Ste. Anne's Church in Tecumseh

Here's another of many churches in Windsor/Essex County that needs quite a number of repairs.  Ste. Anne's in Tecumseh (Lesperance & Tecumseh) made headlines last fall when its belltower and steeple were deemed unsafe and ready to crumble at any time.

Today the steeple still sits on the front lawn of the church, awaiting funds for a $3 million repair job.  Similar to Assumption Church, Ste. Anne's is a very old structure.  Construction occurred around 1873, while the church community itself was enacted in 1859.

The church community is hoping to raise the $3-million needed so that restoration work (stained glass window repairs, tower-work, external stone work and roofing) can begin ASAP.  The goal is to have the church fully restored by 2009 for the parish's 150th Anniversary.

the church needs to have either 2/3 or 3/4 of the money raised before construction can begin
This beautiful structure is a huge part of the Tecumseh history and landscape. Contributions to its' restoration should be on every resident's and business's charitable donation list whether there is a Catholic connection or not. This is not just a religious restoration but a historical one!
