[info]babylil: Voting Closed

Voting is now closed for the [info]wingswing awards. The votes will be counted, and winners announced (hopefully with award graphics, but I'll announce the winners even if the graphics aren't ready) tomorrow.

[info]babylil: Awards

Of the twenty-six who signed up to participate in the [info]wingswing this year, thirteen of you produced entries. I'd like to thank you all for taking part. I'm reading and feedbacking every entry, so if I haven't gotten to yours yet, rest assured that I will.

Now we come to the awards. I'm officially cutting off submissions for the awards now. Anybody reading this who's still working on an entry should feel free to go ahead and post it to the community at any time, but you're now too late to be included in the voting.

This year voting is being done in the form of an LJ poll, mostly because it's quick and easy and I'm enormously busy right now. Simply select the story you consider most deserving of each award, and submit your votes.

As voting is in LJ poll form it requires an LJ in order to vote. If you wish to vote and do NOT have an LJ, please email your votes (only one in each category) to wingswing[at]googlemail[dot]com. They will be counted along with the poll votes.

Voting is open as of now, and closes May 21st.

Voting Form )

ETA: LJ appears to have screwed up the poll and, despite me selecting for results to be viewable to 'none' it's allowing people to look at the results after they've voted. As there's no way to edit a poll after it's been posted, I'm deleting it and continuing the voting by way of screened comments. If you've already voted in the poll your vote HAS been counted, you do not need to vote again. If you have yet to vote and wish to do so, copy and paste the list of entries under the cut into a comment and delete all but the entry you wish to vote for in each category.

[info]mandysbitch: Just Another Word by cgb (Laurie - "Sam's Prostitute Girlfriend"/ Nikki Wade, Bad Girls)

Title: Just Another Word
Author: cgb (aka [info]mandysbitch
Fandoms: Bad Girls/ The West Wing
Pairing: Nikki/ Laurie
Rating: Mild NC-17
Summary: “Nikki ran all the way to New York.”
Author’s Notes: Written for the [info]wingswing 2006.

Bad Girls is a story about a women's prison in the UK. Nikki (pictured in my icon) is a hot (really hot) inmate. She’s also a lesbian who manages to convincingly sell the concept to the equally hot Governor of the prison (Helen). Their love affair is torrid, and way complicated. This story riffs on what might have happened if Nikki had done as she said she would and escaped to the US after her prison break.

This story features a cameo appearance by Madeleine Hampton. The woman who (with a lot of help from [info]gatefiction and a little help from myself) started the Wing Swing.

Props to [info]babylil who kept it going. That’s our girl.

Author: [info]sangerin
Fandom: The West Wing/Spooks (aka MI-5)
Pairing: Carol/Christine Dale
Rating: R
Spoilers: None for tWW, to ep 3.1 for Spooks
Summary: The participants may think that they are focused solely on each other, but their pasts will surely return to haunt them.

[info]projectjulie: Habeas Corpus (Evelyn Baker Lang/Laura Roslin)

title: Habeas Corpus
fandom: The West Wing x Battlestar Galactica
pairing: Evelyn Baker Lang/Laura Roslin (also Lang/OMCs)
rating: NC-17ish
summary: the Great Writ of habeas corpus allows the Judicial Branch to play a necessary role in maintaining this delicate balance of governance, serving as an important judicial check on the Executive's discretion in the realm of detentions. (Justice O'Connor, Hamdi v. Rumsfeld)

It was one of those events: everyone talks about where they were when they heard.

[info]meeshy: Solace Janet Fraiser/Annabeth Schott

Solace by Meesh

Pairing: Janet Fraiser (SG-1)/Annabeth Schott (The West Wing)
Rating: Suitable For all (PG)
Category: Angst, AU, character death, crossover, hurt/comfort.
Content Warnings: None really.

Spoilers: Up to Season 7's "Election Day" for The West Wing (none for SG-1 but its AU-Heroes!)

Disclaimer: Not mine, mostly Aaron Sorkin’s and MGM’s.

Authors Notes: This is for [info]wingswing where I picked Janet Fraiser as my crossover character, and was asked to pair her with Annabeth Schott…. This fic is in its entirety [info]babylil’s fault – she convinced me to sign up! (Though she did a great beta job, thank you [info]babylil!
This will undoubtedly suck because I haven’t had time to think of any sort of plot. (And yes, its a week late!)

[info]sweetly_savage: Sorry for the lateness.

Title: Illicit

Pairing: Jenna Jacobs/Ellie Bartlet

Rating: Adult

Spoilers: The Midterms and Ellie, I suppose.

Summary: "I don't say homosexuality is an abomination, Mr. President. The Bible does."

Author's Notes: Warning - this fic contains anti-gay sentiment, Bible quotations, and lesbian sex. This combination may not be comfortable for some readers.

The views expressed in this fic are my interpretations of Jenna Jacob's view and should not be confused with my own, which are vastly different.

All quotes from the Bible were taken from the King James Version. The last quote is Aaron Sorkin's.

Fandom: West Wing
Pairing: Kate Harper/Gina Toscano
Rating: R
Disclaimer: Just taking them out to play for awhile…
Spoilers: Pre-S1 and specific events from Commencement, Gaza, NSF Thurmont, Third Day Story.
A/N: Written for [info]wingswing. Told from Gina’s POV even though I requested Kate. Oh, and this will probably suck because I really struggled with the pairing, and I've been insanely busy lately. Thanks to [info]eloriekam for the prompt eons ago that ended up inspiring this, and for reading it to make sure it worked.
Summary: “You remember feeling her stare, then repeatedly catching her eye and watching her smirk”

[info]babylil: T minus one hour

It'll be Saturday in an hour here in the UK, and it's almost time for your entries to be posted. I've opened the community up for posting by all members, so just post your fic here anytime tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you've all come up with!

The masterlist is here, just so that there's somewhere to link to for the entire collection of fics. I'll update it as the fics are posted.

I'll give you around a week to get all your entries in, and then voting will start for the awards. More information about that to follow.

[info]babylil: Assignments

All assignments have now been sent out. If you signed up and haven't received one leave a comment here, or email me at wingswing[at]googlemail[dot]com.

If you've received your assignment and you're not happy with it (because I've screwed up and given you somebody you asked to be left out of your draw etc.) reply to the assignment email and let me know what's up. If I've screwed up, I'll fix it.

Enjoy your assignments, people. I'm certainly looking forward to reading them!

[info]babylil: Wing Swing 2006 - rules and sign-up entry

The Wing Swing is back! The West Wing is a great fandom for femslash, as well as a whole load of fantastic female characters, so let's get the Wing Swing 2006 going and generate some more.

This is how it works:
(i) you pick who you want one half of your pairing to be;
(ii) you submit it, by midnight GMT on Saturday March 25th, by filling out the form below and leaving it as a comment (which will be screened) to this entry;
(iii) I pull a name out a hat to decide who will make up the other half of your pairing, and email you your assignment;
(iv) you write a fic of at least 1000 words, featuring the pairing you've been assigned, and post it to the community on Saturday April 29th.

After everybody has submitted their fic, there will be a vote for awards in a number of categories. I'll get back to you on exactly what those categories will be!

Notes:
1. You are welcome to write as many pairings as you wish, so feel free to submit more than one character. You'll need to do a separate form for each one.

2. I know you all love CJ. I love CJ too. However, to encourage new pairings, I'm not putting her in the main draw. You're free to pick her, obviously, but I'd encourage you to pick somebody else. CJ gets plenty already, and diversity is good. Let's let some other women have sex, huh?

3. You can tell me if there are people you don't want put in your draw, for whatever reason - they squick you, they're only in episodes you've never seen etc. I will be unsympathetic towards people who don't bother to use this facility on the submission form and then complain to me about their assignment. There are some characters that won't be in all the draws, e.g. Isobel will only be in the draw for CJ, Karen Cahill will only be in the draw for Donna, and the Bartlet women will most definately not be in the draw for each other.

4. Crossovers are shiny, and you're welcome to pick a character from another show. If you wish to do this you should submit the name of the crossover character you've chosen, and you will be assigned a West Wing character to pair them with. For crossovers we'll toss CJ back into the draw.

5. I've tried to make the character list as comprehensive as possible, but I know it's possible that I'm missing people. If there's a character you want to write who isn't listed go ahead and pick them anyway and I'll add them to the list.

[info]babylil: Wing Swing 2006

Because [info]sangerin asked, and it occured to me that others may be wondering, I do plan to run the Wing Swing again this year. I'm looking at somewhere around the beginning of March to kick the whole thing off, and I hope as many of you as possible will take part.

You may have noticed I've turned the journal into a community. Feel free to join, although I'm restricting posting access to myself until it's time to post entries.
