labels
Does anyone have a tried and true way of removing labels in tact from bottles?  For various reasons I want to keep some labels, but I can't always get the label to come off in one piece.  Any suggestions?

Thanks!

you can get a wine label remover thing, it makes it so you can put the label directly onto your tasting journal thing.

takes the whole label right off. they come in packs and you can get them on amazon.com

I have found that filling the empty bottle with boiling water (using a funnel) softens the glue enough to peel the label off intact. I've done this several times.

Yay, low-tech! ;)

Free is even better. I've been soaking them, which isn't turning out so hot.

Ooooh, cool. I've had okay luck with soaking the bottle and slowly peeling the label off, but not 100% success.

Throw the bottle in the oven for about 10 minutes at 250 degrees F (or 110 C).

If the glue is still gummy sprinkle some flour on sticky side.

Boil a kettle and use the steam to make the label damp enough to take off without totally ruining the label. It's an old trick you can do with stamps too. Saw it on Jonathan Creek =D

steaming them off is how I always do it- boil a small saucepan of water, and hold the bottle over the open mouth until the label softens and can peel away easily.
I haven't tried the oven or the put-boiling-water-in-the-bottle trick, but maybe I will next time.
