.

I think I know who posted the anonymous post, and if I'm right, they don't have a journal.

Yeah I was totally thinking about that too. I wonder why it was so necessary for his brother to kill that original gang guy in the first place. How can these people take lives so easily? I hope his brother isn't just planning the 'next' killing. It's this fucked up cycle that never seems to end. A few years ago when Anthony died and that kid got curbstomped. Now, that bouncer being shot, the vertigo incident (which also makes me very sick) and this. I just don't get it.

I'm pretty sure the older brother did it because he was really fucked up from heroine, and the guy he killed was giving him a place to stay, but he had some sort of argument or something. Something like that, I'm not sure about the argument part. Either way, it's just stupid and sick for this sort of thing to happen.

I would never normally respond to this type of thing but after I read the comment about Kevin's brother being on herion, I thought it was important to speak up - it is totally untrue and unfortunate that someone would make a comment like that. The mother has been through so much already and spreading more garbage is in really bad taste...
